[history]
President George W. Bush blew it Tuesday night. He delivered a State of the Union address that downplayed his most promising - and potentially revolutionary - domestic-policy initiatives. Earlier drafts had reportedly contained a lengthy exposition of his vision of an "ownership society," expanded and strengthened by tax changes and Social Security reform.

I just get so sick and tired of the very people that love liberty tearing apart the very idea because it's not happening fast enough. Sure, I like fast as well as the next guy, but I am a conservative, and a scientist. It takes time, and patience. In the mean time we must realize that we have the helm of the republic and we can guide our freedoms. The left has made a huge attack on the Constitution and, in many ways, they have won. Now it is our DUTY to take back those lost liberties and those lost rights.
If those of us that are the hallmark of conservatism falter and break into useless fragments then we show the great majority of this country that we had no conviction to begin with. That's not going to work. We need to stand together, and deliver. We have plenty of time to straighted things out, and we will.

Well, that's a separate argument.
The point I'm arguing is that I just get tired of seeing the posts that say if the dems win this election, the Republic, our liberty and the country are gone for good.
No single party has held the presidency continuously since the country began, and no single party will hold the presidency continuously for the remaining history of this nation. As long as dems are one of the two parties, they'll hold the Whitehouse again someday.
Anyone who believes that losing to dims would cause these things to come to pass, believes that it is inevitable that we are going to lose our liberty, our Republic, and become a marxist nation, since the dims are gonna win someday in the future.
Or am I wrong?

finally. But you do blame the US, since it provoked the religion of peaceYou are really into the blame game stuff big time, aren't you? You running out of people to hate today? If you want to take a more adult stance, I'd suggest trying using "reponsibility" for ones actions. Given our history of meddling in ME affairs, I'd say that a 9/11 type event was almost unavoidable. No blame, just the way it is.

Given our history of meddling in ME affairs, Oh baloney. If that is the rationale used then European "meddling" has been FAR more prevalent in the ME than US involvement. The US never colonized the ME.
To: Hoverbug
I haven't said that.I do point out that allowing a dem to win will not advance conservative policy.
I want Bush as CIC .I believe he is better than any dem would be.
I want him appointing judges.I know we'll get some better judges..
I am not terribly concerned about blue cards. No one will touch it this year.In the meantime I hope for better plans, enforcement, rules, local enforcement, cooperation with feds.

The parallel between our borders and terrorism is the most frightening aspect of the WOT. Our border agents hands are tied, our borders 'invite' them to cross over untouched, the scary stories reaching the news now in Texas, coming 'from' Mexico has anyone wonder why Bush wants to encourage it even more. The threads recently on the Illegals opinions of what Bush's plan means to them, is negative testimony to the GW bill itself. So to me, being on this side I do not phantom how anyone can support his bill.

The Iranians will never forgive nor forget our involvement in the overthrow of their democratic government and the installation of the US puppet dictatorship of the Shaw. The Iranians learned first hand that the US is not to be trusted. Without the Shaw, Islamic fundamentalism wouldn't have gained near the momentum and political power without the motivation that we handed them. At the time, protecting British oil interests probably sounded like a good idea, but you just never know where it will lead.

Oh come now! If you have read my words you would find that the good of this Republic is far above my well being. Read my points! WE need to take this thing back for the generations to come. I have grandchildren, I never planned on that but I have them anyway, my son is a randy little bastard and he married a beautiful woman, thus I have grandchildren. It would be easier to give up if I didn't have grandchildren, but I can't....I got 'em, like it or not...and I like it. I'm not doing this for me I'm doing this for those beautiful children, and my son, and my daughter (in-law), and for everything good and right. I'm 56, sooner or later I'm going to fall flat on my face and die. I want to leave something behind me that means a preservation of liberty for everyone. That would be a little girl and a little boy, my grandbabbies. I'm going to see to that!
My grandfather was infantry in WWI, my daddy was 101 Airborne in WWII, I was 101 Ranger Vietnam, my son was 101 Airborne in Gulf I, my grandson will NOT fight a war, we have given enough, but then he'll have to make that decision because there will always be another war to keep our liberty, and men will serve, and men will die. It's a never ending drama. Freedom will always need to be defended, and there will always be those to defend it.

Secretly he has wanted amnesty all along, his words bely that, but even his actions 'after' his words contradict his meaning:
"I oppose amnesty, placing undocumented workers on the automatic path to citizenship. Granting amnesty encourages violation of our laws and perpetuates illegal immigration."
-President George W. Bush
"This plan is not amnesty," the president said of his plan to match workers with jobs. "I oppose amnesty because it encourages violation of our laws."-President Bush 1/12/04
In his book (1999), GWB wrote, "the most compassionate way to deal with illegals is to stop them at the border."

Governor [Bush] opposes brother's plan for illegal immigrants

Challenging a sweeping new proposal from his presidential brother, Gov. Jeb Bush said yesterday a White House plan to allow some illegal aliens to apply for legal status would be useless without reforms of federal immigration policy.
The governor said President Bush's proposal would treat the symptoms of problems with national immigration policy without addressing the actual causes.
"If I do give my brother's administration advice, I would urge them to include the reform of [the Immigration and Naturalization Service]," Bush said yesterday in an interview with the Times-Union. "They ought to look at this all together -- should it be done at all before we've made these reforms?"
The president's plan, based on a preliminary report released last week by a task force led by Secretary of State Colin Powell and Attorney General John Ashcroft, was originally discussed solely for America's 3 million illegal Mexican immigrants. Two days ago, Bush said it might also include non-Mexican aliens -- a position the Florida governor strongly encouraged.
"We'll consider all folks here," the president said Thursday.

The parallel between our borders and terrorism is the most frightening aspect of the WOT You're right, JP, and millions of illegal aliens from (how many) countries have successfully crossed the borders since the terrorism of 9/11, millions. There's no excuse for this. I can't think of any reason for it other than political pandering and the globalization agenda, neither of which America needs or wants.

I haven't said that I never said you did, and the rest of your post leads away from the point I was making in my post.
So, are you saying that you disagree with the concept that if George Bush loses this election, the Republic is gone, our liberty is gone, and Marxism will be installed?

PRESIDENTIAL HOPEFUL GEORGE W. BUSH RUNS INTO PROBLEMS ON IMMIGRATION ISSUES
What about 'this' hemming and hawing?
George W. Bush, the governor of Texas and the leading Republican presidential hopeful, made a series of statements about the costs of illegal immigration, and then was forced to withdraw those statements after critics expressed shock and surprise. During an interview with the San Francisco Chronicle, Bush said he did not think the federal government should reimburse states for the costs associated with undocumented migration, a position from which he has now backed away.
As governor of Texas, Bush inherited and supported a lawsuit that sought reimbursement from the federal government for costs associated with illegal immigration.

Bush too soft on immigration
Web posted {{{September 12, 1999)))
Augusta Chronicle Editorial Staff
GOP presidential candidate Steve Forbes is rightfully scoring points against frontrunner George W. Bush on the illegal immigration issue.
The Texas governor, who helped sue the federal government for not doing its share to keep out or to care for undocumented aliens once they arrived in the Lone Star State, told The San Francisco Chronicle that the federal government should stop reimbursing the states for the costs of illegal aliens.
Bush critics -- and even some of his friends -- jumped all over this strange contradiction. Think about it. What would a President Bush do if Governor Bush ultimately wins the lawsuit?
In any event, the governor retreated from his statement
but it took five days -- and was less than convincing.
And here we are January 25,2004! Have people forgotten or did they not know?!
