SANAA, Yemen, Jan. 24 (UPI) -- A purported statement by al-Qaida in Yemen warned Saturday of a "major strike" soon in the United States.
The statement, distributed by the Yemeni Tagamoo Party for Reforms, said: "A major strike, a big event will take place in America soon," reminiscent of the Sept. 11 attacks.

Did you get the links I posted on OBL caught? If you mean your post regarding the hunt for OBL, yes I did JP. But I noticed yesterday that very few American media outlets were running with that story, it was mostly foreign media carrying it, which made bells go off for me.
Now today there has been a lot of talk in the American media talking about the hammer and anvil combination operation being carried out by the US and the Pakistani militaries.
However on Bill O'Reilly tonight that was being debunked by Col. Hunt as a PR move. Hunt stated the only thing that we would need from Pakistan is there approval to enter their country. We would not use their military.
I am only trying to connect the dots. I do not know whether OBL is in US custody captured in Iran or still roaming around the mountains of Afganistan and Pakistan with kidney bag in one hand and an AK47 in the other.
Okay back to my R and R (read and research).

"Initial symptoms of Marburg virus hemorrhagic fever begin 3 to 9 days after infection."
Maybe not....if during the 3-9 day period, let's say they don't present symptoms until day 7. Day one they are infected, and maybe on day 4 they take a flight from point A to point B....actually too chilling to think about.
A few years ago I read the Ebola book "The Hot Zone", this book gave both documented cases on the spread of the disease and a hypothetical spread via air travel. Short synopsis...one infected individual spreads the disease to a percentage on a flight. When those travellers reach their varied destinations; they spread the disease to those people they come in contact with and it spreads expotentially from there. By the time they are infected and presenting symptoms it is too late.
Your posts show that you have been very busy...
I have just finished a design project, and I am much too tired to read more than the first few sentences of your new posts.....the big picture, especially when tired, is almost overwhelmingly frightening.

Two totally different situations. The internment of Americans of Japanese descent was wrong because it was was way too broad. Most of those people probably were hard working, law abiding citizens. Profiling is one thing, imprisoning a whole class of people based only on where they came from is horrible. But how many Japanese pulled off terrorist attacks in the US during WWII?
I don't see anyone calling for the internment of Arab Muslims in our country. You would be a fool, however, to ignore the basic fact that our enemies tend to have a common profile. Still, they don't always fit, like Ryan Anderson.

I don't often listen to C2C...but there is a guy on tonight who says he had a dream of the DC 10 crash in Chicago in 1979.
He says he was talking to the FAA before it happened and there is an Associated press article on his web site confirming it.
The lastest claim is that he has a vision of the comming destruction of the USA probably this year. Or something like that...He has not gotten to that yet. Links are on the C2C website. If anyone is interested to hear what he has to say.
I am not a big believer in this kind of thing although I admit the possiblity...I am skeptical.

BODY:
David Booth believes he foresaw the nation's worst air disaster in his dreams 10 nights before an American Airlines jet crashed near Chicago last Friday, killing 274 people. Federal Aviation Administration officials agree that the dreams, as Booth reported them to the FAA and to a psychiatrist at the University of Cincinnati, bear a remarkable resemblance to the actual crash. "It was uncanny. There were differences, but there were very many similarities," said Jack Barker, FAA regional public affairs officer. "The greatest similarity was calling the airline (by name) and the airplane ... and that it came in inverted." Booth, 23, an office manager for a car rental agency here, said it did not surprise him to learn last Friday that a DC-10 had crashed on takeoff at O'Hare International Airport. "There was never any doubt to me that something was going to happen," Booth said. "It wasn't like a dream. It was like I was standing there watching the whole thing -- like watching television. "When FAA officials heard of the crash, they recalled Booth's dreams, too.
Three days earlier, Booth had called the FAA office at the Greater Cincinnati Airport to tell them his story, and officials there referred him to regional headquarters in Atlanta. Everyone had listened patiently to his account of the dream, Booth said. He was grateful that no one laughed or said he was crazy. "He was sincere, that was my impression," said Ray Pinkerton, FAA assistant manager here. "There was a slight tremble in his voice. Of course I was concerned. But what can you say when somebody calls you like that? "In Booth's dreams, he sensed an airplane was in trouble because its engines did not sound right.
Then, as he looked across an open field, he saw an American Airlines plane with three engines bank to the right, turn over and crash to the ground in a ball of orange and red flames that then became obscured by gray smoke. The morning of the crash he was particularly fitful since "everything upset me," Booth said. The dreams have stopped, but the feeling of frustration continues, he said. "How can you make any sense out of something like that?" he asked. "There's no explanation for it. No meaning. No conclusion. It just doesn't make any sense."

Is there any news media that you can ask to print 'all' of the facts? Not when all of the facts includes the fact the a lot of crime comes from illegals! (Did that make sense???) :)

Piper, what do you think about starting the new thread now, so that we will have most of the day's news all in the same thread?

Leaked Pentagon report warns climate change may bring famine, war: report
Sun Feb 22, 5:17 PM ET
LONDON (AFP) - A secret report prepared by the Pentagon (news - web sites) warns that climate change may lead to global catastrophe costing millions of lives and is a far greater threat than terrorism.
The report was ordered by an influential US Pentagon advisor but was covered up by "US defense chiefs" for four months, until it was "obtained" by the British weekly The Observer.
The leak promises to draw angry attention to US environmental and military policies, following Washington's rejection of the Kyoto Protocol (news - web sites) on climate change and President George W. Bush (news - web sites)'s skepticism about global warning -- a stance that has stunned scientists worldwide.
The Pentagon report, commissioned by Andrew Marshall, predicts that "abrupt climate change could bring the planet to the edge of anarchy as countries develop a nuclear threat to defend and secure dwindling food, water and energy supplies," The Observer reported.
The report, quoted in the paper, concluded: "Disruption and conflict will be endemic features of life.... Once again, warfare would define human life."
Its authors -- Peter Schwartz, a CIA (news - web sites) consultant and former head of planning at Royal Dutch/Shell Group, and Doug Randall of Global Business Network based in California -- said climate change should be considered "immediately" as a top political and military issue.
It "should be elevated beyond a scientific debate to a US national security concern", they were quoted as saying.
Some examples given of probable scenarios in the dramatic report include:
-- Britain will have winters similar to those in current-day Siberia as European temperatures drop off radically by 2020.
-- by 2007 violent storms will make large parts of the Netherlands uninhabitable and lead to a breach in the acqueduct system in California that supplies all water to densely populated southern California
-- Europe and the United States become "virtual fortresses" trying to keep out millions of migrants whose homelands have been wiped out by rising sea levels or made unfarmable by drought.
-- "catastrophic" shortages of potable water and energy will lead to widespread war by 2020.
Randall, one of the authors, called his findings "depressing stuff" and warned that it might even be too late to prevent future disasters.
"We don't know exactly where we are in the process. It could start tomorrow and we would not know for another five years," he told the paper.
Experts familiar with the report told the newspaper that the threat to global stability "vastly eclipses that of terrorism".
Taking environmental pollution and climate change into account in political and military strategy is a new, complicated and necessary challenge for leaders, Randall said.
"It is a national security threat that is unique because there is no enemy to point your guns at and we have no control over the threat," he said.
Coming from the Pentagon, normally a bastion of conservative politics, the report is expected to bring environmental issues to the fore in the US presidential race.
Last week the Union of Concerned Scientists, an influential and non-partisan group that includes 20 Nobel laureates, accused the Bush administration of having deliberately distorted scientific fact to serve its policy agenda and having "misled the public".
Its 38-page report, which it said took over a year to prepare and was not time to coincide with the campaign season, details how Washington "systematically" skewed government scientific studies, suppressed others, stacked panels with political and unqualified appointees and often refused to seek independent expertise on issues.
Critics of the report quoted by the New York Times denied there was deliberate misrepresentation and called it politically motivated.
The person behind the leaked Pentagon report, Andrew Marsall, cannot be accused of the same partisan politicking.
Marsall, 82, has been an advisor for the defense department for decades, and was described by The Observer as the author of Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld's plans for a major transformation of the US military.

ISLAMABAD (Reuters) - Pakistani troops have launched a fresh offensive against al Qaeda and Taliban militants hiding in remote tribal areas near the Afghan border, officials say.
A day earlier, U.S. military officials said the whereabouts of al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden remained a mystery and the focus of hunts in border regions where many Islamic militants and Taliban remnants are believed to be hiding.
"We have launched an operation against foreign terrorists," Information Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed told Reuters on Tuesday.
Asked whether operation was intended to hunt bin Laden, he said only: "It is against foreign terrorists."

C.I.A. Was Given Data on Hijacker Long Before 9/11 By JAMES RISEN and ERIC LICHTBLAU WASHINGTON, Feb. 23 American investigators were given the first name and telephone number of one of the Sept. 11 hijackers two and a half years before the attacks on New York and Washington, but the United States appears to have failed to pursue the lead aggressively, American and German officials say.
The information the earliest known signal that the United States received about any of the hijackers has now become an important element of an independent commission's investigation into the events of Sept. 11, 2001, officials said Monday. It is considered particularly significant because it may have represented a missed opportunity for American officials to penetrate the Qaeda terror cell in Germany that was at the heart of the plot. And it came roughly 16 months before the hijacker showed up at flight schools in the United States.
