If it's 'up to the voters' then let Washington put it up for us to vote on.

Sorry, you're thinking of a more purely democratic form of gov't. We are stuck with representatives in our current form of gov't. In a representative form of gov't, we are responsible for the gov't we elect. If we don't like what they are doing, or not doing, we don't vote for them again.

Don't put then blame on the voters for lack of immigration enforcement. All our 'electeds' take an oath to enforce ALL US laws.

That's cute. Do you still believe in Santa Claus? I'm sure they do their best, but there are so many laws they don't even know what they all are, let alone trying to enforce the ones they do know.

Ever heard Washinton announce they didn't have the *resources* to prosecute all TAX-EVADERS ??

All the time. The IRS randomly selects individuals teach year for audits, i.e. they don't audit everyone! The number of people they audit is strictly dependent on the amount of money allocated for that purpose. Do you want more or less money allocated for audits next year? :^)

They both drove Lincoln Towncars and were limo drivers. Many terrorists flew under the govt radar as limo drivers. Paid in cash.

Please keep me in the loop for information about "legals" filing a lawsuit. Thank you.

I'm sure they do their best, but there are so many laws they don't even know what they all are, let alone trying to enforce the ones they do know.>>>>>>

So I guess the *voters* have enacted too many laws for our gov't to enforce ??? If gov't can't enforce ("not enough resources")all our laws, let them take them off the books, & there's PLENTY they can start with that would pertain to CITIZENS.

****Ever heard Washington announce they didn't have the *resources* to prosecute all TAX-EVADERS ?? (txdoda)***

Sorry, this was posted partly from reading one of your answers on the "Immigration Misstep Thread".

****"Unless amnesty is preceded by a change in immigration laws that will actually be enforced, then it does nothing to solve the illegal immigration problem." (The Don)****

Two head of INS have *announced* in the last two years, we don't have the resources, not workable to deport, too impractical to deport. That & the fact we have millions of illegals running around the USA. That NOBODY'S looking for.

Now you say the LAWBREAKERS should be given amnesty FIRST........then *everyone* will be informed of our 'new immigration laws'.

To 'equate' this to the IRS......IRS would continually tell tax-payers they didn't have the resources to prosucute all of them (btw many of these are illegals), IRS would not be looking for them, IRS would then announce an 'amnesty' for all tax-evaders, & at some 'later date' announce the new tax laws.

"My point: w/o illegals the citrus & avos would't be picked...regardless of wage."

There is no law that controls prices here. There are quite a large number, including you it seems, that cry for amnesty for economics. I say pay 10 bucks a gal for juice!
Give me economic then the political ramifications of this scenario. The two are quite different, only one is right.

"'Legal status for mexican illegals', traded for 'mexican oil' is the rumor I keep hearing."

Who was there for taxpayer bailout when the Peso bottomed out? Mexie oil is needed, but other sources are available. Weigh oil against an open border - a known corridor for human, drugs and arms smuggling, during wartime, which is th obvious choice?

I'm not pleading economics.
I'm stating an observation.
Who's gonna pick our citrus & avos ?
Legal, illegal, black, white, brown, green ?
Tell me, who's gonna do da harvest ??

Your's is a very, very conservative estimate. I'll betchya my income for the next 5 years that there are upward to 30 million illegals.

Who cares? If there is no one than the company folds! You don't appease by having the state disregard immigration law. Who's gonna clean the floors? or flip the burgers or make the cars or....you get the point. You're pleading economics. Most manufacturing is leaving cuz that's where cheap labor is. Can't move a farm so we look a blind eye to the illegals. Who's gonna pick the citrus after their Amnesty and eventual unionization? Those same will walk away from the fields, happened before. No backgrounds, just AMNESTY!

I pronounce this our Creed!

No Person can be considered a "Contributor" to America un-less they are Identified,fingerprinted, placed on the Tax rolls and Social Security with a permanent Address making them a legal Tax paying Citizen;
subject to all the rights and provisions this Country provides to its citizens. Otherwise they continue to be a scab and a botch "WE THE PEOPLE"are obligated to support.

This is a pay as you go society and not a free lunch. If you live here you work here speak the FIRST Language and swear allegiance to the Constitution then you get to share equally in a system "EVERBODY" Supports and pays into! Time to come out of the woodworks and live in the open or follow your noses back across the Borders!
