February 24, 2004 -- WASHINGTON - The Pentagon has dispatched the elite commando force that hunted down Saddam Hussein to Afghanistan for a new operation aimed at getting Osama bin Laden, officials said yesterday. Military sources confirmed that members of the shadowy Task Force 121, the unit that conducted the high-tech search for Saddam and his henchmen, have recently begun operating in the remote mountainous region along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border where bin Laden and key al Qaeda and Taliban fugitives are believed to be hiding. The Task Force is made up of highly trained Delta and SEAL commandos, as well as CIA paramilitary operators. It operates outside normal military channels.

Our society has always been fickle toward warriors. God knows our veterans are ripped off every time it's politically expedient. Perhaps cryogenics will progress to the point where we can suspend these people with "Thaw freak only in case of emergency" labels on their cases.

Was thinking about Eisenhower, how he made sure the WWII vets got secondary education and housing and how the entire country bounded ahead of the rest of the world because of it. Amazing achievement for a man trained for war.

You're right. I went back and re-read the story. Jesus casts out the demons from a poor person who is possessed. He sent the demons into a herd of swine, that then drown themselves in the ocean. That story creeps me out too. Especially the quote, "My name is Legion, for we are many."

Man With Uranium Caught at Ukraine Border

KIEV, Ukraine - Ukrainian border guards stopped a man trying to take nearly a pound of uranium into Hungary on Tuesday, an official said.

Border guards arrested the driver of a passenger van at the Tisa checkpoint after finding a container containing the potential nuclear bomb fuel, said border guards' spokesman Yevheniy Bargman.

It was unclear whether the uranium was in natural ore form or had been enriched for potential use in reactors or weapons.
