Hillary's Inner Circle Urging Her to Run

Hillary's Inner Circle Urging Her to Run

Members of New York Sen. Hillary Clinton's inner circle
are urging her to jump into next year's presidential
race.

And while the top Democrat has publicly denied she
ready to make the move, privately she's told friends
that her party is heading for disaster - comments that
contradict her public boasts that Democrats stand an
excellent chance of defeating President Bush with the
current crop of presidential candidates.

"She has complained to intimates," reports Tuesday's
New York Times, "she believes the Democratic Party is
in trouble."

Mrs. Clinton's concern over her party's dismal
political prospects has driven her to become more
vocal, taking the lead in criticizing President Bush
and, perhaps not inadvertently, stealing the spotlight
from the nine announced presidential candidates.

"Within Mrs. Clinton's tight inner circle of friends
and advisors, there is a difference of opinion" about
whether she should run in 2004, the Times reports.

"One camp is arguing that President Bush is a much more
vulnerable figure than some polls suggest, and that
2004 provides an opportunity for her to make a
triumphant return to the White House, this time in the
Oval Office."

Bill Clinton has said publicly that he's urged his wife
to get into the race this time around, explaining to a
California audience in September that New Yorkers have
told him they don't care if she breaks her promise to
serve out her Senate term.

Another camp in Hillary's inner circle, however, is
concerned that if she jumps into the race now, her
critics will charge that she only wanted to became a
senator as a steppingstone to the White House.

People "close to Mr. and Mrs. Clinton" surmise that the
former first couple are "enjoying - and deliberately
inviting - speculation about her prospects as a
presidential candidate," the Times said.

At the very least, he should credit The New York Times, where most of this article was cribbed from.

Or Linda Bloodworth Thomason. I'm sure they're just itching to do that historical biography of the first lady president.

Hillary isn't running this year. Not as President, not as Vice-president.
In a way, I wish she was...just to watch Bush cream her.

Hey Merry Christmas.

I can't believe he'd waste ink on Hillary during Christmas holiday. The man must love misery.

Hillary's Inner Circle Urging Her to Run

That's cute! Does 'Hillarys Inner Circle' have names attached to it? Or is this another 'trial baloon' set afloat by Hillary? As the great Hillary decides this, she should keep in mind other names like Livingston, Foster, Lewinski, Broaderick, and many others too numerous to mention. These names will surely come up in her campaign.....

I'm glad someone makes sense here. You are dead-on. She would be far tougher to beat than Dean. A closer race means fewer Senate seats.

<<Do you think hillary has any idea the damage she & her husband did to the democrat party? I doubt it.<<

I'm fascinated by Dean's candidacy. Why isn't he
a loyal Leftist like the rest of them?

Bill and Hillary Clinton are the King and Queen.

Self-appointed, self-annointed.

Since 1992, the Clinton's have held the crown.

If we add another 8 years from 2004 - 2012, this means
the Clinton Dynasty would span TWENTY years!

"I was riding home from Christmas shopping with my son today. He had the radio on a classic rock station, and a Led Zepplin song came on. I heard what I thought they said in the song (have heard that song so many times before, but the words just sunk in) I just checked lyrics.com, and sure enough........
I don't know but I been told, a big-legged woman ain't got no soul."

OMG...that is so funny...I had to repeat it!

I'll make a contribution after Hillary runs down I-75, downtown Atlanta, rush hour. Cashier's check.

Can you imagine if they made a video game out of that? God, forgive me for these thoughts!

I agree she is stronger than Dean, which is why I think she may jump in if Dean wins the first few primaries.

She would galvanize the Demos

Sure she would lose all the Southern states, but she would do very well on the coasts and the Midwest

I think minorities would be much more likely to go to the polls with her as the candidate rather than Dean

Ohh sure, we'd like to think so, but Bill is their Reagan, and Hill is the perfect feminist heroine - a lefty junkies primo smack.

Lets not get sooo cocky that we forget how close '02 really was... We LOST the popular. And they feel cheated/slighted/pissed. HRC will motivate a raising from the dead sorta polling census. You've been warned.
