Well, I will apologize for being pithy when I get an admission from someone, anyone, that there is some nutty stuff posted here, and that virtually every dire prediction has been wrong. What you say is being pithy is taken by most people as being condescending. I don't know if you are intentionally trying to be antagonistic, but you certainly come off that way.
There are some pretty wild theories being thrown around, but in almost every case those who agree and those who disagree can treat each other with respect. Jumping in when you haven't previously been involved in the discussion, then start slinging around "pithy" comments is rude.
Now, I know that eventually something bad will happen. These AQ folks really hate us. But, I am sure everyone will be here to say, "I told you so." That would be like the Bears who predicted every year from 1994 that "a bear market was coming." Well, of course it was coming. It always comes.
So by that logic, should we just quit looking at the threats? Why bother, we're screwed anyway, right? Some people like to have a little more control over their flow of news than to be fed watered down pablum that comes from the mainstream news outlets. Of course, that means that you have to use your BS filter, no one will deny that. But in my experience with the media, they aren't exactly the paragons of truth either. We choose to look outside the normal channels for news, and that bothers some people.
The AQ stuff is one thing, but this whole Russian conspiracy thing is so bizarre, it not only discredits the thread, but it discredits the site. It's nutty.
How is it any nuttier than the AQ threats? What special knowledge do you have to prove that? As for discrediting FR, that's your opinion. I personally think that the way some of the fanatical "support Bush at all costs" freepers are worse, but that's just my opinion.
Here is trial work 101. Put a man on the stand and discredit his credibility on ANYTHING, and the jury will believe him on nothing.
This isn't a courtroom! What's the saying? Everything looks like a nail to a man with a hammer. Not the best analogy, but I think it makes the point. None of us are on the stand, this is a collaborative effort to find obscure news and find new connections between the data points that have not been discovered. Sometimes, we make mistakes...that's part of life. Most of us have the intellectual honesty to admit that. I will concede that there are a few people who tend to post information that is unsubstantiated as the gospel truth, but that is the exception here, not the rule.
I take it from all of your court and legal references that you are an attorney. Is that correct?
Like I said, piecing together Islamic web posts is one thing. Looking for clues and connections to stories and events, that's fine. (Though I have posted that we would all be doing a better job merely keeping our eyes open for oddities in our own neighborhoods). But some of this old communist stuff. Get real.
Some of us think that communism never died, it just went underground. You think communism is dead and gone. That's fine, but answer me this. Since you are on FR, I take it that you can be generally described as a conservative? If so, what do you think about communist goals from 1963 that were posted? Have most of those come to pass? What about the fact that groups like International ANSWER and moveon.org are backed by open communists? How can you say that communism does not have a huge influence in the US today?
If we want to really help homeland security, let's be vigilant where we live. No one knows his or her own neighborhood better than us. That's where we are useful.
Like I said, I don't think I'm helping Homeland Security by posting to this thread. I'm sure the feds know at least 100 times as much info as we do, so I'm under no illusion that I'm trying to help them. I would say that a lot of others that post here feel the same way. I'm here for the protection of myself and my family. Any heads up that I can get on future terrorist actions may give me a slight edge if something bad does go down.

The Fulton facility is located within the city limits of Atlanta.
I believe your counting it as two seperate incidents, when it's not.
Sorry for the confusion.

Don't worry about it. I stay confused. I'll make the correction. Thanks!

"I personally think that the way some of the fanatical "support Bush at all costs" freepers are worse, but that's just my opinion. "
===
Well, there is a reason for that.
Al Qaida Will Be Voting Democrat in November
The terrorists want Bush out of office, as President Bush stands in the way of their evil ambitions. As the President said, you are either with us, or you are with the terrorists. Any Conservative who sits home on Election Day, or votes against the President, is voting with the terrorists.
Alan Keyes comes out in support of President Bush, denounces Democrats, "our survival is at stake!"
KEYES: But I also wouldn't want to give the impression that I think that anything can be more decisive for the American people right now than the question of our national survival in the face of the most insidious threat this nation has ever faced.
In the face of that, I think a lot of us are going to be putting our other issues behind those issues that have to do with the survival of this nation in wartime.

In case anyone has any doubts as to the ethics of our enemy, perhaps you should read this article from an Egyptian government newspaper, as translated by MEMRI:
http://www.memri.org/bin/latestnews.cgi?ID=SD65804 Egyptian Government Daily: Suicide Bombings are Legitimate Even if Children Are Killed
An editorial in the Egyptian government daily Al-Masaa praised suicide/martyrdom operations, and called on Palestinian organizations to not publish the names of the bombers so that their families' houses would not be demolished. The article focuses primarily on female suicide bombers, following the debate in the Arab media over Hamas's dispatching of Reem Al-Riyashi, a mother of two, to carry out the January 14, 2004 bombing in Gaza. The following is the translation of the editorial : [1]
"We ask again, why do the various Palestinian organizations insist on publishing the name of everyone who carries out a martyrdom operation against the Zionist entity?
"We have no argument regarding the question of the legitimacy of these operations, because they are considered a powerful weapon used by the Palestinians against an enemy with no morality or religion, [an enemy] who has deadly weapons prohibited by international law, that is not deterred from using them against the defenseless Palestinian people.
"Even if during [a martyrdom operation] civilians or children are killed the blame does not fall upon the Palestinians, but on those who forced them to turn to this modus operandi.
"Ultimately, we should bless every Palestinian man or woman who goes calmly to carry out a martyrdom operation, in order to receive a reward in the Hereafter, sacrificing her life for her religion and her homeland and knowing that she will never return from this operation.
"But at the same time, we wonder about the reason for publishing the names of those who carry out the [martyrdom] operations; [this publishing] is a valuable gift that the Palestinian resistance gives the Zionist entity, since as soon as it receives this gift, the armies of the [Zionist] entity hasten to the home of the martyr's family, wounded by the loss of its son, in order to multiply its pain by destroying its home. Moreover, the home of the martyr's family is always destroyed negligently, causing serious damage to or the collapse of the neighbor's home.
"We ask the leaders of these organizations: Give us one good reason for publishing the names of the martyrs whom, it can be assumed, martyred themselves for the religion, the homeland, and the people, and not for any other reason. The Lebanese resistance published [the names of] those who took this path during the years of the Zionist occupation [in Lebanon] without any logical justification. We were surprised that the Palestinian resistance is employing the same method, also without any justification. "This is even though the situation is different, as the Shahids in the case of Lebanon, such as Sanaa Muheidali and other women, lived in territories not under the control of the Zionist occupation, while in the Palestinian case, [they live under Zionist occupation]."

So does anyone in the federal government even consider this Russian angle as a possibility ? Are they doing anything at all to be prepared for such a possibility. Noing how many members of the socialist party are in the senate and elsewhere...It would not surprise me if some of them were actually in on this deception. What do you think ?

Fine. Don't publish the name of the "martyr". New policy: level 1 square block of Palestinian owned property in exchange for each person killed by a "martyrdom". That should put a little community pressure on the perpetrators...especially if they escape being part of the most recent leveling exercise.

How does the President's "immigrant worker" plan help secure us from terrorists?
