"I just called my Seantor, Gordon Smith, to tell him that I would no longer vote for him or campaign for him, and the women who I was telling this to YAWNED as I was telling her this, then said, "yeah, yeah."
"
And did you think that your Senator really cares what you think? If you tell a politician you won't vote for him, you immediately remove yourself from his interest. Why should he care about folks who declare they won't vote for him?
The time to contact your lawmakers is _before_ the vote occurs, not after. You're way off this guy's radar now.

Already banned in 1934. No not banned, but they applied a selective, and prohibitory tax, as well as a registration scheme to select fire weapons (and others such as short barrelled rifles and shotguns). That was as much an infringement on the people's RKBA as the current ban on semi-auto military look alikes.

I just called my Seantor, Gordon Smith, to tell him that I would no longer vote for him or campaign for him, and the women who I was telling this to YAWNED as I was telling her this, then said, "yeah, yeah." Where do they hire these people? Even if a senator is a sleazebag, they know to at least pretend to care.
Gordon Smith is a pretty decent senator if you avert your gaze on a couple of issues, but I can't blame you for being pissed at constituent treatment like that!

Same here. Our local news reader not only called it a victory for gun control, but went on to play Ketchup Boy's slam on Bush from the floor of the senate.
It is positively amazing to watch. Even though we know that the Dem's only focus is the return to power, and we know that they will do anything to reach that goal, we continue to play into their hands.
Anyone who doesn't believe these amendments were placed into the bill (yes even by rino McCain) to create a wedge issue for us, raise your hand.
Kerry's statement on the floor prove this is no accident. They want to force the President's hand on this as he said he would support keeping AWB if it came to his desk. In the Rat's eyes this is a lose - lose situation for Bush. If he signs to continue ban, he loses a big chunk of his base (working too based on posts I've seen so far). If he vetoes they finally have the issue they can call him a liar for and get it to stick with the sheeple.
That is why I don't believe this will ever land on his desk as it is. Rove is way too smart to allow Bush to be put in a position like this.
IMHO bill gets stripped down to clean version in commitee, by severe arm twisting and ball busting. I believe this is why D. Cheney is VP. This falls into the category of his and DeLay's job description.
I think we and the Dems continue to underestimate what may be one of the smartest and strongest political machines country has ever seen. Bush's team continues to cause the opponents to open the door directly into their own face.

If this goes forward, I expect a realignment to a Democrat House and a Democrat Senate, and a possibility of a Democrat President.
it helps the cause when you post such things as hoping for a Kerry Presidency and Janet Reno II as Attorney General.
Another reason why it is pointless to dialog with you is because you are illiterate.
Most everyone knows that there is a difference between "expecting an event" and "hoping for an event".
Everyone except Dane.

If Kerry wins, it will be the difference between being shot to death (with Kerry), or slowly poisoned (with Bush). Either way, yer dead in a week.
In a way you're right. But the frog is safer out of the slowing heating pot of water. At least with the Dems in power, people will wake up before it is too late!

We care, we are contacting our legislators, and we are considering CFR as we evaluate who we vote for in November.

There's really nothing more to say. You would cheer for Bush if he formed a Central Planning Committee and converted us to Communism. In fact, you'd lead the damned parade for him
LOL! The hyperbole is flying now, but keep on posting Laz.
It's great watching you all cheer on Kerry and the prospect of a Janet Reno II.

Be prepared. Someone's bound to call you an idiot and explain the difference between a clip and a magazine to you.

The House won't pass this. No way is Rove that stupid. There are a few independent minded Congressmen, who may be able to keep the House from passing this. But Karl Rove really is that stupid. Whether because of tunnel vision, or whatever, he does not have a clue as to how real people are motivated. (Karl Rove--Dysron, Quack or Mole.)
Our hope is to confine Karl Rove's influence within the Republican Party as much as we possibly can, in the hope that at some point, very soon, the President will realize that Rove not only does not have the answers; he is a terrible burden to have to carry.

This little interchange is why I have a hard time taking seriously the claim that banning a type of firearm means the end of liberty as we know it. Some of you folks come off not as constitutionalists, but as gun-happy goofs.
