A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.   Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

The holidays are over and we've all eaten *way* more than we want to admit to or even face up to. The promise was made on New Year's Eve (c'mon, 'fess up to it) to shed any and *all* excess poundage.

I can empathize that you need all the help that you can get. So, being the concerned FReeper FRiend that I am, I have decided to rerun a thread I brought to you last summer:

by dansangel

Admit it - Free Republic is *so* addictive, you just don't get anywhere near the recommended daily amount of exercise. Add to that the holiday season that just passed, and can you say, "Double-whammy?" You're in good company, so don't feel ashamed. By following the scientifically developed exercise regimen designed specifically for FReepers and presented below, you will be guaranteed to "shed those unwanted pounds, tone up flab and add *years* to your life, or your money back!"

So, what are you waiting for? Let's get started!

First, it is *imperative* that you have the proper area in which to perform your exercise program. Study the above chart carefully and conform your workspace to the specs given before starting the FReepercise program.

Next, it is always recommended that you start out slowly and work your way up to the more difficult exercises. With this in mind, the above illustrated exercise is perfect to start. Take your hands and s-t-r-e-t-c-h them as far as they will go over the width of the keyboard. Now, relax. S-t-r-e-t-c-h and relax. Repeat for a total of 10 times. Rest for five minutes and go on to the next set.

OK. Next, you will need to find a soft, squishy object that fits in the palm of your hand. A cat or dog toy will do. Looking at the above example, hold the object in your hand in a similar fashion and s-q-u-e-e-z-e. Relax. Now, once again s-q-u-e-e-z-e and relax. Repeat for a total of 10 times. Rest only for four minutes this time and then it's on to the next set.

Now comes the fun. It is scientifically proven that computer games cause your heart rate to elevate along with blood pressure and respiration. Since this is a sign of exertion, it qualifies as FReepercise. Fire up your favorite program and have at it for 30 minutes. When finished, take a five minute breather. Then, it's on to something a bit more rigorous.

Place both of feet firmly on the floor. As illustrated above, lean a-l-l the way over to your right, as far as you can go. Then, lean a-l-l the way over to your left, again as far as you can go. Repeat ten times. Feel the burn! This time, rest ten minutes. You'll need it.

For this one, you'll need to leave the comfort of your work space. Find a couple of two-pound weights and an object that can be used as a step. A couple of wine bottles and the kid's annoying boombox will do. Look at the picture above and do the drill. Think he looks like a dork? Just don't look in the mirror. You'll be fine. Oh, and about fifty of those will suffice.

Tired yet? Good. No pain, no gain. Repeat the above carefully planned regimen for the next 6 weeks and you, too can look like this:

Or this:

Or even this:

*Guaranteed* ~ Or, your money back. [*G*]

3) In the next box enter your name in the "Calendar Text" field and then click on submit.
4) If any of the screens fail to load simply click on refresh in your browser and that will usually fix it.
5) If all else fails or simply if you want me to do this for you send me a FReepmail and I will gladly do it for you. ~Mixer

No, no, no! That will *add* unsightly pounds! Never, ever leave FR - just do the recommended exercises while FReeping!

In the morning . . . He went out and departed to a solitary place; and there He prayed. —Mark 1:35

THINKING IT OVER
In the stillness of the morning,
Before a busy day of care,
How sweet to be alone with God
Through His holy Word and prayer

Let Christ be first in your thoughts in the morning, and last in your thoughts at night.

In The Morning

Read: Mark 1:23-39

In the morning . . . He went out and departed to a solitary place; and there He prayed. —Mark 1:35

Bible In One Year: Genesis 33-35; Matthew 10:1-20

Are you so rushed during the day that you find it hard to take even a few minutes to spend with God? Many people set aside time in the early morning before they get caught up in the hectic pace of the day.

I read about a very busy man who somehow manages to find time for giving the day a spiritual jump-start. He's Dr. Ben Carson, chief of pediatric neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins Children's Center, a position he assumed in 1984 when he was only 33 years old.

Here's Carson's testimony about the value of putting spiritual things first: "I've found that having a morning ritual—meditation or some quiet reading time—can set the tone for the whole day. Every morning, I spend a half-hour reading the Bible, especially the book of Proverbs. There's so much wisdom there. During the day, if I encounter a frustrating situation, I think back to one of the verses that I read that morning."

Jesus faced busy days filled with demanding crowds of people. In Mark's gospel we read, "In the morning, having risen a long while before daylight, He went out and departed to a solitary place; and there He prayed" (1:35).

Do you take time to read God's Word and pray? Try it in the morning. It can transform your day. —Vernon Grounds

In the stillness of the morning,
Before a busy day of care,
How sweet to be alone with God
Through His holy Word and prayer. —Anderson

Let Christ be first in your thoughts in the morning, and last in your thoughts at night.

Good morning Angel. Please don't hurt yourself doing all those exercises. I think I will stay in bed and contemplate the upcoming snowstorm and see if I can get somebody to shovel the stuff.

Seriously it is a very good post.

Love the Pledge graphic

Thank you, but I cannot take credit for it other than finding out on the Web. I hope one day to be able to create something similar on my own, but there's still so much to learn!

I've made up my mind to think positively, so I *will* be down there prior to your retirement - LOL

Once we get there, you and Mr. A always have a place to come visit.
