This wall collapse comes about a year after another part of the wall also fell down. These are parts to the right of the Wailing Wall itself but closer to (and below the level of) the Al-Aksa mosque and the waqf's unauthorized (and suspiciously deep) excavation, and the corresponding bulge that appeared in the southern retaining wall a couple of years ago.
That there had been an earthquake earlier that week undoubtedly had something to do with the collapse, and maybe also the snowfall contributed in some way. But the fact is that those walls stood for more than 2000 years, despite earthquakes and snowstorms, and only now - now that the Moslems are doing new and deep excavations on the top of the Mount - do we have walls collapsing and bulges appearing.
I have no doubt that the waqf's unsupervised project on the top of the Mount is the cause. I am not sure what Israel can do to stop this, although using the Army to seal off all Arab access to the Mount and then conducting a thorough Israeli inspection would probably bring the Arab-Israeli conflicts to another flashpoint.

I think the Israel government should stay out of it, If they arabs are excavating around the wall, then I'll say the jews can excavate around their temple. Maybe by dumb bad luck their temple will fall on them. I don't much of their religion.
