The Senate did not eventually approve extension of the AWB. It was discussed, it was added to another bill, and the bill the extension was added to went DOWN, 90-8.
You may know that, but I promise you, many folks picking this thread up at this point will not have read the few posts that clearly recited that vitally important fact.

I would just like to say THIS SUCKS! At this point, the bill that included extending the AWB went DOWN, 90-8. The AWB will sunset, if legislation isn't passed.
A number of Senators went on record as supporting an extension, then for some reason unknown, voted against the combination of AWB extension and zapping frivolous lawsuits against gun manufacturers.

Clayton Cramer has an updated posted on his
BLOG that the NRA itself gave the order for S.1805 to be sunk, due to the AWB extension being attached to it, and in his opinion, that is pretty much the end of the chances for the so-called "assault weapons ban" being extended.
He's a smart cookie -- I sure hope he's right! Personally, though, I'm not relaxing until after September.

Well, if it wasn't the Senate leadership in conjunction with the WH (and I'm okay with that scenario), it could be at the instigation of the NRA (and I'm okay with that, too!) that 1805 got sunk. Whatever works to end this tyranny.

Well, being a Southerner by blood (Louisiana), and for many years, geographically (also, Louisiana), I fully intend to return to Dixie when I retire. The rich, red earth of Georgia sounds nice.

You may be right on Bush being gone in November.
I just wish all these single point voters would think about what they will get instead of Bush.
I don't relish the idea of 4 years (or 8) of a Demo President.

Well, you've been honest and acknowledged it. Puts you ahead of all the folks still defending CFR. Check out CFR's latest embarrassment to the GOP.

When Bush came out in support of the extension on the AWB, it became a done deal. No surprise here, just more disappointment. Bush Basher alert.

Here is what I predict what will happen. The Liability bill will pass with all amendments intact. The conference committee leaves them in, Bush signs. Then activists judges will declare the liability part unconstitutional, leaving all gun control parts intact. Better stick to your day job.

Agree.......I don't want that either friend but somedays ya have to get dirty to get the job done. To continually allow, endorse and condone this incrementaism of our liberys and financial futures at the local and national levels is just wrong. It's too easy to do the popular thing and just follow suit. That is'nt my way. Doing the right thing is not always easy, popular nor a quick solution.
I will never vote for a RAT and some will rant that a vote for anything other than the GOP is a vote for a RAT.....well if it happens, it happens but RINOS need know this. I'm done voting on party lines. I vote for the individual unless their name, organization or background is associated with the democratic socialists.
Their was a long list of folks yesterday that voted for the Cosmetic POS AWB. Now in reflection I am thinking that they did so on purpose knowing full an well the end result.
We can only stay vigilant and alert to the seditious acts and fight them as they are encountered.
Stay Safe !

Right, Redleg, I blame the person responsible instead of entertaining fantasies that "It's all the voters' fault!" when the voters withhold their votes from a man who wants to pass unconstitutional laws.
I'd bet that your 11 year old learned his tactic of blaming others from you, Dad. Personally, I blame those responsible for the results of their actions. You should do the same.

I get it... Rove isn't as smart as you... LOL!Rove suffers from a severe form of "tunnel vision." As a result, he does not have the analytic abilities of a typical high school senior, obtaining passing grades at a first class high school. Your crack implies that you admire the man. I would suggest that you look a bit closer. He is as I describe him. Over and over again, he has been associated with positions that confirm the pattern. (Karl Rove--Dysron, Quack Of Mole?.)
I realize that there are a lot of people who want very badly to believe otherwise. The Roves in our midst do, I suppose, fill an instinctive need in some folk; a need to believe that someone has a mystic answer for certain problems. That is the more urbane example of the same trait, which in primitive societies, makes the Witch Doctor's work much easier. Unfortunately, Rove is far less likely to deliver what you hope for, than the Witch Doctor.

sorry Fed, I'm a day late on your question about the ammo they were voting on banning? There were a couple of ammendments banning armor piercing ammo. Of course, Kennedy was talking about sniper rifles and armor piercing bullets-meaning hunting rifles and any bullet that would go through any kind of bullet proof vest. To hear kennedy's drunken shrieking still sickens me...

Thanks for the info. My Mini-14 is the standard Wal-Mart special. No threaded barrel or lug. The replacement stock has a pistol grip but does not fold. So I guess I have 2 of 3 evil options. As far as state laws: thank God I live in Texas.

Evidently you don't follow the market for the 100,000 full-auto rifles...
You are absolutely correct, I have no need whatsoever for a full auto rifle. That being said, I can see your point. If someone has a class 3 license can they import autos?
