Jewish advocacy groups led an avalanche of sharp criticism yesterday against two potential television ads that compare President Bush to Adolf Hitler and were posted on a Web site run by MoveOn.org.

The Simon Wiesenthal Center, the Anti-Defamation League and the American Jewish Congress said the ads were beyond the pale of political discussion. Rep. Eric Cantor, Virginia Republican, called them "hate-mongering."

"cheapens the level of political discourse in America."

Is that actually possible?

"the organization would no longer accept any foreign contributions."

How about the ones that they already received?

Moveon.lies compares Bush to Hitler, Lieberman disagrees with it....

I saw on the FOX scrolling sign tonight that Move-On had apologized for their "error" in posting the ads to their website. The ads are supposed to have been taken down.

Guess their trial balloon didn't float!!

I've heard some Democrats say that this is no different than the ad that ran in 2002 portraying Daschle as Osama bin-Laden, which somehow justifies this moveon.org ad.

Right. They apologized after the Simon Weisenthal Center response, then had the audacity to put up yet another Bush=Hitler ad.

I heard they had taken them both down. I refuse to give them a hit on their website just to check it out.

I heard they had taken them both down.

Hadn't heard that myself, if that's true, then they did the right thing by doing so.

I refuse to give them a hit on their website just to check it out.

Ditto.

I'd say MoveOn singlehandly accomplished what generations of GOP inducements never could: make the GOP attractive to Jews. As a Jew I find this sick comparison deeply offensive. It seems to me the Left is off its mental rockers if they have to resort to a gutter level smear to beat President Bush.

ADS ATTACKED BY RNC CHAIRMAN
ARE NOT MOVEON.ORG VOTER FUND ADS

MoveOn.org Voter Fund Regrets Screening Process Allowed Ads to Slip Through

Statement by Wes Boyd, Founder of MoveOn.org Voter Fund:

The Republican National Committee and its chairman have falsely accused MoveOn.org of sponsoring ads on its website which compare President Bush to Adolf Hitler. The claim is deliberately and maliciously misleading.

During December the MoveOn.org Voter Fund invited members of the public to submit ads that purported to tell the truth about the President and his policies. More than 1,500 submissions from ordinary Americans came in and were posted on a web site, bushin30seconds.org, for the public to review.

None of these was our ad, nor did their appearance constitute endorsement or sponsorship by MoveOn.org Voter Fund. They will not appear on TV. We do not support the sentiment expressed in the two Hitler submissions. They were voted down by our members and the public, who reviewed the ads and submitted nearly 3 million critiques in the process of choosing the 15 finalist entries.

We agree that the two ads in question were in poor taste and deeply regret that they slipped through our screening process. In the future, if we publish or broadcast raw material, we will create a more effective filtering system.

Contrast this with the behavior of the RNC and its allies when supporters of President Bush used TV ads morphing the faces of Sens. Tom Daschle (D-SD) and Max Cleland (D-GA) into that of Osama Bin Laden during the 2002 Senate races.

MoveOn.org and the MoveOn.org Voter Fund exist to bring the public into the political process and produce a more fact-based election process. We regret that the RNC doesn’t seem to embrace the same goals.

_________________________________________________________________________________

The MoveOn family of organizations consists of three entities. MoveOn.org, a 501(c)(4) organization, primarily focuses on education and advocacy on important national issues. MoveOn.org PAC, a federal PAC, primarily helps members elect candidates who reflect our values. And MoveOn.org Voter Fund, a 527 organization, primarily runs ads exposing President Bush's failed policies in key "battleground" states.

________________________________________________________________________

We agree that the two ads in question were in poor taste and deeply regret that they slipped through our screening process.

"Regret" myass.

They never apologize - they change the blame. Typical liberals.

Didn't stop CNN from playing it this morning with Judy Woodruff in orgasmic delight over her "news".

What an uneducated and ignorant analogy comparing George Bush to Hitler. Hitler never went to a foreign country at great expense to his own populace to liberate the people did he?

Never mind folks - the low road these people have taken serves to show the public there are some determined socialists among us who will do anything to promote their "chosen" ideology for this country.

I believe the American people have already "chosen" the path of democracy and equality, and will have their message heard loud and clear when our President George W. Bush is re-elected.

I have just come off the moveon.org website. Cannot find any contact point on their site. I guess they have their own closed society! What I was going to tell them was that if they think that retard James Carville looked like an idiot with a trash can over his head (on CNN) when the "traitor/treason" democrat party got spanked in 2002, wait until they see the size of the garbage can he will be wearing this year! Folks, the current democrat party needs to be totally destroyed at the ballot box in 2004!

In order to "contact" them you have to fill in your personal history including your address. Sounds a bit paranoid to me.

When you are playing dangerously as these people apparently are, I guess a bit of paranoia makes them feel more secure.

All that energy for nothing. They are alienating their own "party" and I see the democrats searching for excuses to justify this disgusting a-political garbage.

The ads "slipped through" because there wasn't a single person at Moveon that had any problem with them, until they became PR liabilities.

To even claim there was a "screening process" to eliminate tasteless submissions when there obviously wasn't one does what one would think impossible: Make Moveon appear even less ethical.

Even Carville thinks Dean is nuts and a danger to the Democratic Party. If Hatred-Powered Howard becomes the nominee, Ol' Serpenthead isn't going to be shedding any tears when Bush wins 49 states.
