In my house, we teach our children R-E-S-P-E-C-T. This includes respect for people who are older than they, no matter what their social/economic/racial background. My parents did the same, and if I acted like this child, I would have got the belt. In fact, if I was disrespectful to an adult, I usually got an open hand smack and an earful in front of that adult. When I got home, the advice continued and if I didn't show respect, out came the belt.

I now realize the value of all of the lessons they taught, and I dearly love my parents for moulding me into the person I am today. I hope the same from my children.

But he was probably Haitian and she was probably African American. Not the same thing in Miami.

From my experience growing up in South Florida, the Haitian blacks are hated because they see America as a place of opportunity.

I would agree that letting this sort of undisciplined girl get away with her public display of expletives and coin throwing at a shop keeper may very well lead to the creation of a Malvo, but I am unsure if that is what you meant.

Depending on the circumstances, I might thank him. Having been to little Haiti, this neighborhood may need more store keepers like this man, not fewer.

Let me relate a story about a teen age boy in Wyoming: The smart alec kid thought he had the world by a string his freshman year of highschool. He promtly flunked freshman english which was being taught by a new teacher who had a problem keeping control of the class. Enter another english teacher, one who had worked for this boys dad the previous summer assembling farm equipment. A teacher who was also the football/wrestling coach. One who went by the name of "Moose" and lived up to it. At the semester the freshman english classes were broken up and the biggest trouble makers were sent to one class with "Moose" as the teacher. This certain teen age boy thought he could smart off to "Moose" as they were buddies. The words had hardly left my, oops, his mouth when I, oops again, he was grabbed by his shirt collar and slammed against the black board so hard it knocked the wind out of him. Surprising thing, that kid ended up taking an extra year of english as he found out he sort of liked it.

Yep, me too .....had a less than intelligent moment in my own young life that made me think I could hit one of my teachers that by all accounts was/is a certifiable mean and crazy son of a peach grabbin prick. I took a swing at him and woke up about 20 minutes later a lot smarter.........:o)

But !.........IMHO this guy, should have called Mom & Dad , his lawyer and the police the first time, Police and his lawyer the second time and then kept a large, cold slurpy behind the counter to ice down per se just such an attack, physical and verbal from this little cunning runt of a hot head the third time!

Nothing like a big gulp of cold drink tossed into a sweet innocent childs face to chill em out a bit and teach em proper verbage and respect for others.

Crazy world......all this of course is just how I'd handle it and get sued back to the ice age no doubt while doing it. Gone are the good old days of respecting ones elders and being polite to all until they warrant otherwise. Guess we're the last of such an era.........
