THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST.. (A HIT OR A MISS?).. Live thread!Contrary to popular media pronouncements, the first of the commercial showing of this long awaited, landmark, and controversial film has already debuted and the misconceptions that the fate of this endeavor hangs in the balance.. That is HOGWASH.. The Passion of the Christ is on the brink of a record breaking opening, in spite of the limited available screens, and the all out, and outragous efforts on the part of the National Media's near unanimous rejection, and the Hollywood establishment roadblocks to stymie this motion picture and it's brilliant and courageous director/producer..
I just receive a call from friends that attended a church sponsored midday showing of the movie with more than 850 of their fellow flock. The collective response was "it was sobering and breathtaking, and they existed with a profound feeling of moral inadequacy".
I toyed with the idea of accepting an invitation to book a private showing at a local theater for this weekend, however after calling a few local churches to help fill the seats I discovered that all (I call 12) of the parishes and neighborhood churches had already secured their own private dates with sellout crowds.. Every one of them had sold the seats within a day of their announcements... I just may book a threater in three weeks for all of my friends and family, that wish to watch it again, and again..

I believe that Carlo3b above meant "exited" not "existed."I hope so, or I'm doomed.
To: humblegunner

It figures...A person adds insight into something, and suddenly He's a TROLL. Give me a break!
Here is a "Troll" question: When the Bible was being translated into English, What Religion hindered this project?
To: GOPologist; carlo3b
Sorry for repeat.
BTW, carlo3b, on second thought the word, "existed" may be a better description.
To: MasterCommie_hunter
"...I didn't read that anywhere in the Bible."
I didn't read about trolls in the bible and yet I still have to deal with them.

Outrageous! Protestant disagreement with Roman Catholicism is not catholic bashing. In fact your slander of this poster is unfair and uncalled for. He made some very good points.
Tell me what was bashing about this post!

As someone with no dog in this inter-Christian fight (I'm Jewish), I winced at the Catholic-bashing in the removed posts.
Oops! Make that "intra-Christian fight"!

My comment was posted to use absurdity to expose absurdity - and I refuse to use that "slash sarcasm" thingy, because it defeats the purpose of sarcasm.
As you were.

Evidently it is a sin to disagree with the diefication of Mary around here. Guess the lead moderator is a Roman Catholic. The offending poster pointed out that dollars from this film would go to build Mel's private church and good Protestants might not wish to do that given our age old disagreements with Rome and the Pope.

I just spoke with 3 members of my Church. We are going to buy a whole showing maybe in a couple of weeks on Sunday afternoonl. Two churches where I live have bought out the theater for the first two days. Bring popcorn and a friend (preferably someone who NEEDS to here the message).

Well said about saying a Rosary for "MC-H."
Christ preached, "Love thy neighbor...." I do, but I'm having a "little" trouble with loving "MC-H."

No, it was the manner in which he pointed it out -- and the fact that he did so in a thread that wasn't the right place for it, IMO.

****Totally uncalled for on your part. Religious freedom is allowed here I think.****
Boy was I wrong.
I did not know FR was a Roman Catholic site. Sheesh ..... all these years.
