Al Qaeda again threatens New York, Washington and Los Angeles
If they are going to annihilate us, who then will they be chatting with?
Also did a quick search at it's happening. Mubarak and his son are both disliked. There were quite a few messages translated, but just one of the difficulties in searching is that the spellings used are not always 100 percent. The messages below -- all translated by the very intelligent and dedicated casey at It's Happening -- are somewhat indicative of the jihad angst against mubarak and others. mubarak seemed to attract even more hatred around the time he tried to work with us to get saddam to do the right thing. There were other, stronger posts, but they are on IH somewhere and require more time to weed through. Some parts of the board were lost in the late summer as well.
Here are some brief snippets of what I found in a real quick search:
___________________________________________________________The time is now a prepared if the Islamic groups carry the weapon once again
To each organizer
To all who carried the weapon a previous
To all who yearns for the weapon carrying
To each Moslem jealous on his religion and his land and his honor

These are our enemies and the time a suitable and the Islamic Nation is angry she boils then they invested this precious chance and these terrible times
And carry your weapons that overlooked her then the money of your enemies on you his inclination is one

Somali immigrant is in high-security case
January 31, 2004

Federal authorities are detaining a Somali immigrant who is suspected of plotting to carry out a terrorist attack during the recent holiday season, officials confirmed this week.
The man appeared Wednesday at a closed hearing marked by extraordinary security in Detroit's federal immigration court.
He was arrested in early December at his home in Columbus, Ohio, and was a factor in the government's decision to raise the national alert level to orange, or high, that month, said the officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity because they are barred from discussing cases involving high national security issues.
The officials would not describe what kind of plot they suspect.
The man, a U.S. resident for six years, is being held for alleged immigration violations and has not been charged with a crime or any act of terrorism, said his lawyer, Douglas Weigle. The Free Press generally does not identify suspects unless charges are filed.
Weigle, who is based in Cincinnati, said the government's suspicions are farfetched. He said his client owns a small cell-phone business and is married with two children, ages 9 months and 2 years.
Weigle declined to discuss the terror allegations, but said his client is a victim of the times.
"I don't think his case would be handled this way prior to 9/11," Weigle said, referring to the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.
The man appeared in Detroit for a deportation hearing to answer government claims that he has overstayed his visa. He is being held at an undisclosed location and is appealing for asylum because he fears torture and death in war-torn Somalia, Weigle said.
The court in Detroit often hears Ohio immigration cases.
Jorge Martinez, a U.S. Justice Department spokesman, and Greg Gagne, a spokesman for the federal Executive Office of Immigration Review, said the case has been classified as a special interest matter, meaning federal officials are investigating possible terrorism links. Both refused to comment further on the case.
The man's appearance in Detroit prompted federal officials to turn the small immigration court -- squeezed onto the fourth floor of the Crain Communication Building in Brewery Park -- into a high-security zone, according to lawyers who were there for different cases.
Detroit police accompanied federal agents escorting the detainee to his appearance before immigration Judge Elizabeth Hacker. Bomb-sniffing dogs and extra guards were brought in to augment the court's usual security measures, a metal detector and a lone security guard.
"Federal agents were there in force," said George Saba, an accredited immigration representative who was there for another case.
The building's management company, Kirco Management Services, was alerted to the appearance in advance and was instructed to take extra precautions, a Kirco employee said.
About 700 people work in the building, including employees for a Navy recruiting office, OmniCare Health Plan and the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Crain, which co-owns the building and is headquartered there, produces business and automotive publications.
Federal officials said they had hoped to keep the case quiet.
The Bush administration began applying the special interest designation to cases with suspected terrorism links after the Sept. 11 attacks. The designation has allowed authorities to detain hundreds of people on immigration violations while investigating possible terrorist connections. Most immigrants have been deported without facing terrorism charges.
Martinez said the decision to close a hearing for national security reasons is made by the nation's chief immigration judge, Michael Creppy. An immigrant can also request a closed hearing.
Last year, the Free Press sued U.S. Attorney General John Ashcroft to open the closed deportation hearing of Rabih Haddad, an Ann Arbor man investigated for possible terrorist fund-raising. The U.S. 6th Circuit Court of Appeals in Cincinnati ruled that the hearing should be open. Haddad was deported to Lebanon last year.
Family members for the Ohio man could not be reached for comment.
His arrest shocked the tight-knit Somali community in Columbus. Hassan Omar, a family friend and president of the Somali Community Association of Ohio, said the family told him that local police and agents from Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the FBI made the arrest.
About 30,000 Somalis live in Columbus. They began fleeing to the United States in the late 1990s during a civil war. In the last year, Somalis in Minnesota have been investigated for suspected efforts to raise money for the Al Qaeda terrorist network.
