February 24, 2004 -- WASHINGTON - The Pentagon has dispatched the elite commando force that hunted down Saddam Hussein to Afghanistan for a new operation aimed at getting Osama bin Laden, officials said yesterday. Military sources confirmed that members of the shadowy Task Force 121, the unit that conducted the high-tech search for Saddam and his henchmen, have recently begun operating in the remote mountainous region along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border where bin Laden and key al Qaeda and Taliban fugitives are believed to be hiding. The Task Force is made up of highly trained Delta and SEAL commandos, as well as CIA paramilitary operators. It operates outside normal military channels.

Sen. Clinton to Dobbs: 'No' on VP Nomination

Senator Hillary Clinton told CNN’s Lou Dobbs Wednesday night she has no interest in becoming Sen. John Kerry’s running mate on the Democratic ticket this year.
Dobbs asked Sen. Clinton, point blank, “Do you want to be vice president?”

Mrs. Clinton met the question with a chuckle, and responded: “No. I’m having a great time being senator, and talking to you about an issue that I care deeply about.”

The “issue” Mrs. Clinton referred to was the subject of her interview with Dobbs, her effort to reduce the “exporting” of U.S. jobs.

On Wednesday, Mrs. Clinton announced several proposals to prevent or discourage U.S. companies from outsourcing to foreign countries.

“Senator Clinton wants tax credits for corporations, for businesses that create and keep jobs in this country. The senator also wants to create a manufacturing research agency to advance factory innovation,” Dobbs said.

Clinton’s comments were refreshingly candid and strikingly more pro-business than Kerry's positions. Clinton admitted that the U.S. tax code was forcing some businesses to export jobs.

“We need to look at our tax code and be honest about what it does produce, the consequences of the actions that we're taking,” Clinton said.

“The debate we're having now in the Senate that was brought about because of the European Union threatening tariffs against us if we didn't end an effort to provide subsidies to manufacturers here at home gives us an opportunity to begin to create a bipartisan consensus along a range of possibilities that will help us keep jobs and prevent the exporting of America.”

Tiny Swiss Cell Chip Snags al-Qaida

A massive international investigation hinging on a tiny cellphone computer chip has resulted in the arrests of dozens of "stupid" terrorists on three continents and prevented at least three terrorist attacks.

"For two years, investigators now say, they were able to track the conversations and movements of several Qaeda leaders and dozens of operatives after determining that the suspects favored a particular brand of cellphone chip. The chips carry prepaid minutes and allow phone use around the world," the New York Times reported today.

The terrorists liked Swisscom's chip because they could it without giving their names. However, unlike the Swiss who decades ago abetted Germany's National Socialists by hiding their gold, modern-day Switzerland helped the good guys in the "cat-and-mouse game," which involved more than a dozen countries, including the United States, Great Britain, Italy, Germany, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.

"This was one of the most effective tools we had to locate Al Qaeda," a senior counterterrorism official told the Times.

The dunderheads finally caught on, but not before suffering significant damage.

One official said: "The people were stupid enough to use the same cards all of the time. It was a very good thing for us."

High-tech snooping for bin Laden

WASHINGTON (CNN) --U.S. forces searching for al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden along the mountainous border between Pakistan and Afghanistan will soon implement high-tech surveillance tactics in the region, enabling them to monitor the area 24 hours a day, seven days a week, CNN has learned.

It's believed that the constant surveillance of the border region and the "squeeze play" by U.S. and Pakistani forces surrounding the mountainous frontier will present the best chance ever to net the world's most-wanted terrorist, who has eluded capture since U.S. troops launched a search for him in late 2001.

Top administration officials believe bin Laden may begin to feel the heat from the troops now hunting him and might start to move.

"We are putting the pieces in place to throw the net over him," one official told CNN.

Among the devices that will be in place within days are U-2 spy planes flying at 70,000 feet, taking pictures, using radar and intercepting communications.

Unmanned Predator drones, flying closer at 25,000 feet, are equipped with cameras that can spot vehicles and people and special radar that can operate through clouds. Some of the Predators may also carry Hellfire missiles.

Ground sensors may also be placed along mountain passes to listen for vehicles.

Data from the planes and sensors will be sent via satellite to analysts for quick action. The U.S. military has bought up satellite transmission capacity in the region, to ensure it can respond quickly.

But none of the measures are being acknowledged officially.

"Of course you've heard and seen in the press that Osama bin Laden is surrounded, we have him cornered and we know where he is, etc., etc. And of course, we don't know that," said Gen. John Abizaid, commander of the U.S. Central Command, in an interview with PBS' Jim Lehrer.

Abizaid added that there are no U.S. troops on Pakistani soil, and said U.S. efforts with the Pakistanis are focused on cooperation and coordination.

When asked if he thought bin Laden would be captured this year, the general said he had no way of knowing.

But, he said, "I think that we will make it very painful for al Qaeda between now and the end of the year."

Russian Engineers Reportedly Gave Missile Aid to Iraq

WASHINGTON, March 4 — A group of Russian engineers secretly aided Saddam Hussein's long-range ballistic missile program, providing technical assistance for prohibited Iraqi weapons projects even in the years just before the war that ousted him from power, American government officials say.

Iraqis who were involved in the missile work told American investigators that the technicians had not been working for the Russian government, but for a private company. But any such work on Iraq's banned missiles would have violated United Nations sanctions, even as the Security Council sought to enforce them.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A 14-month investigation by the U.S. Coast Guard and FBI has uncovered nine merchant mariners with possible terrorist links, raising renewed concerns that U.S. ships and ports are vulnerable to attack.

Coast Guard spokeswoman Jolie Shifflet said on Thursday that "Operation Drydock," prompted by national security concerns after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, had also led to the arrest of about a dozen others whose active arrest warrants for crimes from minor misdemeanors to attempted murder had long gone unnoticed.

The Coast Guard said it investigated the records of more than 200,000 people who hold U.S. merchant mariner credentials.

Noory (Coast to Coast AM on radio), is saying that the Elk in Wyoming that died, may be a toxin, as in testing something on them, all the expected causes of the deaths have been ruled out.

A couple hours ago, I woke up to KNX radio out of California (have no idea how they got dialed on the radio, must be playing in my sleep). The traffic report, kept talking about the roads would be opened "when the unidentified burning materials is removed from the tracks". Don't now if it was the fast rail system or the regular train tracks, but this is the second "burning stuff on the tracks" in the past day or so.

When I think of blaming the gov for not telling us the truths of what is happening, I take a minute and realize that the American citizen does not want the truth. The truth to them is what is happening in sports and the movies.

On this thread, the group works to find all the news and that is still not enough, we miss so much.

Our local radio is Clear Channel station, the only local talk program is a **** ***** fool who thinks that talking about his weight and push ups and failures of such, is news.

He does quickie interviews with liberals and commies who have a book to sell and then it is back to nonsense.

The local FM music stations are owned by the same company.

I am sure that our town is only one of many, that does not have news available to them. The local paper is the same.

People think that I am nuts, when I tell them that I can get more news at Free Republic, than they ever will on the TV.

Somehow, citizens have to face the fact that we are in a fight to the death, for our country and indeed the entire world.

The muslims intend to take us over, the communists are sure that by working with the muslims, they will defeat us and we are being defeated.

I think of the young lady, who had married a Pakistan man and told me that her mixed blood children were the future of the world, she truly believed that to save the world, we need to be one race, not the many we have now.

Those old papers at etext.org tell the entire story, the communists say that the borders of the United States must remain open, that America needs the different races.

Once you read that and get the message it sends, then you understand what the fools believe.

Then it comes back to the fact that half of the United States will vote for the communist/democrat ticket and you see where our problems are.

The elites do not feel that the peon's have a need to know.

I'm still pretty young, and I just recently figured this out. A few years ago when I was a bit more naive and idealistic, I thought I could wake people up by trying to show them the "truth". It turned out that I just came off like a raving lunatic. I ended up alienating a lot of good friends and family because I came off as so smug, superior, and self-important to them. I regret what I did, but I have learned a valuable lesson. Almost everyone wants to stay asleep. Trying to run around convert everyone like a frothing street preacher just pisses off those who are most important to you. I've found the best thing to do is to just be a good listener and you can make more positive progress that way. You cannot change anyone, but you can nudge them in the right direction if their heart is already open to a new path.

Thanks to the RINO members of the FCC commission, the rules governing ownership percentages in broadcast markets were severely relaxed, allowing Clear Channel to get their hands on almost 50% of the stations. I suspect this will only get worse, and we can expect broadcast media to be mostly controlled by one megacorp. It pretty much is already, because CC owns the biggest and most popular stations in each market. I just pray to God that the Internet can remain fairly unregulated. Although I seriously doubt that will happen either.

With all due respect, as someone who is mixed race and the son of a legal immigrant, I have to disagree. Race is not the problem. Culture is the problem. I'm all for people of any race legally immigrating to the US, but damn it, they need to assimilate into our culture, not try to turn us into their little turd-world country (to borrow from Savage). We are having culture wars, plain and simple. I'm am American first and foremost, not a Hypenated-American. We need to retain our American culture, which is where we derive our strength. The libs/commies are eroding our culture at an alarming rate, same-sex marriage is a case in point. "Tolerance" and getting us to accept all of these other cultures is just another way to run the USA into the ground. Look at that picture of the Shi'a who cut his baby's head with a sword. Are we supposed to let that happen here in the US because it's a part of this person's culture?

Race is not the problem Culture is, that is very true.

My family is also of many races, I have no problem with "natural race mixing", I do have a problem with people who have been brainwashed to the point that they think that it must be done.

I would not care to live in a world that was only one race.

One of the joys of my life, has been in learning about the traditions of other cultures.

What is happening to our country is so unreal to me, that at times I have trouble even understanding what I do know.

It is good that you are the son of a legal immigrant, that is what built this country in the beginning, to me they are the backbone of America.

I can even understand the illegal immigrant, as a mother, I would hope that I would have attempted to flee Mexico or Cuba and bring my family to America.

It is the communist need to rule the world that I object to.

It is even the type of person who would follow the communist path that scares me.

In attempting to understand the "Not wanting to face the truths of today", I am reminded of a friend, who was told by a neighbor that her husband was out with another woman.

My friend said to me " I wish she had not told me, as I will not leave him, I married him for life and will live my life with him". She did over 50 years. But it does describe the average person, they do not want to know.

It is not only the radio stations, do a check on almost any type of sales company and you will find that in the past ten years, all the companies have come under one ownership.

Breakfast cereals are one that comes to mind, Gas companies are another and our household utility companies.

We are coming under subtle control.

Yes, I have a bad name in my family, always yelling about the commies and being told "Reagan defeated them, the wall is down".

If I could get out, I would be tempted to go around posting the communist manifesto on all the local bulletin boards.
