Any big, strong American male who doesn't turn to a "pool of blubber" on seeing that beautiful, stricken little face is no man.

IMO, a man who understands the circumstances underlying that photo should be filled with outrage.

PS:

If the leftist faggot media had done it's job, this would have been so.

LOL....In all fairness, I think Sec. 9 was being sarcastic.

I thought so also. That's why I merely ribbed him about a "section8" name change.

"I think a lot of people who write the White House say in their notes that they are praying for the President. He's not ashamed of his faith, so many Americans are comfortable sharing their faith with him."

And just imagine how this has changed the landscape of our country over the last four years. This President has opened the dialog about faith, and more people feel free to discuss it. I cannot believe how fortunate we are to have this man, for this time.

A little something to get the minds of conservatives off of the immigration fiasco.

Does this mean that a recess-appointed judge has to go back to committee or does he go straight to a full-Senate vote?

Thank you all so much for your pings!

This is, truly, a very happy day.
Not only has President Bush made this recess appointment,
but we're getting more Representatives in Texas!
To top that off, I've found some tropical clothes for my trips,
and Comcast is back online for me.
Ya' cain't ask for much more than that. lol

"WKB is our Mississippi's wittiest and most knowledgeable poster. Succinct and eloquent. And shy. Hope he doesn't read this."

Double dittos to that, girlfriend.

Haley may be the Governor of Mississippi, but WKB is THE MAN! ;o)

Try figuring this out minus your cynical leap that's it's only about politics.

Good point

"It's smart politics, but it's not for "holding the conservative base" because of the amnesty proposition. It's to influence the outcome of the caucus vote on Monday." ASTUTE OBSERVATION -- my thoughts exactly!

That, and that it provides a tangible example to set the stage for whatever point W intends to make on the subject of judges during the SOTU address on Tuesday.

How odd. Just watching morning headlines, and believe it or not, Katherine Harris looks like a Murphy Brown with dark hair.

he and Rove figured there'd be quite an outrage over the amnesty deal so they made up a list of actions that could quiet the base down or at least get the story off the front page. Going to the moon for one. 1.5 Billion for "helping marriages" for another. And now the money shot - recess appointing a judge. As I said before, smart politics

I tend to agree with you on this. This amnesty stuff has really gotten everyone in an uproar, but what is even funnier to watch is the "rats" scrambling to figure out how they can oppose it and what is NOT to like about it which in turn causes them to move farther to the left. This has created a dialogue on the problem that at this point no one is or has really ever done anything about. I agree with Hannity by the time this (amnesty) is discected in the congress and senate it will be more restrictive and BUSH and his advisors know this.

The Pickering moment was done at the right time, and after a year of this man doing an outstanding and fair job, and about the time some are up for reelection, oh this s perfect timing IMO.

Fox didn't get it right. They weren't accurate. And, because of that, they did a disservice to Katherine Harris.

They started to cover Harris' speech--she was talking about a bill she'd passed and was very proud of--but Fox cut back to their MJ coverage. Then the anchor came back on and said, "Katherine Harris IS running for the Senate" and cut back to her (this surprised me, because I had read about an hour before this in a couple Florida papers on-line that she ISN'T running). As the applause was dying she said, "but not this year." Then they cut back to MJ coverage, with a short statement that corrected their error. The coverage totalled about 45 seconds, and they weren't accurate. It would have been better and and certainly much more accurate if they'd covered Harris on tape delay (Brit Hume showed the complete sentence on his show).

Greta's dad was Joe McCarthy's campaign manager? That fact fascinates me. It may be the reason she does not come across to me as a flaming liberal. She is a direct person and smart and quick, characteristics I like. She may have learned from McCarthy's experience that the country does not always appreciate being told the truth about communism or it's derivatives and has moderated herself accordingly.

Greta's father's first name is Urban.  I was a bit too young to remember him being Tailgunner Joe's campaign manager, but I remember the controversy about her father--he fought his suspension every step of the way-- who was a circuit court judge in Outagamie County (Appleton, Wisconsin), the county just south of me.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/ac2/wp-dyn/A45269-2003Aug25?language=printer

In her book, Van Susteren recalls how her father, a judge who was Joe McCarthy's campaign manager in 1946, was suspended from the bench after being convicted of failing to pay his state taxes on time. After his death in 1989, Van Susteren won a ruling from the Wisconsin Supreme Court that her father, who often paid his taxes late, didn't intend to defraud the state.

Now just imagine the media spins on all this...

Hillary is going to get into this bigtime and I would guess that Timmmmm is going to have her on very soon.....

as soon as she's finished selecting the Dem candidate for 2004 who will be her VP in 2008. I can only see it being Clark. If that doesn't happen, I'm guessing the possible end of the Clinton era..... barring a Foster event.

Yeah. Even Howard Dean felt obligated to point out how he has faith, hehehehehehe. When a hard-Left Dem feels he has to at least acknowledge God in order to appeal to voters, the landscape sure has changed.
