Democrats air concern on vote fraud

Boca raton · Critics warned Monday that computer error or outright fraud easily could alter the outcome of elections conducted on Palm Beach County's electronic voting machines.

For example, he said, it would be easy for a beginning computer science student to rig the devices so that 57 percent of all votes next fall go to President Bush -- regardless of who the voters actually select.

From the article:

LePore has become a lightning rod for Democrats since the recount that followed the 2000 presidential elections. Some party members think her strict interpretation of election law helped Bush over Democrat Al Gore in the recount process.

Darn her! /sarcasm

On any case, the Dems are correct... (broken clocks are right twice a day), a computerized system can and will be manipulated for fraudulent purposes. It just depends on how long the Dems can figure out how to manipluate it in their favor.

As I recall, one state (New Mexico?) had modern voting machines and their error rate was 2%. Much higher than the error rate in the disputed counties in Florida.

Itwas the Dems here in florida that whined and demanded touch screen computerized ballots and now this...

Thye got rid of these beautiful 1950's lever booths that were so cool - I had my 3 kids in for voting in 1996 and 2000. No errors possible in those old lever machines. They got rid of them of course...too bad.

Stupid dems make others pay for their stupidity.

The county I vote in (Escambia) has computer counted ballots that look kinda like computerized tests you took in school. You fill in the line for the candidate you want with any type of writing utensil and the ballot workers put it in the machine. If the machine can't read it then it can still be scored by human eye. I like those ballots because there is a paper trail left behind for recounts and certification.

I believe there was another FR post a couple of days ago stating that the security firm for the electronic voting machines has been breached by a hacker. The new machines would appear to make vote fraud easier, not more difficult as claimed.

No, it can't be. Al Gore swore he would fix all the problems after the election. Since he's on to his next personal crisis, one can only assume he fixed it all.

Amazing. Dems complaining about voter fraud are like prostitutes complaining about promiscuity....

I voted using these machines. I saw a printout being printed underneath the machine. Why not let us have it? Check it over and then turn it in. Anyway, I asked the woman at the desk about this and she looked totally confused.

The Dems are up to something. I hate to admit it, but Wexler is right. We need someway to verify that the votes match up. I think this is all smoke and mirrors. I guarantee you they have already found a way to cheat.

No, they just complain early and often about what they intend to do. Call it 'telegraphing their punches'.

That must be what they are doing to us here in Louisiana. Only I think they set the bar at 55%.

I think that in CA a paper trail is required for electronic voting machines.

The sample ballot that you bring into the booth should be your "paper record".

What the hell are you going to do with "a receipt"? If there is ANY intention that these could be used in a recount - NO WAY - that right there is a great opportunity for dimocrats to cheat.

Pre-emptive Strike Alert!!!

Democrats are setting up the "I told you so" argument. I bet they're working on their lawsuits as we type.

The RATS almost assuredly have hackers working on these electronic voting machines already. It's a lot easier and cheaper to have a few down in the basement of DNC headquarters than sending out the troops with cash and cigarettes on Election Day.

Only I think they set the bar at 55%.

Out here in Northern California, when they want to rig an election they just lose a ballot box. A couple of years ago a ballot box was found floating in the San Francisco Bay after an election.

The Democrats are projecting - attributing to the right/conservatives, what the DEMOCRATS want or plan to do.

Whenever they say "campaigns are so nasty" or "foreign money shouldn't be taken." get ready for them to do that very thing.

Sure computer voting can be fixed. You always need a paper hard copy and that can be counted and recounted by a scanner. You also need to verify identity and absentee ballots. Notice it's the Democrats that fight ID and rush to buy computer voting machines.

I didn't have a sample ballot. I had some little computer card that I turned in. Why not be able to verify votes with a printed piece of paper? The vote tallies in the computer had better match the votes tallies on the printed pieces of paper, if not then there is a computer error.
As long as we have representatives from all the parties involved in the process we can keep the cheating to a minimum.
It's not perfect, but it certainly makes me feel better knowing my vote is exactly what I wanted it to be. Right now...once you turn in the little card...you don't know what's going on.
