Explosive Story: GOP has asked British SS to bug phones of American political candidates!
Posted on 02/15/2004 8:36:43 AM PST by Hillary's Lovely Legs
FOX NEWS 11:25am EST 2-15-2004
Fox news is interviewing John Loftus, Formers Justice Department Prosectutor who states that he has an inside scoop that "the Republican Party has asked the British Secret Service to bug phones of American political Candidates. "
FOX NEWS Eric Shawn: "It's a very serious and very shocking story."
JOHN LOFTUS: "That allegation seems very storng of that is the case. Why would any political party want to bug someone else?
It's a juicy way of running a smear campaign behind the works. We have been doing that for about 50 years and it started with president Roosevelt. He had signed a secret treaty with Britian in 1943 that let them each set up listening posts on each other's soil with no search warrants. It's a great little scheme. "
"So the British can use American computers to bug American politicians, and the Americans can use British computers to bug British politicians and each side can truthfully say that they aren't spying on their own citizens. They are just trading information under the table."
ERIC: How widespread is this. Members of the Security Council admitted to me that they are being bugged and that it wasn't surprising, they expected that.
JOHN: "What congress doesn't realise is that this is meant to favor one party only. In 1978 Carter tried to ban taping without a court order. So the bill is that the NSA cannot target american citizens, but not other countries from doing it. "

When Civil War II breaks out, I'm glad I'll by on the side that is pro-gun.
Mark my words, folks. It's coming.

BS, we are at WAR. Something the evil dums don't acknowledge. Monsieur Kerry and his elk have PROVEN their willingness to wage WAR on the United States. Read his Senate testimony from the 70's. My question to you is WHO WOULD THE TERORISTS VOTE FOR?This may be our last chance to arm up before the terrorists Democrats start disarming us.
Clinton waged a guerilla war against our most cherished institutions, the Constitution and the Presidency.
The job was left unfinished by a surprising Bush victory in 2000.
The next Democrat will continue trying to erode our American values.

At first glance, his background does very much discredit this story, imho.

I do - it's called Democrat fatigue.
As soon as a Democrat starts running for office, the same old, same old gets dragged out and tossed around.
Do you think Americans will embrace more Democrats in office by November?
If anything, I see incumbent Democrats getting tossed overboard.
I have office mates who are not interested in politics one way or the other, but they hate Kerry's gutts because they heard endless Bush AWOL stories and connected the two for some reason. Apparently, they don't/didn't care about the issue, but blame Kerry for its overexposure.
I can't specifically recall Kerry doing endless talk shows about Bush/AWOL, but something is going on that we are missing.

I'm kind of amazed that you were the only one to note 'Project Echelon'. I would've assumed that all Freepers would know about it.
As such, this is a non-story wacko-conspiracy theory being pushed. BECAUSE the DNC isn't being 'targeted'. Hell we all are being 'watched' by the Brits MI-6 (or is it MI-5), the Aussies and I think canada too - all in conjunction with the NSA. And BTW it started under Willard's reign.
In short, Project Echelon monitors every single email, and as I recall cell phone call in the WORLD. Our NSA monitors for our allies and they monitor us. Only certain key words are looked for and if they 'get a hit', our allies inform our FBI of a 'possible threat'.
Back in the early or mid 1990's a woman in Michigan sent an email to a freind about her daughters school play. In the email she used the word 'Hillary' (her daughters name) and BOMB - as in the play was a bomb. A couple days later the FBI showed up at her door, took her into custody for questioning and kept her for a couple days as I recall.
The key word list contains about 500 words as I remember. The list was once available online. For the hell of it I would sometimes copy every key word and send that to a friend. In my closing paragraph, I'd say hello to the NSA & the FBI and ask if they always wear dark sun glasses, even if it's raining. I wasn't concerned because I've been through so many security clearance and FBI background checks my file is about two inches thick anyway.
Do a Google search and get ready for some reading, it's very enlightening and makes the Patriot Act look like your local traffic laws.

Not only that, but since when does the British Secret Service take requests from a political party (GOP) This reeks of Evil Dum disinformation. Fits their Goebbels play book.
Yep... and the Dem's have already chosen as their strategy to try to smear and damage Bush's integrity in any way possible.
We have a lot more of these wild conspiracy stories to look forward to... the left will be slinging unfounded mud EXACTLY like this from now until November.

We are more divided by political party and ideology than ever before in this country.
When I watch CNN and lately FNC, I don't feel like they even live in the same world I live in.
Urging everyone to Freep FNC regarding this matter.

well if there a spy or someone is releasing info this is legal.

The strategy is obviously to keep Bush on the defensive by making wild accusations that he must defend against...even if they're untrue. Most people will hear the accusation but not the rebuttal. And we watch the media (including Fox) run full speed ahead from the perspective of the DNC. Time and time again.
It is the DNC that is dictating the terms of the accusation and the type of proof required to rebut it. Once that proof is offered, they simply move the goal posts and the compliant media says "Yeah, what about THAT?"
To: mabelkitty
I was at the gym the other day and several people told me they were concerned about Bush's spending and thinking of not voting at all, but have gotten so ticked at Kerry and the AWOL story they now consider themselves broken glass Republicans.
Then I went to a luncheon and heard every single person at my table recount the same ideas and concerns. They are all voting for Bush, despite some misgivings.
I think the DNC overreached on this one and it backfired on them.

See, I wish I was more savvy on these types of issues, but something happened - I just can't figure out when and where.
It may have been the Jane Fonda connection or maybe it was the dragged out AWOL issue. Kerry doesn't seem to understand that many millions of people didn't go and went to college to avoid the war. It was their choice.
But for Kerry and the DNC to slime someone as beneath contempt because they joined the ANG, what does that say about the rest of Americans who didn't even do that? I think some people took it personal - who knows. Perhaps some started asking their dads what they did in the war, and dad had no answer.
I see the next President of the United States (in 2008) to be a veteran of the first Iraq war.
Having a debate on Vietnam only resonates with Baby Boomers - the rest of us are being ignored.
