Las Vegas Man Accused Of Posing As Doctor (Muslim terrorism not being reported by the media?)
KBVC-TV ^

Posted on 01/05/2004 5:07:29 PM PST by Michael2001

He's given hundreds of flu shots over the past few months, but health officials say he isn't a doctor and they still don't know exactly what he's been injecting. It's a story you saw First on News 3. Shahid Shiekh is under police investigation after shutting down one of his clinics in Washington State. News 3 has learned that Shiekh has also operated an office in Henderson. News 3's Kori Chambers is digging deeper.

It's still unclear whether this phony doctor fooled any Las Vegans. We spoke with Shiekh's attorney and asked him point blank whether the man was giving injections here in Las Vegas. He would not comment, but if you log on to Shiekh's web site, you might think he was, with four providers listed in Las Vegas and Henderson. We called all four, and none of them knew who he was.

"There was no, apparently no process for validating his credentials. Anyone could have come in with that attire and that demeanor and injected whatever into us." Domingue thinks his family is one of hundreds across the west coast that might have been fooled. "He was a very pleasant, very nice. He put your fears at ease, but I still was a little uneasy."

Their step daughter is still running a fever after getting an a flu shot back in October. They think problem was the doctor, or rather, the man they thought was a doctor giving the vaccine. Shahid Shiekh is not licensed to be giving the flu vaccine, but Washington health officials believe that he was. His lawyer wouldn't tell us whether he was giving any of the vaccine here in the valley.

We have learned that Shiekh has been acting as broker between health care providers and Las Vegas companies, even into this year, but that's not illegal in itself, because he wasn't providing flu shots. Washington health officials are just beginning their investigation into whether Shiekh took a much more active role there.

Since Shiekh was giving flu shots to patients in Washington, the obvious question many of you might be having right now is, 'How can I know I'm getting the flu shot from a qualified person?' We talked to the Clark County Health District, who says there are four types of medical professionals who are legally allowed to give shots. They include a physician, a physician's assistant, a licensed practical nurse, and a pharmacist. Registered nurses and nurse practitioners may also be able to give flu shots. To make sure your doctor is licensed, use the web site above.

They know if there was any possibility these people got the vaccine. You don't buy this stuff over the counter at Walmarts and each vial has a lot number. They know if any was issued to him or not

and from this FR thread on 12/17/03
Still, he has been injecting hundreds of unsuspecting people with a mysterious substance. Bellevue Police now joined the state Department of Health in launching an investigation: “Most of the allegations that we’re looking into right now are fraud issues in terms of misrepresentation,” said Michael Chiu, Bellevue Police Dept. KING 5 Investigators have learned Shahid Sheikh was already under federal investigation before he started giving flu shots in Western Washington.

Maybe the AQ static was right and the US will experience plagues on a grand scale. Thank God nobody was improperly profiled in the process.

And it shouldn't take more than a day to investigate that. I, for one, would like to know if was Ebola or Smallpox or something like H2O.

Bellevue, Washington, eh? MicroSoft headquarters, isn't it? "Not THAT kind of virus, Shahid!"

Seriously, I do wonder how in the world this could happen. I guess when your doctor is called a "provider" it no longer matters whether or not he or she really is an M.D.

Exactly. If he had the vaccine, I would think to try to reassure people they would report under a false MD license he received so many doses from a credentialed RX or the health department. Hopefully, he is just a con giving saline shots but I would insist lab be drawn and me and mine tested. You are right though. They knew within hours if he had it or not. In fact they probably have some of the vials of what he was using.

Interesting name of the Officer in the Bellevue Police deartment making the statement. Pure coincidence I am sure.

Nonetheless, the activites of this Shiekh are extremely disturbing and potentially disasterous.

BTW, a great review of my Volume IV of the Dragon's Fury Series just came up on Barnes & Noble (click HERE to see the review) and there are several already up on Amazon too. Both sites have sold out for the second time since just before Chrismas.

As always, I look forward to your own thoughts on Volume IV my friend.

Poor guy. He'd have made more money marrying drunk slutty singers at 4:30 a.m. and then selling his story to the media.

You can bet, behind the scenes, our people are going crazy checking out the possibility for other similar types of activites...at least I hope and pray to God that they are.

This AP article also spells it "Sheikh."

The Associated Press.
January 3, 2004, Saturday

Dozens receive flu shots from unlicensed clinic

MESA, Ariz.

More than 30 people in Maricopa County received flu shots that came from an unlicensed Washington state flu clinic.

State health officials said no evidence exists the shots from MedSources Inc. of Bellevue were ineffective.

The state Department of Health is sending out notices to the people who received the shots, said Bob England, state epidemiologist.

About a dozen residents of Yavapai County also received questionable vaccines from MedSources.

The company specializes in providing flu shots to workplaces, but officials said the owner, Shahid Sheikh, 45, did not have the proper authorization to do so. Health officials said the company administered hundreds of flu shots that could be old or diluted, but are not harmful.

King County, Wash., prosecutors have filed nine felony charges against Sheikh, officials said.

Dry run.

Anything that people want to be terrorism, that isn't, becomes a "dry run" on FR.

Obviously, since it went on for months, he wasn't injecting any of the scary bioterror diseases du jour like Smallpox, Ebola, etc., since no one apparently got really sick.

Of course theoretically possible to inject AIDS or maybe some form of Hepatitis, but I suspect people hoping he was conducting a terror attack will end up disappointed yet again.

Almost all names in most Muslim countries are the equivalents of stuff like "John Smith" or "David Johnson" and whatnot. And "Shahid Sheikh" seems like one that would be high on the really common list.

hundreds of thousands of people with the same name throughout the Islamic world, which has led to really enormous amounts of confusion (the whole "Clinton made the Israelis release Mohammed Atta" e-mail hoax, etc.) and HUGE problems with the TSA computer watch list for terrorist names.

You know what really worries me? I haven't heard "it's not terrorism, move along". They are telling people they aren't sure what they got. Maybe it's just a change to keep us more aware lately, (I hope so) but this bothers me.

I look forward to your own thoughts on Volume IV my friend.

My copy should arrive soon, and I'll gladly post a review. It might depend heavily on whether my company's flu shots came from this guy and what was in them.
