There have been at least 9 aftershocks, so far, although none are really all that big. But the 6.5 event almost certainly caused some local damage.

I believe that's the 7.7 Kern County Earthquake of 1952, which was just south of Bakersfield, not near San Simeon.

I wonder if gerbils, like other creatures, can sense a quake before it happens and panic. I'm sure the fruit loops have figured this out.

SANTA MARIA FIRE DEPARTMENT IS REQUESTING ASSITANCE FROM MUTUAL COUNTY AGGENCIES TO RESPOND. THEY HAVE MULTPIPLE CALLS BACKED UP. SANTA BARBARA COUNTY IS DISPATCHING FULL ASSIGNMENT UP NORTH.
To: Dog Gone
KNBC: Now beginning to receive damage reports from that area.

Please people, calm down!
Too late, I just looted a TV. It's a California thang. ;-)

Didn't feel anything here in Sacramento, which would scarcely need mentioning if people didn't report feeling earthquakes from ridiculous distances.
6.5 is big. The stately home of Charles Foster Kane (price no man can say) is going to take some damage.

about a 4% chance that this is a FOREshock.
That's it. I'm moving to Iowa.
It's cold there.

I was taking a shower about 25 years ago in California when a 6.1 hit with an epicenter about 8 miles away.
I fell on my butt. A 6.5 would be far worse.

As long as the Fogcatcher Inn is still standing! That's where we stay in Cambria!
