Will Mexicans cheer 'Osama' again?

U.S. soccer team to play for Olympic spot in Guadalajara

Things could get ugly in Guadalajara tomorrow when the U.S. soccer team plays Mexico for Olympic qualification.

Last Thursday, when the U.S. played Canada in a qualifying round in Zapopan before 1,500 Mexicans, the crowd hooted "The Star-Spangled Banner," it booed U.S. goals. And it chanted "Osama! Osama! Osama" as the American players left the field with a 2-0 victory.

Tomorrow, 60,000 fans are expected to watch the game that will determine which team goes to Athens.

The Mexicans are hoping for revenge. The U.S. team knocked Mexico out of the World Cup in 2002.

The Guadalajara police are already mobilizing to control highly charged soccer fans and to protect U.S. team players in case things get out of hand.

If Yogi or Snagglepuss develop a palate for man-flesh, the most likely first victims will be illegals -- probably women or children. This also makes things a lot more dangerous for legitimate hikers and campers here; the critters are not going to ask about nationality first.

This will be bad for everyone. I hate the thought of having to shoot wild animals because we're on their turf, but watch and see if Vincente Fox doesn't demand it when his people start getting eaten.

Oh, ok. I'm not up on the Olympics, except maybe the ice skating.

we can chant deport , deport, deport! or just yell INS and watch the scramble.

Hahahaha! Reminds me of a neighbor of ours, back about 25 yrs ago. He used to drive down the street shouting, "La Migra!" Lol, that was funny, but you had to be there to see people actually run ;-)

"I am hoping we can get my governor kicked out of New Mexico."

Good luck. Your governor is Mexican by heritage, and is very favorably disposed towards Mexico. New Mexico will never again have a governor who is not of Mexican heritage. California is five, maybe ten years away from the very same thing. Better get used to it.

Mexico has never, EVER, been a friend of the United States.

"When they start shooting up my neighborhood, spraypainting the side of my house, receiving additional public assistance for their 7th child, and refusing to converse with me in English ... the Scots will be in my personal top 5."

Amen to that.

"I never did figure out what the symbolism of that was. I still don't."

Their allegiance is strictly to Mexico. Their only association with America is to use it as their own personal ATM machine. The deep, abject hatred for America that so very many of these illegals foster is frightening to behold, and I see it every damn day of my life. They have nothing but contempt for America and Americans.

Chicago is almost as bad. There are sections of Chicago -- indeed, entire towns in Chicago -- that are virtually all Mexican, with most of those being illegal. The American flag is seldom if ever seen in those areas, and if it is, it is used as a blanket or a tarp. The only time you'll hear the English language spoken is when an American citizen takes a wrong turn and is heard pleading for his or her life. It's taht bad, folks, and it's getting worse. Illegal Mexicans are being arrested here on a daily basis for committing horrific and violent and vicious crimes. Still, our leaders suck up to them like nothing you've ever seen. Chicago's mayor, a semi-literate, dwarfish buffoon, has so coddled up to them that they are not only represented in virtually every department in City government, they control many of them, and hire their family members en masse. There is a big scandal in Chicago right now involving graft and corruption, and at the heart of it is a Mexican gangbanger who was put in charge of the department, and he passed on some $40 million to his friends and associates. And Chicago's despotic mayor refuses to say who gave this gangbanger the job, or why.

There isn't a Mexican soldier within 12,000 miles of the Middle East.

"Obviously far too many of today's immigrants hate America and its citizens, and are just using us for jobs or welfare. Why do we need these people, legal or illegal? Why are we letting them all in? Why are we doing this to ourselves?"

We've been infected by the PC and multicultural virus, and it's fatal. I, too, want my country back. And I'm going to take it back.

But don't you know that these soccer fans represent every Mexican, just like the English hooligan soccer fans represent the English.

I don't remember English soccer hooligans chanting "Osama, Osama, Osama" the last time the U.S. played England in a soccer match.

There is a freeper who is from Australia (Byron is his name I think) who posted on another thread weeks ago said that the hard-line policies of Prime Minister Howard has stemmed the flow of illegals in his country. Even the Labor Party of Australia supported Howards actions.

Australia is #1! (Well, actually #2, after the U.S.)

" I never did figure out what the symbolism of that was. I still don't"

Kind of like flying a smaller state flag under the American Flag. An order of allegence. I would think this meant Mexico first, America second. (I saw many flying American flags upside down. I felt that was done as an insult by people who didn't know flying the flag upside down is a distress symbol.)

Makes you wonder. Here in LA, we have a bunch of "Mexican Pride" stuff. Cinco de Mayo festivals in which the streets are closed, etc, etc. They riot in the streets of East LA when the Mexican soccer team wins a game.

Not to mention, Mexican flags are literally everywhere.

What I don't understand is ... if Mexico is so great and they are so proud to be from there ... why are so many of them risking life and limb on a daily basis to get out of there?

They way they are fleeing the place, you'd think they would have nothing but hate, contempt, and loathing for the place. They sure as heck don't want to be deported back there. Shouldn't they be "proud" to go back if they have such an allegiance?

Seems kind of twisted logic. If they love Mexico so much, and love flying the Mexican flag, why don't they simply move 120 miles to the south and be in that great, wonderful, proud country?

Their actions and the symbolism just don't match up. Actually, very little of it makes sense.

It shocks me people would actually chant, "Usama! Usama! Usama!" Has me thinking Tora! Tora! Tora! from the 1940's.

Very unsportsmanlike. There were over 2,500 dead -- some from every part of the world -- in the attacks unleashed by Usama bin Laden on that September day in 2001.

There were Mexican citizens that are in our military and seeking citizenship in America that got it. I thought those would be current immigrants fighting for their adopted country. Am I wrong?

I am a veteran, and am an officer in our local American Legion post. Over the years I have had the opportunity to speak with a great many veterans, from a wide range of posts, and most of the veterans with whom I spoke who were immigrants, primarily from Mexico, all said, almost to a man, that if there were a war between the United States and Mexico, they would fight on the side of Mexico. Their common comment was that Mexico was "La tierra de mi madre," or "The land of my Mother." They said their allegiance is to their ancestral country rather than to their adopted country; but a handful did say that it depended upon what the war was being fought about.

The IOC needs to investigate and if they see guilt in Mexico, throw Mexico out of the Olympics as penalty for praising terrorists.
