There ARE plenty of angry Republicans out there, like me. And what can we do when our Republican Congressmen tell us they can't get the necessary cooperation from enough of the other Republican lawmakers AND the White House to get tough and really tackle the issue?

It saddens me to see the Bush Administration proposing such a Clintonesque policy.

And, speaking of Congressmen -- unlike the petty Tancredo bashers on this thread, I respect Tancredo for being upfront about this issue back when no one else would touch it. Tear him down all you want, but TANCREDO HAS INTEGRITY.

People need to get beyond the race card and the "compassion" crutch and ponder the long-term, geo-strategic implications of this issue. THAT is something that employers of illegals, the WSJ editorialists and politicians pandering for minority-coalition votes do not want to do, for various short-term economic reasons.

Oh bull. Bush has always approached Mexican immigration like this. He really believes he is doing the right thing and he is not going to be swayed by a bunch of "pissed off republicans" or anyone else. He knows you are mad, he knows he will not gain from this but he has NEVER given ANYONE a reason to believe he was against doing something like this. This outrage is expected but for crying out loud, these people were in the country long before he was elected and NOITHING was being done, he is doing something and he is doing EXACTLY what anyone from Texas knew he would do.
