He routinely stirred up riots and lynch mobs, throwing firebombs and rocks at soldiers and pelting Jewish worshippers at the Western Wall. He even beat an Israeli soldier, with the intent to kill, but the soldier escaped at the last second.

“What the West does not understand about Islam,” Shoebat said on Tovia Singer’s radio broadcast, “is that Jihad has stages. If Muslims have the upper hand then Jihad is waged by force. If Muslim’s don’t have the upper hand then Jihad is waged through financial and political means. Since Muslims do not have the upper hand in America or Europe, they talk about peace while supporting Hamas and Hezballah. The whole idea of Islam being a peaceful religion emanates from that silent stage of Jihad."

The Imam (Islamic cleric) of Orange County, California, a guest on Singer’s radio show as well, took issue with Shoebat’s claims, saying that ‘Jihad’ represents an inner struggle and not the genocidal slaughter of infidels called for by Osama bin Ladin. Shoebat unblinkingly refuted the cleric’c claims, reciting verse after verse of Koranic scripture in its original Arabic and translating into English. “There are over one hundred quotes by Mohammad regarding Jihad – I could recite each one of them but we would be here all day. Every single one refers specifically to Jihad by the sword, by killing, by taking no prisoners – with only one quote referring to an internal struggle – called for by Mohammad after the complete conquest and occupation of Arabia.” He said that such claims were typical of the Islamic leadership in America, and are consumed eagerly by western audiences who do not want to believe that one of the major world religions poses such a danger to humanity.

Asked whether he believes that Musims in America truly adhere to the program of Jihad he described, Shoebat qualified his statements saying, “Afghans in the U.S. and Iranians who left Iran are predominately peaceful people. The Arabic speaking communities in America, however, do indeed support Osama bin Ladin and Hamas.” He cites a direct correlation between adherence to Islam and support of terrorism. “The less they know about Islam the more peaceful they are,” he said.

The lesson in this story needs to be learned by this nations leadership.

We need to understand that this kind of a mentality would not hesitate to detonate a nuclear device or worse in an American city. To hope beyond hope that Midaat Mursi and others like him will have a change of heart like Walid Shoebat did in Jerusalem is not the answer.

YOU DO NOT MAKE DEALS OR POLITICAL ARRANGEMENTS WITH THESE FANATICS.

I hope the US national leadership also understands the concept of "The Peace of Saladin". If not, then we're dead meat.

Good post Sean.

I really wonder if the disconnected, whiny, upper echelon pansy leaders we have in some elected and appointed offices can understand the English alphabet, much less a threat such as this. Most are too pre-occupied to lip service in the war on terror, and little offer a substantial contribution.

I've been in a government position most of my life, and I have never been more disgusted with leadership than I have in the last few years. Arrogance, turf protection, money squabbles, lots of theory and little implementation. People "in the know" are marginalized while idiots rule supreme.

We need to shake out about 6 layers of management and promote some of the less admired but more capable people in the netherworld to get some real results. We also have to take chances, make mistakes, and recover from them. There is no other solution, and it will be painful.

IMHO I believe some of the Cold Warriors in various government agencies could show the new generation a thing or two about how to fight this type of war.

Maritime security has been a back-burner thing with DHS since the kickoff. The main thing was to get the airports secure once again.

Think of it this way: How many business commuters travel by container ship? Or by river barge and tug? The vast volume of human passengers travel by commercial air, and with the assets in place post-9/11, that was the high-payoff action to take.

Now that the commercial skies are more secure (not a 100% solution, but deterrence goes a long way), more assets can be tasked, and greater emphasis paid, to maritime security. Assets in place will be augmented first, therefore, before new things get tried.

UPSHOT: Now we're getting more rumblings about the ports and the ships. It's because there's more notice. And the enemy watches the increase in activity, too. They're seeing greater awareness and vigilance, so some targets might get bypassed as being too solid to take.

It's a massive chess-game, Folks. And we have a few Grand Masters on our side, too.
