Email/Letter writing campaign against The President's plan for immigration
Myself

Posted on 01/07/2004 7:45:17 PM PST by Remember_Salamis

Has anybody started an email/letter writing campaign in response to the president's proposed immigration initiative?

We need to show the president that he can't take advantage of his conservative base.

For your information, FreeRepublic is primarily a Republican website. And if you feel there's a problem with my selecting their poll to show what Republicans think, them perhaps you can show us a poll that is more reflective of Republican thought/opinion?

As a former pollster, the Free Republic poll qualifies as a self-selected poll. E.g.: Persons who are predisposed to a point of view.

Is this poll available to all and sundry, including Democrats, yahoo-ites, MSNsters? dreadnaughts? No? Then it is not scientific.

An accurate poll must include a diverse and (most important for your interpretation) NON BIASED sampling.

Who do you think is answering this poll? DU? Get a scientific grip.

As for my so-called "naughty taunt," you missed my point completely.

And you obviously are not Southern, or you would not in the least be offended by being addressed as "honey" - LOL!

Have a nice day...

Like I said, if you can find a poll that's more reflective of Repulbican opinion, then by all means post it. As far as your thoughts that the FreeRepublic poll is dominated by DU, that's bogus. You're simply afraid to face that fact that a great many Republicans feel Bush's new proposal is nonsense... I'll bet you even think Bill O'Reilly is DU, too, right?

They most certainly are criminals. They break the law when they cross the border. They break the law when they go to work, or go on welfare. They break the law when they drive without a license, or when they get one with fraudulent ID.

No matter how you cut it they are criminals. They spit on our laws and then want to be rewarded for it. These aren’t the kind of people we need here. We need people who respect the law and don’t break it. We have enough home grown criminals. We don’t need to import more.

Thank you for your common sense! You nailed it at the basic level. And at the broader level, there is a strategic little game going on that so many Americans don't either seem to or want to see. And in an effort to masquerade the game, the proponents of illegal immigration --- both here and abroad -- are manipulating and playing the race card, the "compassion" card, etc.

And in the meantime, our own children's and grandchildren's futures are at stake.

So tell us arne just why do you support the criminals?

They are younger, handsomer, smarter and more productive than you.

Looks like your damage control machine needs a little oil.

Sorry. "Younger, handsomer, smarter, more productive and less assfat and useless". That's what I meant to say.

Thanks for the shoutout Hadenuf.

I voted no in the poll but I still support Bush. How do you reconcile that? You can't measure loss of support with the results of a poll on a single issue.

It appears that many are trying to spin a poll on one issue into massive loss of support for Bush. Damn I wish we could get some worthy competition around here. Even the Duers are smarter than these guys.

He sure did. He just missed the stop loss orders but is still on reserve standby. It makes things a bit uncertain but he is ready to go if they call him back.

There ARE plenty of angry Republicans out there, like me. And what can we do when our Republican Congressmen tell us they can't get the necessary cooperation from enough of the other Republican lawmakers AND the White House to get tough and really tackle the issue?

It saddens me to see the Bush Administration proposing such a Clintonesque policy.

And, speaking of Congressmen -- unlike the petty Tancredo bashers on this thread, I respect Tancredo for being upfront about this issue back when no one else would touch it. Tear him down all you want, but TANCREDO HAS INTEGRITY.

People need to get beyond the race card and the "compassion" crutch and ponder the long-term, geo-strategic implications of this issue. THAT is something that employers of illegals, the WSJ editorialists and politicians pandering for minority-coalition votes do not want to do, for various short-term economic reasons.

Oh bull. Bush has always approached Mexican immigration like this. He really believes he is doing the right thing and he is not going to be swayed by a bunch of "pissed off republicans" or anyone else. He knows you are mad, he knows he will not gain from this but he has NEVER given ANYONE a reason to believe he was against doing something like this. This outrage is expected but for crying out loud, these people were in the country long before he was elected and NOITHING was being done, he is doing something and he is doing EXACTLY what anyone from Texas knew he would do.
