Mary Landrieu of Louisiana voted NO only b/c she is up for reelection.
Breaux, OTOH is set to retire. POS is leaving his final load while in office. I will forever remember him as a traitor to the Constitution.

These principled stands over bits and pieces of the proverbial pie are going to cause the eventual and problematic loss of the entire pie. You're right. If people don't stand for something NOW, they'll fall for anything later.

"These principled stands over bits and pieces of the proverbial pie are going to cause the eventual and problematic loss of the entire pie."
The battle for gun rights is the only pie that ultimately matters. How are you going to be a free human being without arms? Answer: You can't; the founders recognized this and wrote our constitution accordingly.

Must my .02 cents - Nelson has typically been more conservative than Hagel - who's newest cause du jour is campaigning in favor of the President's immigration reform legislation (which Hagel is co-sponsoring) in the schools of hispanic districts of South Omaha. I notice that he doesn't come to my church in West Omaha for a meeting to explain to those of us who originallly supported him why we should all support this "courageous" legislation that really "isn't amnesty".
Hagel is again a globalist, who has his eyes fixed firmly on 2008.

I just listened toi the ABC news at the top of the 3rd hour of Rush's show. The newbabe said it has past and is a victory for guncontrol advocates. No mention of House votes or Presidential signature.
There's no bias there. "Tell the people it's over and get back to work. We need the tax money." That's what it sounded like to me.

I've sadly learned you cannot trust any politicians.
I'm calling my senators to urge them to vote NO on this bill...we simply CANNOT take the chance that the slick anti-gunners will move this onto Bush's desk to sign.

Does anybody besides me get the feeling when it comes to gun control and politics, what we're seeing is this?
"........when was it ever broken?"

Well gee, Sabertooth, why don't you organize a million person march against CFR. You can't, because people don't care about CFR, and you know that truth, but yet you wish to ignore reality and criticize people who acknowledge that reality and put yourself on an empty throne called "the most principled of all".
Sorry Dane, that won't fly. You were part of the "SCOTUS will fix it, so let's appease on CFR, so we can take the Democrats' issues away" retreat brigade, while folks such as myself were pointing out that no one cared about CFR then. There was no reason to cower, but you do it reflexively. Now you want to stake a claim about folks not caring about CFR? You're late.

If Bush signs this, I won't vote for him, I'll write in somebody else. This is his and Karl Rove's "fair warning" period. If they want to stab us in the back based on a mistaken political calculation, so be it. But never let they say they were not warned first.

I hate this new keyboard...you really have to pound the keys to make sure it does what you want it to do. Guess I'll use the spell and preview. Oh well, BTTT.

Because if the Dems win the presidency, they win control of federal prosecutors, the ATF, the Justice Dept, the ability to further pack the courts with judicial activists, and worst of all, the power of the 'executive order'. Further, if the GOP loses the WH because utopian 'x' issue conservatives stay home, wobbly GOP Senators and Congressmen are more likely to write them off as unappeasable, and thus more likely to be strong-armed by the left into further weakening of gun rights Exactly Diidle, looks like the purists are salivating over another Janet Reno being Attorney General.

Actually, if you can come up with a definition for assault weapons.....
It's an incremental thingie; witness the success of banning smoking over the years.
Eventually, they'll end up banning toy guns completely.
