Allegations against Vietnam war hero John Kerry today threatened his runaway presidential campaign.
Right-wing news web site The Drudge Report which broke the Monica Lewinsky scandal claimed a woman close to Senator Kerry recently left America at his behest.
It also reported that his former rival for the Democratic nomination, General Wesley Clark, told reporters in an off-the-record conversation last week: Kerry will implode over an intern issue.
Internet columnist Matt Drudge said three reporters could confirm the comments by former Nato Supreme Allied Commander Clark, who quit the race for the partys nomination yesterday amid poor results.
He also claimed that Time magazine, ABC News, Washington Post and Associated Press where the woman in question was said to have once worked had been investigating her relationship with Kerry for several days.
Decorated Vietnam veteran Kerry is married to Theresa Heinz Kerry, the wealthy heiress to the food empire.
Drudge claimed a close friend of the mystery woman approached a reporter late last year claiming fantastic stories.
He also suggested that behind-the-scenes panic in the Kerry camp was prompting former campaign front-runner, former Vermont Governor Howard Dean, to increase his attacks on Kerry in the last few days.
Drudge said that explained why Dean decided to reverse his decision to drop out of the race if he failed to win the Wisconsin primary on February 17.
Senator Kerry, from Massachusetts, is currently the runaway favourite to win the Democratic ticket to run against President George Bush in November.
He has won 12 of the 14 state primaries and caucuses held so far.
Kerry was born on December 11, 1943 in Denver, Colorado. He has two children from his first marriage, and three step-children with his current wife.
A Kerry campaign spokesman had no immediate comment in response to the claims.

Exactly. I expect JFK to get a healthy bump in the polls out of this. So many Dems will feel sorry for him that the mean ole Repubs are prying into his private life, etc.

"Then, if Dean could surge into the nomination, that would restore my faith in Hildabeast's evil consciousness and will to do anything for power."
Another great scenario would be for Dean to go Independant and split the party vote. Anything is possible with these people, and I agree fully with your comment "it will play out as it will". Gotta admit that it fun being a spectator and a "what if" speculator!

Hysterical. You may want to add a 12:30 doctor's appointment (preferably with nurse present) to remedy the Cialis' side effect.

There was something a few years ago re: Kerry and a woman late at night...someone thought it was the Boston Globe..but I have not been able to find it.
Actually, there's a thread here today reminiscing about that very instance.

Very few. Tonight story will concern "Campaign Dirty Tricks" and "The Politics of Personal Destruction. They might include this story
Military Dentist Doesn't Recall Bush
The White House late Wednesday released a copy of a dental evaluation Bush had at Dannelly Air National Guard Base in Montgomery on Jan. 6, 1973, which Bush's spokesman said documented that the president had served in Alabama as required.
What a biased headline!! The dentist recognized his own signature on the records. It doesn't matter if he doesn't remember Bush.

Press Release from Kerry Campaign headquarters:
"Senator Kerry regrets the recent charges of infidelity, and encourages supporters not to believe anything not first reported by the NY Times. With regards to any relationship he had with this woman, there is a simple explanation: Senator Kerry provided aid and comfort to the orphan of a Vietnamese soldier who was gunned down by an American patrol boat, who was then chased down and shot at pointblank range while trying to escape."

The source of the story was said to be Clarks press chief Chris Lehane, who worked for Kerry before switching sides. Another Kerry rival, Howard Dean, has reversed his decision to quit the race because of the scandal.
And the beat goes on and on!
