Thanks for the info. My Mini-14 is the standard Wal-Mart special. No threaded barrel or lug. The replacement stock has a pistol grip but does not fold. So I guess I have 2 of 3 evil options. As far as state laws: thank God I live in Texas.

The SKS I no longer have had a pistol grip, folding stock and muzzle brake. Never managed to re-install the folding bayonet.
Fortunately it was pre-ban.
Did have two 30 round mags for it, but who wants 'em? Like the 10 round with stripper clips better.
It was as much fun as an the M1 carbine I bought my Dad!
