Being I do not want this to be assumed as a vanity thread I am posting a legitimate article that was recently brought to my attention.

This article has upset me greatly. When the Freedom Bus Ride was ongoing, we had an ongoing thread posted by EternalWarming. On this thread I posted an after Freep report my daughter and I attended in Chicago. On this thread someone also posted an inflammatory picture which was removed but we tastelessly laughed at it.

We had someone, that obviously was a DU and threatened us but singled myself out, with reporting it to Southern Poverty Law Center that I in fact was a hate monger. As many poster's this person was a hit/miss. I attended this Freep back in June. And this article has a few paragraphs about me, one of which is exactly what I posted. The second, is apparently doctored and quite contrary to my post. I cleared this in order to be able to post it.

Today begins an ongoing thread to add your links, important news,legislative happenings etc. all regarding the protection of our borders. There are now so many articles and news stories that it is good to have one place to view it all.

I will start off this thread with saying I believe we all need to contact our state representatives and those is our party who need to know this is not a one-horse issue that will go away.I have stated that all it takes is one issue to start a domino effect and the entire administration could fall apart. None of us wants that to happen. We also need to contact the media and make sure the democratic spin on this is not for political advantage. This issue is closely correlated with the War On Terror for terrorist's are using our open border's against us the same way they used commercial flights to attack us on 911.

Anti-immigration activists confront a pro-migrant freedom ride — joined by some of America's leading neo-Nazi groups

Exerpted:

On the sparkling afternoon of Oct. 3, 18 buses carrying more than 900 Immigrant Workers Freedom Riders rolled into New Jersey's Liberty State Park. The riders, many of them illegal immigrant workers from Central America, had boarded the buses nearly two weeks before in 10 different U.S. cities.

Inspired by the 1961 Freedom Rides for black civil rights, they'd made more than 100 stops in small towns and big cities to promote their reform agenda: greater workplace protections, reunification of immigrant families, and a "road to citizenship" for America's estimated 8 to 10 million undocumented workers.

Some of the protests had been lonely, with one or two anti-immigration activists holding signs with slogans like "Being Illegal Is Not a Civil Right." But at upwards of a dozen Freedom Ride stops, the anti-immigration activists had been joined by members of the nation's largest white-supremacist hate groups — all of whom had come together for today's demonstration.

Their arguments often sounded similar. Like Turner and many hate-group leaders, the powerful Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) and Center for Immigration Studies (CIS) called for federal officials to arrest the undocumented Freedom Riders.

"Any event that advertises the participation of illegal aliens ought to be raided, and the illegal aliens deported," Mark Krikorian of CIS told the Miami Herald.

At a Chicago rally, where members of the white-supremacist Council of Conservative Citizens and the neo-Nazi White Revolution appeared along with members of mainstream anti-immigration groups, protesters held signs saying, "No more free rides. No more welfare. No more stolen jobs."

This is where I need to interject ...The first highlighted paragraph 'is' in fact what I posted in my after Freep report

For many of the anti-immigration protesters, rallying side-by-side with neo-Nazis and Klansmen was too close for comfort. "Turns out we were smack in the middle of a damn white supremacist group!" an anti-immigration activist calling erself "JustPiper" complained on an Internet chat site after the Chicago counter-demonstration.

This is obviosuly what the DU troll rewrote from the rest of my report for me and sent it to SPLC

But what really got under JustPiper's skin seemed to be the Freedom Riders, not the neo-Nazis from White Revolution. "[T]hese banditos kept screaming obscenities and threats at us," she claimed. "Lemme tellya, they were just coming with signs like cockroaches!"

I've posted thousands of replies and articles here and never have I said something so idiotic or silly like this. I have made a derogatory remark about illegals offhanded saying they were reproducing like some creature. And yes I posted they were yelling threats and obsecenities at my daughter and I. But we stayed silent holding our poster's in front of us. Also we left the group when a federal agent (This was in front of the Federal Building)told us we were standing by white supremacist's which means now both side's were scaring us and we went to stand with some police officer's who knew our dual plight. So people firsthand I am feeling the sting and I will not back down from the illegal immigrant issue!

Among Latinos, the Achilles heel in President Bush's new immigration proposal is its requirement that temporary workers return to their home countries when their permits expire, according to a national poll released Thursday.

The first survey of Latino reactions to Bush's proposal to issue temporary worker permits found 42 percent in support and 20 percent opposed. The rest either had no opinion or were unaware of it.

Opposition to the plan more than doubled when respondents were told that most temporary workers would have to return to their home countries at the end of three or six years.

Administration on Illegal Alien Giveaway

American Workers in Every Sector of the Economy Will Watch Their Jobs Go to Foreign Workers, Says FAIR

(Washington, DC – January 29, 2004) “The immigration proposal touted by the Democrats yesterday is an outright assault on fundamental fairness, the rule of law, and on all working Americans, advocating a blanket amnesty for every illegal alien in the country,” says the Federation for American Immigration Reform. FAIR accused some of the Democrats in Congress of “playing one upmanship” with the Bush immigration proposal and turning their backs on the 9 million unemployed Americans currently seeking jobs and legal immigrants whose admission will be delayed while millions of illegal aliens are granted amnesty.

“It’s amazing that the party which portrays itself as the friend of working Americans is in a foot race with the Bush Administration to give foreign workers unimpeded access to every job in every sector of our economy,” commented Dan Stein, FAIR’s Executive Director. Stein noted that the Democrats’ plan not only takes the cap off of the admission of foreign guestworkers, it allows them to remain in the U.S. permanently and bring in their distant relatives while offering a clear path to citizenship.

Stein pointed out that the Bush Administration plan and the Democrats’ alternative drives home the fact that both plans “are completely out of touch with the demands of the American public, which has been demanding much less, not more immigration, for more than 3 decades.”

Both plans are being championed as ways to deal with chronic illegal immigration and the national security problems that arise from having millions of people in the country who have never had criminal or terrorist background checks. Stein urged both parties to commit to enforcing current immigration laws and resist pressures from special interest groups and big business to open the country to limitless immigration. Instead, Stein urged Congress to pass the SAFER ACT, sponsored by Gresham Barrett (R-SC), which would:

Secure the border against illegal immigration and terrorism by beefing up the border patrol and cracking down on alien smuggling;

Enhance interior enforcement of our immigration laws;

Better screen aliens seeking admission to the U.S.

Expedite procedures for the removal of terrorists and criminal aliens from the U.S.;

Streamline the immigration process by suspending further renewal of temporary protected status and suspend approval of adjustment of status applications for certain immigrants;

End chain migration by eliminating the extended family visa categories;

“The laws have been on the books for decades to stop illegal immigration in its tracks. What has been lacking is the leadership, determination and courage of our elected officials to place the security of the country and the economic viability of the American family, ahead of party politics and shameless pandering,” said Stein.

As I interpret this memo on immigration policy:

1) The law requires Border Patrol agents to operate within the United States, not just at the border

2) A "long-standing policy" prevented the Border Patrol from operating in the interior of the United States

3) A memo about the "policy" was leaked

4) The policy has been rescinded, so Border Patrol agents may again do their job of apprehending illegal aliens within the interior of the United States.

Chief Patrol Agent William Veal of the Border Patrol garnered Nationwide Media attention last week when an internal memo dated August 8th was "leaked" to local media outlets. The memo stipulated that "long-standing agency policy" prevented Border Patrol agents from conducting " 'area control' operations in residential neighborhoods". Furthermore that the "operational priorities for the San Diego Sector are geared toward maximum containment at the border, to prevent illegal entry of aliens, terrorists, and terrorist weapons" and that "interior enforcement and worksite enforcement are now within the exclusive jurisdiction of the Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement".

However, this policy is in conflict with section 287 of the Immigration and Nationality Act - Powers of immigration officers and employees, which has been reproduced below:

Sec. 287. [8 U.S.C. 1357]
(a) Any officer or employee of the Service authorized under regulations prescribed by the Attorney General shall have power {{{without warrant- }}}

(1) (((to interrogate any alien or person believed to be an alien as to his right to be or to remain in the United States;}}}

(2) to arrest any alien who in his presence or view is entering or attempting to enter the United States in violation of any law or regulation made in pursuance of law regulating the admission, exclusion, expulsion, or removal of aliens, or to arrest any alien in the United States, if he has reason to believe that the alien so arrested is in the United States in violation of any such law or regulation and is likely to escape before a warrant can be obtained for his arrest, but the alien arrested shall be taken without unnecessary delay for examination before an officer of the Service having authority to examine aliens as to their right to enter or remain in the United States;

(3) {{{within a reasonable distance (defined as 100 air miles) from any external boundary of the United States, to board and search for aliens any vessel within the territorial waters of the United States and any railway car, aircraft, conveyance, or vehicle, and within a distance of twenty-five miles from any such external boundary to have access to private lands, but not dwellings for the purpose of patrolling the border to prevent the illegal entry of aliens into the United States;}}}

(4) to make arrests for felonies which have been committed and which are cognizable under any law of the United States regulating the admission, exclusion, expulsion, or removal of aliens, if he has reason to believe that the person so arrested is guilty of such felony and if there is likelihood of the person escaping before a warrant can be obtained for his arrest, but the person arrested shall be taken without unnecessary delay before the nearest available officer empowered to commit persons charged with offenses against the laws of the United States; and

(5) to make arrests-

Which is perhaps why in an interesting twist this "long-standing agency policy" was quickly rescinded by Robert Bonner, Commissioner of the U.S. Bureau of Customs and Border Protection, just days after the August 8th memo made nationwide headlines. Bureau spokeswoman Gloria Chavez said that the rescinded policy was a legacy of the old Immigration and Naturalization Service, which no longer exists as its duties have been folded into the Department of Homeland Security.

Wow, very interesting story. I can see that some Freepers are quick to dismiss it as fiction. I don't know the author's agenda, but it seems plausible to me.

Thanks for the ping. If I had the resources, and didn't have two kids in college, I'd devote myself full time to this fight. It really is that important for our country's security, sovereignty, way of life and future. Indeed, I think the case could be made that there is no issue more important at present than the immigration crisis, since it is useless to even try to strive for victory in the War on Terror if we refuse to get firm control over our borders and ports of entry and the entrants into our country.

WASHINGTON -- Working from "instinct," a border agent at Orlando International Airport 2 1/2 years ago refused entry to a young Saudi man who the U.S. government now suspects was planning to rendezvous with the ringleader of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.

Agent Jose E. Melendez-Perez, testifying Monday before an independent national commission investigating the al-Qaida attacks, said the Saudi man he interrogated on Aug. 4, 2001, gave him "a bone chilling cold effect." Melendez-Perez told supervisors that the Saudi man refused to answer questions under oath, did not have a return ticket or have plans for his stay.
