February 28, 2004 -- Mel Gibson's controversial "The Passion of the Christ" scored a second strong day and could take in a whopping $100 million at the box office in just its first five days, experts said yesterday. Thursday's reported take by distributor Newmarket was an estimated $14.7 million, a drop from Wednesday's opening-day number of $23.6 million.

Cathy, what a great line. Both funny and a sad commentary at the same time.

'PASSION' IS HEADED FOR HOLY $UNDAY ($100 million in its first five days)If Gallop, and the like, really wants to show some real credibility in their polls, perhaps they should get their statistics strait from the horses mouth.
This time it appears the slant of the press didn't alter the publics decision in seeing what they wanted to see.

A real blessing from God is that it takes the left a boatload of lies to cover up a single truth.. and a whole movie full of them leaves a big old lump in the rug the truth is swept under...
and what movie has ever left you walking out of the theater thinking, "Oh! YEAH!" and did you know HE"S coming back again, for real, and THAT WON'T be a movie !... and if you did'nt get that from the movie you surely have a neighbor somewhere actively anticipating it and being prompted will gladly tell you "THE OTHER SIDE OF THIS STORY"..
Paul Harvey eat your heart out...LoL.. I mean amen..

I saw the movie last night with the wife and the three oldest children (19, 17, 15). It was profoundly moving and illustrative of the beating, mocking, scrouging and crucifixition of Christ.
I'm a soldier, I've seen violence -- but none of my family has. They now fully, fully understand the sin-and-evil nature of unregenerate man, and how Christ has dealt with it. They did not know true brutality until now; now they also know the true unmerited grace of God.
This movie's impact should translate into significant step in the culture war against secular humanism, against islamic terrorism, against the false sense that Christians have that 'I'm in a minority, I can not overcome this world and this age.' This is an encouragement for Christians to step up and to follow Christ.
The best part of the movie? Where the resurrected Jesus stands up in the tomb, first with an expression of love, then determination, and compassion, and strides forward to the opening and out of the camera shot. The last thing you see is the clear nailhole in His hand.
We too need to pay our price, rise up and then be about our Father's business.

The score was so much a part of the whole film experience that I didn't pay particular attention to it during the first viewing...until the closing credits...that "amen, amen," at the very end was perfect for my experience. Can't wait to hear it: I ordered it (and the book) 2nd day shipping!

Hmmmm lemme see here:
$41,337,889 for The Passion Of The Christ
$8,373,585 for The Last Temptation of Christ
Hollywood definitely does NOT get it.. $PRICELESS!!
To: Taffini
where did you find the CD?
go to Amazon.com. do a search of 'all products' for 'the passion.' You'll get a list that includes a book and the CD...book was at #3 and CD at #2 this AM!
To: Taffini
Wal-mart is carrying the movie soundtrack for only $13.99!!!
To: RoseofTexas; All
Same price on Amazon. Also, if you buy both the book and the CD you get an additonal 5% off.
Plus...and best of all...it screws with their heads to have all this Christian stuff do so well.
I wonder what the sales ranks will be for these items on Monday?!

[ The chief priests had no power to get rid of Jesus. They needed Pilate --and Roman law that prevailed---to do that for them. But Pilate as a Roman leader had no say over Jewish (religious) transgressions and had in fact said he thought Jesus was innocent. Pilate was also sensitive to his
wife begging him to save Jesus. ]
Josephus recounted that Jesus healed Pilates wife of something.. don't remember what page in my version but remember reading that... Josephus was a non religious non christian Jew too, during that time.. as far as I know the only non believer evidence of Jesus healings..

There are people out there that definately don't get it. Sad to say, some of them surprise me by their lack of understanding. I agree with your premise.
