Hand of God shakes the Temple Mount

On Saturday, 22 Shevat 5764 (14 February 2004), another wall on the Temple Mount collapsed in the area of the Western Wall. The wall was the continuation of the Western Wall and which contained the western (Mugrabe) gate leading to the Temple Mount. Stones from the collapsed wall fell in the women's prayer area at the Western Wall while women were praying in the area. It was a miracle that none were hurt.
As stated above, this happened on Saturday while Jerusalem was being covered with snow. The collapse occurred four days after the earthquake which shook all of Israel, including Jerusalem. The earthquake was stronger in the Jerusalem area than in other areas as Jerusalem is closer to the epicentre which was north of the Dead Sea. Archaeologists and scientists stated that the collapse of the wall was as a result of the quake as well as the snow. The archaeologist, Dr. Eilat Mazal, from the committee for the prevention of the destruction of the antiques on the Temple Mount said that "the occurrence of another much bigger collapse is only a question of time and it will cause a major disaster". Other archaeologists and scientists stated that the collapse is just a forerunner of further collapses on the Temple Mount.

"The Third Temple will be built when we shall have a complete desire to do so." The Israelis should start collecting money for a "Rebuild the Temple" fund. There would be three goals for this:
1. To express belief in the certainty of Biblical prophecy.
2. To begin the earthly process of financing this structure (lending G*D a hand, if you like).
3. To p*ss off the Muslims.

I wonder what kind of rock base the region is made of, At the great Mammouth Cave National Park in Kentucky if they have any real cold snaps the potential of cave ins, like ceiling in the caves falling down, are greatly increase that they have been known to shut down the cave tours for a few days. Same effect with the thawing weather in the north. In the spring time there is a lot of pot holes. I wonder if maybe the snow and cold weather had anything to do with this wall caving in or in setting off a earthquake through the caving in of rock in certain underground caverns that might be in the area of Jersuem. Does anybody out there know how othen Jersuem gets snow. Does anybody know what kind of rock base is under the area and how many caves there might be in the area. I'm really curious now.

This wall collapse comes about a year after another part of the wall also fell down. These are parts to the right of the Wailing Wall itself but closer to (and below the level of) the Al-Aksa mosque and the waqf's unauthorized (and suspiciously deep) excavation, and the corresponding bulge that appeared in the southern retaining wall a couple of years ago.
That there had been an earthquake earlier that week undoubtedly had something to do with the collapse, and maybe also the snowfall contributed in some way. But the fact is that those walls stood for more than 2000 years, despite earthquakes and snowstorms, and only now - now that the Moslems are doing new and deep excavations on the top of the Mount - do we have walls collapsing and bulges appearing.
I have no doubt that the waqf's unsupervised project on the top of the Mount is the cause. I am not sure what Israel can do to stop this, although using the Army to seal off all Arab access to the Mount and then conducting a thorough Israeli inspection would probably bring the Arab-Israeli conflicts to another flashpoint.

I think the Israel government should stay out of it, If they arabs are excavating around the wall, then I'll say the jews can excavate around their temple. Maybe by dumb bad luck their temple will fall on them. I don't much of their religion.
To: ReformedBeckite
The Arabs have been digging like beavers under the Temple on the Mount to erase any and all proof of earlier Jewish architecture. They've been carting off truckfuls of columns and corbels...to the local dump, where Israelis have carefully gone through the refuse and collected it all. I hope they have a big tent somewhere and are assembling all artifacts with an eye toward either a highly publicized exhibit, or incorporating all of it into their final Temple.

Unbeliveable, if this is true you'll think they Arabs would have the smarts to destroy what they have found.

These morons are going to cause their own bloody mosque to collapse in on itself. I hate to see anything happen to the Western Wall but it might be worth it if that damned dome of the rock pancakes.

#3 is more profound than it first appears to be. Were there a major collection effort being made to fund a rebuilding of the Temple, the Arabs would suddenly find that they could no longer afford to drag this out.

I understand that most of the Temple appliances have been gathered.
Any guesses on when the Temple will be rebuilt?

Sounds like the Muslims are trying to drop the mosque onto their own heads (but then, they can always blame the Jews).
I have read that there is a tunnel connecting two streets behind that wall--is this a legend I have read?
