MSNBC just announced that three flights from Paris to the U.S. have been suddenly cancelled due to "security concerns". The first flight was scheduled to depart Paris heading for Los Angeles.
I could not find an article yet.

Apparently, per Fox the US Embassy in Paris alerted Air France but will not comment any further. It seems to me a lot of emphasis is being placed on LAX. One was supposed to arrive at 4:05pm PST one later has been cancelled, Air Tahiti from Paris to LA to Tahiti also cancelled.

You are right. However does past performance give them a pass on their current behavior?

Maybe they couldn't find a sober flight crew?

Sounds like a good plan to me.

On 9/11 the hijackers came from 3 airports. Anyone know of any other odd cancellations?

An important detail is arrival time since al-Queda carefully times their attack. That's a very important point. The planes were bound for LAX; I don't know what time they were scheduled to leave, exactly, or when they would have arrived. Do they stop on the East Coast first? But figuring that out could be important. (Particularly to me, since I'm going to CA tomorrow...)

Pretty sick post, actually wishing a terrorist attack upon innocent French civilians. But once you attack a group of people the way the French are routinely attacked on FR, it's easy to make this kind of disturbing statement -- actually wishing French civilians dead.
Merry Christmas, New Horizon!

Maybe they thought the planes would be diverted to bomb Libya. =)

If you go back and examine history you'll find that France's assistance to us during the Revolution was more antoher excuse for them to continue their squabling with their English cousins then it was an interest in our liberty.
As for the quality of their food, wine, art, novels and philosophers that is a subjective opinion. Using France as a standard for all things cultured is highly over-rated.
And as for our fighting side-by-side with them in WWI and WWII. Yes, we did during WWI when we bailed their sorry butts out. During WWII they actually fought against us (North Africa) and fought for the Nazi's (Charlemain Division of the SS).
Screw France and the French people.

Troll! France bad enemy! New Horizon want French people DEAD!

When you find some weapons or bad guys, seems like a sign of good security to me.
Easy to bash the French and we repeat the same old crap every thread. We have great friends in the Alsace region near Mulhouse. They like Bush and think their government is weak. They are in a region which has been in dispute for centuries between the French and Germans. They appreciate the importance of strong national security.

>>We are all in this war together.
The French have had a funny way of showing it. Many Americans have taken note of this, and make derisive comments. This should not be unexpected.

I'm sorry. In my haste I typed "Flights Cancelled" making it sound like all flights, when it was three at this point.
Reporters are waiting to hear if more flights might be cancelled.

This BBC article seems to indicate that it's related to security concerns at LAX.
If there's a security problem at LAX, it probably wouldn't be limited to just these three flights, would it? To me, it sounds more like a problem with these specific flights, something on-board.

"Nothing knee-jerk about anti-French commentary. They're a good part of the reason that we had to go to Iraq in the first place." Absolutely, if France (and Canada, Germany, Syria etc) had not done everything they could to sabotage us at the UN, Iraq could have been taken without a single shot being fired.

One thing I know for sure from watching French TV news on MHZ - GITMO is like a Club Med compared to French prisons.
Let's hope the French catch and put the AQ types away - contrary to French gov't numbers, about 30% of the population of France is Moslem - and the majority CAN'T STAND Al-Quaida. They come to France to live nice, sweet, middle-class French lives.

Put this together with the report that we know the flights that al-Qaeda was planning to hijack through intercepted phone calls and I think we have a match. My guess is that any terror attacks emanating from France are likely to come from the nation's Algerian expatriate community who provided most of the manpower for Zarqawi's crude chemical weapons plots last winter.

France didn't just oppose us in going to war on Iraq ,it fought us and undermined us.It fought us and left NATO during the cold war. They are not our allies .They may work with us if it suits them.I do not trust the French.
