SANAA, Yemen, Jan. 24 (UPI) -- A purported statement by al-Qaida in Yemen warned Saturday of a "major strike" soon in the United States.

The statement, distributed by the Yemeni Tagamoo Party for Reforms, said: "A major strike, a big event will take place in America soon," reminiscent of the Sept. 11 attacks.

IMHO you are not the only one with a jerk boss like you had. It is my belief (based on discussions with many many people all over the country) lots of employers use the current depressed job market to treat employees disrespectfully and make demands that are at best unscroupulous and demeaning. They offer jobs at the lowest possible wage, strip benefits to barebones, if offered at all. What you went through is not singular - it is happening all over the country - and uncountable employers are getting away with it, blaming it on the economy.

Perhaps what you don't realize, the sentiment toward Canada has changed, for most of US. Some of US resent the living heck out of the way your Government has behaved during the war on terror, among other things.

While I don't relish the fact of losing a 'friend' on our Northern border, I have to be realistic about the quality of that friendship. Seems somewhat lacking.

Now, as to the idea of Canada enjoying the 'bombing of America,' I would like to point out, you ARE on our Northern border, and what happens to US, WILL affect YOU, in more ways than one.

What america doesn't realize is this arrogance is generating huge hatred for her around the world, even in your former best friend canada. Thats why my friends shelter probable terrorists and never give it a second thought. In fact they would be happy if they assisted in taking a chunk out of america.

People like you with your attitude is why I don't like Canada. Many canadians work in the US and could give a crap about it. You shelter terrorists to bomb us and think that's cool? Go to hell.

Hmmmmm. Frederick Maryland is supposed to be the "decontamination" area for DC survivors of a nuke. So are parts of Gettysburg.

Can anyone else listen to that caller without getting goose bumps and teary eyed?

I can't tell you how many times I've listened to it and still am affected as if I am hearing it for the first time.

Here's a recent article about AQ using women to smuggle bomb making equipment on board planes:

Press Trust of India

London, February 21: In their efforts to pursue terror tactics, al-Qaeda extremists may use women suicide bombers to smuggle explosives on board an aircraft.

A leading al-Qaeda organiser, held in custody, is understood to have told his captors that a woman was thought more likely to evade airport security. According to a report in The Times on Saturday, he suggested that a woman has already been selected for the attack, which could involve a British aircraft.

A British security source told the daily: "the terrorists know there are sensitivities about making intimate body searches of women, particularly Muslim women, and thus you can see why some groups might be planning to use a female suicide bomber. Hiding explosives in an intimate part of the body means even less chance of detection.”

The report said a woman could hide up to 12 pounds of plastic explosive inside her body. The detonator and other components, which can easily be hidden in a watch, mobile telephone or electrical device, could be taken aboard by an accomplice or in hand luggage.

According to the report, the explosive device would be assembled in mid-air in an aircraft lavatory.

Quoting experts, the report said 12 pounds of explosive would blow a hole in the fuselage. The prospect of a so-called “she-bomber” was investigated by British officials in the run-up to Christmas when a number of flights to America and the Gulf were cancelled.

Electronic eavesdropping has hinted that the next attack could involve what the authorities call an Improvised Explosive Device (IED). An FBI bulletin circulated last November said, “Components of an IED can be smuggled onto an aircraft concealed in either clothing or personal carry-on items.”

The al-Qaeda detainee is understood to have claimed that terrorists have carried out "dry runs" to see if they can get the components on to a flight.

A spokesman for the us department of homeland security said the fear has led to airport security screeners being ordered to scrutinise closely women in loose clothing.

There has been a marked increase in women being used by Islamic extremists. Women have staged four suicide attacks in Russia in the past eight months. In Israel, there have been seven attacks by women suicide bombers.

Just a thought- could the number 223 refer to date rather than to a particular flight?

Whatever happened to the entrepreneurial spirit of our past?

Spirit is still there, but it takes more money to make money [start your own biz]...and more money to live...than it did then. After all, a cook in a diner used to be able to support a family. Now it takes both parents and the kids and the dog working to maintain the same standard of living [modest home, etc] as it did in the 40's,50's/early 60's.

Not only that, but the independent business [grocers and many small restaurant/diners for example] have been driven out of business by the mega corps/chains.

Corporate America knows what it's doing. It devours anything in its path. So it's not quite as simple as "what happened to the entrepreneurial spirit of the past."

Good points. But that can't be an excuse to give up. Those are points where creativity needs to step in.

There is imminent news concerning the cpature of osama bin Laden

The Sunday Telegraph (UK) will run an article datlined tomorrow. One day following the end of 1424 A.H.

The article is up on the web now. It is virtually identical (except for the location of the capture) to what I reported in this thread one month ago.

It is being billed as a US SOF "snatch and go" operation.
It is being put into print PRIOR to its execution by US SOF.

My posts here are essentially NEIN updates on FreeRepublic threads. My original post on this subject was not a report like this one, my report was of the "Mission Complete" status.

THERE IS A HUGE DIFFERENCE.

Anyway, here is the Sunday telegraph article for 22 February 2004.

Bin Laden 'surrounded'

February 22, 2004
A BRITISH Sunday newspaper is claiming Osama bin Laden has been found and is surrounded by US special forces in an area of land bordering north-west Pakistan and Afghanistan.

The Sunday Express, known for its sometimes colourful scoops, claims the al-Qaeda leader has been "sighted" for the first time since 2001 and is being monitored by satellite.

The paper claims he is in a mountainous area to the north of the Pakistani city of Quetta. The region is said to be peopled with bin Laden supporters and the terrorist leader is estimated to also have 50 of his fanatical bodyguards with him.

The claim is attributed to "a well-placed intelligence source" in Washington, who is quoted as saying: "He (bin Laden) is boxed in."

The paper says the hostile terrain makes an all-out conventional military assault impossible. The plan to capture him would depend on a "grab-him-and-go" style operation.

"US helicopters already sited on the Afghanistan border will swoop in to extricate him," the newspaper says. It claims bin Laden and his men "sleep in caves or out in the open. The area is swept by fierce snow storms howling down from the 10,000ft-high mountain peaks. Donkeys are the only transport."

The special forces are "absolutely confident" there is no escape for bin Laden, and are awaiting the order to go in and get him.

"The timing of that order will ultimately depend on President Bush," the paper says. "Capturing bin Laden will certainly be a huge help for him as he gets ready for the election."

The article says bin Laden's movements are monitored by a National Security Agency satellite.

On Thursday last week, General Richard Myers, chairman of the US joint chiefs of staff, said America had been engaged in "intense" efforts to capture bin Laden, who was believed to be hiding in the border area between Pakistan and Afghanistan.

But he insisted that the focus of the search had not narrowed for months.

and as for canadian federal security. In western canada we have two RCMP officers assigned to handle all terror related leads.

I'm interested in your source for that. Also, I was under the impression CSIS handled muslim terror issues?

For 12 years, the former dictator of Iraq defied the international community. He refused to disarm, or account for his illegal weapons and programs. My administration looked at the intelligence information and we saw a threat. Members of Congress looked at the intelligence and they saw a threat. The United Nations Security Council looked at the intelligence and it saw a threat.

The fuse has been lit. Kerry: you will lose your hypocritical commie a** in November.
