What is a Troll???? I was taught as a young child that a troll is a hideous creature that live under a bridge that wants to harm children.
Apparently, there are a few subscribers to Free Republic that consider themselves the Troll Patrol.
Some authors of Posts to the Free Republic website are accused of being "Trolls". These people, whom call themselves the Troll Patrol, are trying to intimidate Americans who are wanting to express their thoughts and concerns to keep their thoughts to themsleves. This is an attempt to enforce censorship or pressure someone not to express themselves.
I would like to say to the Troll Patrol that this in not the old USSR or Nazi Germany in the 40's. This is the United States of America and we do have freedom of speech in this country.
If you want to find trolls, I suggest that you visit Sherwood Forrest there are probaly a few lurking around.
God Bless the United States and Protect Us From the Troll Patrol.

This account has been banned or suspended. ... which settles the whole (purportedly) knotty issue of whether or not the poster in question actually was "trolling" or not fairly definitively, I'd say... :)

Please understand that it IS typical troll behavior to hit and run. Not seeing you after posting a rather pot-stirring thread, people tend to assume the worst.
So the Netiquette is, for next time, if you post a vanity and have to go away, just say so. Or you can wear your flame-repellant suit for when you get back.

JR ... is the only one who has ever pulled a thread on me. Or maybe my sarcasm requires a higher power? After being on this awhile, I learnt almost everyone (except maybe Kathy In Alaska) has been down that road I've never had a thread pulled (except if it's a duplicate that I didn't catch when doing a search), been banned, suspended, or warned. And, as my personal profile page reminds me, "You've posted a total of 76 threads and 13,026 replies" (signed on in 1998). (Let's not go into how many hours online that translates to!)

If I were you, I would lurk for a few weeks and learn the ropes. Excellent advice.
omnix, he doesn't disallow them, but JimRob discourages the posting of vanity threads. They take up bandwidth and he suggests that if you have questions, often they can be answered by posting them to an already-existing thread that's on that topic or a related topic.

I was surprised to read your post that omnix was banned - I wonder what was in the several posts that were deleted.

It amazes me how many people misinterpret the 1st Amendment to mean they can say anything they want, ANYWHERE without reproach. Must be the public school system. This forum was founded in part because someone was fighting an existing private forum owner (Prodigy) over his ability to say and post and read what he wanted and they denied his ability to do that.

I didn't buy a gun yet, but a friend's brother-in-law is a gun dealer and has a range behind his house. He has a whole collection of guns for me to try. Can't wait!

Well Christmas came early for you this year, didn't it! I like giving gifts...
To: CharacterCounts
Do you live under a bridge? No. I live under a roof, silly.
To: Ole Okie
Yep. I also love the notion that, 'I have a right to ________.' Most people believe they have a right to do anything as well. It's the consequences they can't handle.

Golly, from princess to troll in a matter of 100 posts. I'm honored.

I haven't purchased a gun yet, but a friend's BIL is a gun dealer, and said he'd let me shoot a variety of guns at his range.

Excuse me. When my Fed taxes are more than $15k/year right now? Why the HELL not?Because our founding fathers created a Republic, not a democracy?
