The Iranians will never forgive nor forget our involvement in the overthrow of their democratic government and the installation of the US puppet dictatorship of the Shaw. The Iranians learned first hand that the US is not to be trusted. Without the Shaw, Islamic fundamentalism wouldn't have gained near the momentum and political power without the motivation that we handed them. At the time, protecting British oil interests probably sounded like a good idea, but you just never know where it will lead.
