It just crossed into Oregon
If it really crossed into Oregon, there's a problem...because the normal route would have it coming into LAX having passed over Las Vegas.
Directing a flight out over the coast would mean, to me, they don't want it flying over populated areas.
I'm guessing, though, that you're looking at that rudimentary route map, which isn't accurate at all regarding true routing.

Air France will use BRIE as Chaff to defend itself..... Hey, have you ever left a baguette out on the counter for a day or two? You could play major league ball with one after that.

maybe the terrorists want to provoke us into blowing an Air France jet out of the sky a political weapon for Democrats and France against Bush

how about an air force base? where is Edwards in relation to the flight path?
I guess what I am saying is, the F16s could intercept it if it veered off course, but it could veer at the last minute on the approach to LAX and hit alot of things, better to get it someplace else.

Agreed.

You are wrong. I have travelled to Europe from the west coast and back. The route is always straight up the west coast to the Artic and then down through Greenland into Europe. Taking the shortest distance.

I agree...but this bites.
I don't have DSL so I can't make any calls to anyone to see what's happening.
I guess I could turn on the news, but the kids are watching "Chicken Run" for the umpteenth time this holiday.
"Chicken Run"....is that ironic or what?

That's okay. I see it now.
To: Dog
Not to many places can handle a 747....besides he has to F-16's on his tail.....they'll smoke him he aims that bird toward a target.....he better not even deviate one inch.
I would imagine he would need an order directly from the president to blow up a jetliner, they would have to be absolutely sure. Could you imagine the consequences of Blowing a plane out of the sky and find out it was for nothing. Maybe the president has delegated his authority to a general in the Air Force or something, i dont know, but I think it would take a while before the order would be given.
To: cmsgop
they have a screensaver that runs realtime data to your desktop, I wish I had a "spare" PC I could load it onto just to see what it does.

Check 148
That one's closer to being realistic than the other one....but remember the big concern last week regarding Las Vegas was the fact that they normally route directly over Las Vegas.
