OK, since this is my night for conspiracy theories, try this one on for size: We already bagged OBL as Sean Osborne said. Let's look at the circumstantial evidence.

1. Earlier this year, our military announced that they were "sure" they would capture OBL by the end of the year.

2. It's an election year, and Bush would benefit greatly from the capture of OBL, but it's not yet time to tip his hand. Like the October Surprise. Also, I think if we did have him, we would keep it quiet while the terror threat was high. We could have some serious terrorism problems if the world knows we got him. Kind of a last ditch effort to retain credibility and relevance.

3. Now we are getting reports that we have him surrounded in Pakistan, and it's only a matter of time before we swoop in on Blackhawks and grab him??? Very strange story, if you ask me.

4. Reports of media converging in Pakistan for a huge event. The same country where OBL is supposedly holed up in a cave.

I'm sure I've missed some pieces, but you get my point. All the news sounds way too convenient.

question on your theory....
why if we caught him in Iran would we be making such an elaborate show to now catch him in Pakistan/Afghanistan border area? Just curious as to what people think about this.

I think it happened exactly as Sean reported. Too many pieces fit together conveniently. I have a feeling we made some rather explicit threats to Iran- that was right around the time period where it was "leaked" that the US was planning to hit Iran next. Iran gets to deny it harbored/gave up OBL- we guarantee not to attack them. Also, I'm beginning to think we may be planning action in Pakistan. Ie- who has control of the Paki nukes?

Not only convenient, but it now smacks of official cover-up, and makes the deal with Iran regarding OBL's capture on their territory all the more likely.

Does anyone remember the Iranian press release i cited three weeks ago about Italian Foreign Minister Franco Frattini's meeting with the Iranians on our behalf, less that a week after the first report of OBL's capture and the immediate denial by the US State department???

If you've forgotten, let me post a quick reminder...and remember, the first public reports and rumors in this specific time period about OBL's capture began on January 22.

The immediate denials by the US State Department began...January 22.

http://www.iribnews.com/Full_en.asp?news_id=197459&n=36

I will quote the key excerpt...

"Right after leaving Iran, Italy's Minister of Foreign Affairs Franco Frattini on Wednesday (January 28th) informed in detail the US Secretary of State Colin Powell on phone of his Tuesday (January 27th) talks with Iranian officials ... the communique also bears some comments on the stand taken by Iran regarding the current international affairs, saying "Tehran, aware of the international community's concerns regarding issues such as weapons of mass destruction (WMDs), human rights, and terrorism, has announced its full readiness to cooperate with the west in those fields."

Here it is Feb 22 and 135 newpapers and other sources are now reporting about in imminent US SOF snatch and grab mission...AND THERE ISN'T A PEEP OF PROTEST FROM WASHINGTON ABOUT THE COMPROMISE OF A SUPPOSEDLY CLANDESTINE US SOF OPERATION????

Where is that turnip truck I fell off of???

There is no official protest or denial because the OBL snatch and grab operation occured a month ago.
