Woman in Kenya denies Affair with John Kerry in a letter to campaign

"I just wanted to say that I reported for duty all required times, at the appointed midnight hour, and I can attest that Kerry was there - and we didn't even have sex. Not even once."

That should put all this to bed...

I tend to agree with you. As I said - I believe that Kerry has serious women problems in his past. Of course he does. But, like you said - not with this one. This isn't panning out correctly.

"Well, there's been something fishy about this from the very beginning. Although I predicted some time ago that Kerry would have women problems during this campaign, this particular woman isn't the one. She's conducted herself credibly throughout this thing."

What are you talking about? How has she conducted herself at all?

All we know is what her parents said. And that she seems to have gone off to Kenya.

And now we hear there is a letter, that might be from her, denying it.

Except for the letter, she hasn't conducted herself at all.

Talk about making stuff up out of thin air. Sheesh.

"Kerry is a Boy Toy!"

Kerry reminds me of every dorky guy, with sweaty palms and the personality of a donut, that girls have to dance with in 6th grade co-ed P.E. class during the "unit" on square-dancing!!

Perhaps she conducted the affair via some other medium.

ROFLMAO.

Well, we know now why the networks avoided this story. I kept wondering how anyone thought that, absent the support of this young woman, this story was going to lead to anything but a lawsuit.

You have tried to warn the others that this should be dropped. But they do not seem to heed.

I am sufficiently fed up with the Administration's Rove approach, that I really do not have a horse in this. But I hate to see Republican Conservatives--even moderate Conservatives--continue to make the same mistake. The concentration on the Monica Lewinski scandal, rather than the wrong-headed policies of the Clinton Administration, cost the Republicans in both 1998 and 2000. It back-fired, as frankly it was obvious that it was going to do.

For one party to carp on the private indiscretions of individuals in the other party, appears to be a cheap shot--along the lines of those hypocrites who continued to stone fallen women, after being admonisthed, "Let he who is innocent, cast the first stone." The politicians of this earth are not a bunch of innocents. There are very few who lead pristine lives. And if you do not want the party to appear to be a bunch of hypocrites, of the type who peek through key-holes to expose others for doing things which they do themselves; you never take up this type of issue.

If you keep out of it, and let the press just feed the gossip mills, the gossips will damage your opponent with some segments of the population. That will take care of itself. But when you (I don't mean you, who have warned against it, but the party faithful, generally) rush in and take a sanctimonious tone, when everyone in the world knows that your interest is partisan advantage, and an excuse to avoid the actual public issues, a reaction sets in, and the advantage from the gossip that you did not join, is wholly lost.

If there was such a thing as Politics 101, for would-be politicians; this would be part of the first semester curriculum. It is very basic, and the fact that so many Republicans do not understand it, is why we keep snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

Except for the letter, she hasn't conducted herself at all.

Well, what would you prefer her to do? She's stayed away from the center of the controversy - not putting herself out in the middle of it like Clinton's women. Remember Monica on SNL and Paula's press conferences? Instead, Polier has simply stayed where she was and largely ignored the controversy. Then, when her picture is being published and her name is being smeared, she sends a letter. She doesn't come out with a huge story, she simply sends a letter and goes on about her way.

Doing nothing is conducting herself. That's what you're missing here.

No.....his description was pretty sketchy, kinda like "ok we all know about this rumor circulating on the internet"...but he DID NOT name her....

How can these supposed newsmen stomach themselves? Perhaps they should start each newscast with a list of foreign newspapers to go to to find out what the news in America is.

It all rested on her supporting this story. I wonder why Matt Drudge thought that this apparently moderate to liberal journalist would be anxious to go to bat for the GOP in this kind of thing. Judgement.

I don't even think Ken Starr can help now.

I have no idea if Polier and Kerry had something going. But I do recall the progression of the Monica story when Drudge broke it. He had his tidbits and then we were informed that the intern had signed an affadavit denying a relationshiop. Posters did they same thing "well, that's that", and then we learned there were tapes.

Say, Drudge mentioned a tape in this case, too!

I'd say it ain't over yet.

And why you mention the GOP is a mystery. How does they woman in question or this story at all relate to the GOP? It doesn't, except as interested---very interested, indeed---observers.

LOL! If the networks avoided the story it wasn't for fear of any lawsuits. If this had been about W they would have been on it like botox on Kerry.

There is said to be other corroborating material, even a letter or letter(s). There is said to be a friend of the girl, who has talked about this.

Remember, even the parents have said Kerry pursued her.

I agree with just about everything you said, except for the insinuation that Rove or the Bushies are pushing it. I see exactly the opposite.

As for keeping your eye on the ball, you are right. Kerry's record sucks. His denigration of the military he served in is an albatross he won't be able to shake. His proposals suck. He is a disaster on defense and national security, not to mention taxes and the economy.

We don't need this fire drill. Let the media follow it. We don't need to try to push it or lead it.

Actually, this isn't about Rove or the GOP. They have stayed well above the fray.

You have forgotten any number of things that point AWAY from GOP dirty tricks.

#1. According to the Congressional Quarterly and other publications, Chris Lehane, former Clinton staffer, has been shopping this story for weeks to the media.

#2. Wesley Clark told 3 reporters about Kerry's bimbo problem that would erupt this week. He was heard a few days ago yelling at reporters: "That was off the record."

#3. According to the Chicago Sun TImes and other organizations, Al Gore was going to choose Kerry as his vice presidential running mate in 2000 but decided Kerry's bimbo problems were too serious to overcome.

She's conducted herself credibly throughout this thing

Yes, hiding out in Kenya and refusing to answer questions is always the high road. How about a flat out denial on camera?

If denying by letter, why not to the media that's pursuing her and not the campaign?

Whatever she's done has added to, not detracted from, the mystery.
