After-Action Report from Anti-Kerry Freep, NYC, Feb. 28
Feb. 28, 2004 | firebrand

Posted on 02/28/2004 2:40:06 PM PST by firebrand

The protest rally against John Kerry went very, very well, thanks to the great organizational talents of the sponsors and the anti-Kerry enthusiasm of the Vietnamese-Americans.

At 11:30, the entire block across from Kerry's headquarters, at 373 Park Avenue South, was already crowded with Vietnam Vets and many, many Vietnamese-Americans. Freepers were at first lost in the crowd but we eventually found one another. Here is the honor roll:

NYC GOP Chick
Davide
Laserlock
Tabi Katz
Always Free (who came up from Baltimore and even took a NYC subway for the first time ever)
hellinahandcart
Coleus
Cacique
rmlew
Doctor Raoul
Clemenza
jmstein7
mich0127 (fellow law school student of jmstein)

We also were happy to see Alan Finger, of the American Flag Institute, Don Rosenberg, of the National Traditionalist Caucus, Alice from Woodside, and other constant activists from the area.

Rolling Thunder rode up, and the TV cameramen started jockeying for position. Then all the wonderful speeches, including our own Doctor Raoul, who pointed out that the flag in the ninth-floor window was backwards. Kerry, is that your office, and if so was that you, or another typical Democrat, who hung that flag?

People were interviewed by Reuters, NBC, the New York Times, and the New York Post, among many others. The rally was so big that it was hard to keep track of everything.

Firebrand handed out 200 flyers with material from the wintersoldier.com website and from elsewhere on FR. I never saw people so eager to take flyers as the people at this rally. They brought ice-cold bottled water and delicious sandwiches and flags and signs for everyone--and on top of that they read our material!

Freepers repaired to the Abbey Tavern afterward, where we ate and drank and talked freeper talk.

Big bunches of thanks to Jerry Kiley, the rally organizer, from Vietnam Veterans Against John Kerry, to the other people who worked so hard for this, and to the cooperative and protective cops of the 13th Precinct.

Many pictures were taken by freepers and will be appearing on this thread shortly. When they are up, I will ping everybody.

Thanks for being behind us in spirit, everybody. We couldn't have done even the small part that we did without you all.

How many were there? I heard 2000.

Minimum 200, close to 300, maybe more at times. Hard to tell with the sidewalk and the scaffolding. At least half, maybe 60% were Vietnamese folks. The Vietnamese speakers were very vocal about their gratitude to the US.

The dictionary defines "Patriots" as people who love, support and defend their country. Those Vietnamese I had the honor to meet today are more patriot towards their adopted country than many people born here.

Wow, bagpipers too!

And the piper is a FReeper too! I believe his screen name is PiperGeorge. Haven't seen him for a while, but he's played at a number of FR rallies in the early days.

....a nitwit on a street corner who told me that my sign was stupid!

When you're stupid, that's the best you can do. Sometimes, the libs will pull the "I don't get your sign" bullcrap on you. They all think they're clever, but a lot of them do it, so they're not original. And since it DOESN'T cause any doubts on my part about my sign, it doesn't work.

Oh for heaven's sake. People were packed in like sardines, shoulder-to-shoulder, and spilling onto Park South. There were eight hundred easy.

How many were on the island and across the street? I had a limited view from near the speakers. I should have some good photos. A sea of flags, US, Vietnam and POW/MIA.

Felt great to see the little guy, hope I don't have to disown him some day if he embarrasses the family by getting in some low class organization like artillery or infantry.

Infantry always amazed me. Who'd want to sleep on the ground for a living?

About the flag, maybe they were hanging it to look correct INSIDE the office...

I'd bet the Kerry pukes like Korney The Klown will claim that, BUT......the fact it's on the window says it's displayed for the benefit of the public and that view is the one to consider.

As I said before, Kerry's been wrong about America, so it's not surprise he's wrong about an American flag.

That must of been one that he never got around to burning with his anti-war buds.

Where's my sandwich? I really wanted one of those signs and a Vietnamese flag.

Kornblau also says that veterans who actually served with Kerry are his strongest supporters...Oh? Like the the two "Boat mates" mentioned in this story who were "deeply disturbed by his anti-war activities"? - Link......

We Vietnamese are forever grateful for the help America provided South Vietnam against the communist North. Since losing our country to the communist in 1975 America has taken us in and provided us a second home, so it's natural that we love this country no less than any native born American.
I'm happy to see my fellow Vietnamese standing up to the likes of John Kerry. We will never forget the aid & comfort he and the rest of the antiwar crowd had given to North Vietnam. I just wish that the Vietnamese community here in Southern California would take to the street to let everyone know what we really think of Benedict Kerry.
