[history]
February 24, 2004 -- WASHINGTON - The Pentagon has dispatched the elite commando force that hunted down Saddam Hussein to Afghanistan for a new operation aimed at getting Osama bin Laden, officials said yesterday. Military sources confirmed that members of the shadowy Task Force 121, the unit that conducted the high-tech search for Saddam and his henchmen, have recently begun operating in the remote mountainous region along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border where bin Laden and key al Qaeda and Taliban fugitives are believed to be hiding. The Task Force is made up of highly trained Delta and SEAL commandos, as well as CIA paramilitary operators. It operates outside normal military channels.

OK. Assuming "10 DEVIATIONS" is 10 Standard Deviations...we now need to determine the mean and distance from the mean to calculate.
BUT...
the mean of what?? This sounds like a riddle to me IMO, requiring one to guess at what is being measured here. There would be 10 different problems, but we don't know the data to input to solve for SD.
SD can be used to determine decay of different radioactive isotopes when combined, distances, time, dates... any number of variables of measurement when combined...you name it.
If anyone has any coded jihadi numbers from posts, use THEM as SD and try working the equation backwards.
OK...that's all I want to revisit college statistics. [Man that was some good S***!] /jk

I dig it, RR. I think some folks took what you wrote literally, unfortunately. I think many of us on this thread can identify with what you wrote as far as noticing that many of our families and friends do not want to know about the terrorist threat. They either want to remain positive by not thinking about it at all even though they know that more homeland terrorism is inevitable, or they think that there is no longer a terrorist threat here because our government has it under control.
Barnacle, on this thread, we all share a hunger to know and to monitor threats, unlike some of the important others in our lives. I believe this is what RR inferred.

Ha ha! They are already outsourcing border patrol...to the Mexicans guards on the other side! The guards are quite effective, too, since they are making sure that all aliens who wish to enter the U.S. can do so. The U.S. is certainly getting its money worth for this "outsourcing." And America doesn't even have to tie up its own guard manpower with border patrol to boot!

Sounds like a good guess to me. :) It'll be next week before I get any insider information. I have to network it and that takes time. However, I should be able to find out something. I mean, 8 blown tires is unheard of, imho. :)

Whoa! Very interesting Tom Ridge would say that, huh? Wonder what all their investigation in Madrid has turned up.

The following is a excerpt from and article on Japan's plans for their Homeland Security measures...note the date...another that was released this week.
Bills on Evacuation of Civilians, U.S. Cooperation Wrap Up Defense Package (03-10-04)
By NAO SHIMOYACHI
Staff writer
The Cabinet approved and submitted to the Diet seven bills Tuesday that would define citizen evacuation procedures and update cooperation with U.S. forces stationed in Japan, wrapping up the nation's war-contingency legislation.
The bills, supplementing laws enacted last year that spell out the steps to mobilize the Self-Defense Forces, are necessary to effectively defend Japan from attack, the government said

I didn't see any posts that said what I said though. Perhaps I missed some.... I am trying very hard to catch up.

Talk about organized. Wow. Ya know, I read things like this, and wonder if we've been given up on. Like maybe some parts of our Country couldn't be evacuated and that's why there is no plan for doing so.

At my last job, we had great luck with Trend Micro. We used to have Norton AV, and it was a piece of crap. It would tell us we had a virus, but after it had infected a bunch of machines. Trend caught every virus before it infected our network. I highly recommend it.
