Joe Namath Drunk Interview On ESPN's Patriots-Jets Game Saturday Night?
ESPN ^

Did anyone see Joe Namath's sideline interview with the female reporter-babe during the second quarter of the Pats-Jets game?
She was asking him about Chad Pennington, and he talked to her like Chad was going to lead them to a championship...of course, the Jets aren't going anywhere now...and his speech was very deliberate and slow.
"He's either drunk or he has some kind of disease", I said to my mate.
The very next question, the woman (I didn't catch her name) asked him about how great it was being a QB as a Jet...and Namath started smiling and leaning around her...she kept her distance as best she could as she held the mic up to Joe.
"I wanna kiss you!" Namath blurted...before he got some more composure, spoke about the team looking forward to next year...then ended with the same line "I really wanna kiss you!" or something like that.
The girl said, "Thank you Joe, I'll take that as a compliment."
The announcers were silent for a second, then one of them said, "Joe is a fun guy..."
Kind of reminded me of the story of Howard Cosell getting sauced in the booth during a Monday Night Football game.

I'm wondering if there's going to be some kind of apology by the Jets, Namath, or ESPN.

Normally I wouldn't count on it, but from what I understand, the New York Jets have become quite a classy organization since they were purchased from the Hess estate by Robert Wood Johnson IV (the heir to the Johnson & Johnson fortune). I wouldn't be surprised if they issued some kind of public statement this week -- more to take some heat of Namath than anything else.

Since we're all fuzzy and salutatory (is that a word?), I will raise my final toast of the evening right back at you.
It's a snort of some homebrewed mezcal that one of my supervisors brought up from Mexico for me.
Smooth as silk - but believe me, a little dab'll do ya.....

Heck, after this, I'll probably want to kiss her, too....

Did you see a film clip of this? Broadway was completely toasted. Mike (on Mike'd Up) just said "it appears Joe had one too many eggnogs." ...lol.
To: Alberta's Child
Yes, it's a good idea. Let's see what happens this week.
I should go to bed now. Cya tomorrow, AC.

Truth is, Joe was the best there was in his day. Most people would agree.
I'm kind of a girly-girl so I don't know stats, etc. But, I can say, I don't recall ever seeing a football game on TV until Broadway Joe came on the scene...he brought a lot of us g-g's over to watching football. That's gotta' count for something!

If a certain former US president (also with a well known "healthy" interest in the opposite sex) did what Namath did, this thread is jammed with posts calling him a sleeze, a lech, an immoral jerk and a danger to women............
Namath is simply a lovable scoundrel.
Oh well.

"Most overrated QB to ever play the game."Hey, I was NO Jet fan and absoluted hated Joe Namath, but for three years, and despite being a virtual cripple, Namath was the best QB hands down. He was a feared warrior who as I recall clearly, sliced and diced up the best AFL Raider and Chief defenses in history. Not with the common dump-offs you see today, but with accurate 20-30 yard darts down field. And he was the consummate field general.

"Mike (on Mike'd Up) just said "it appears Joe had one too many eggnogs." ...lol."Heh! Wish I caught it!
BTW, this was a hilarious thread....

Still think Brett Favre is overrated?
