White House says capture shows "Saddam Hussein is not coming back"
The White House says Saddam Hussein's capture shows the ousted Iraqi dictator "is not coming back."
Press Secretary Scott McClellan says President Bush was "very happy" to learn of the raid that netted Saddam at a farm near his hometown, Tikrit (tih-KREET').
Bush is planning to speak publicly about the raid at around noon Eastern Time.
Bush was at Camp David when Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld telephoned with first word U-S commanders thought they had Saddam in custody. But he was back at the White House this morning when aides advised him Saddam's identity had been confirmed.
Bush watched the televised formal announcement by U-S administrator Paul Bremer in Baghdad. And McClellan says he was "particularly moved" by the cheers of Iraqis at video footage of the captured ex-ruler.

They're Gonna Put Me in the Movies
They're gonna put me in the movies
They're gonna make a big star out of me
They'll make a film about a man that's sad and lonely
And all I gotta do is act naturally...

Has anyone heard who we killed on the first night of the war? We thought Saddam was there and bombed the heck out it. I haven't read anything about this raid since it occurred. I wonder if we were close or just got bad info.

Anyone for Popcorn and root beer?
I've poped a bottle of "beer" for Mystery-ak and her husband, since he's there.
Maybe the rat rode on Sgt. Mike's chopper?

What a great morning! I woke up at 5am, looked at FRee Republic and "Yeeehaaaaaa"!
I told my wife still asleep, "We got Saddam Hussein". She woke up a couple of hours later and thought she had been dreaming!
Off to make my second pot of coffee.

If you ever left a message on an answering machine you can do this!
It's really that simple. AND It's a Toll Free Number !
You can leave one or more new messages each day.
Send deployed troops message on SoldiersRadio.com
SoldiersRadio is again this year providing a way to let you tell Service members worldwide that you care and are thinking about them during the Holidays.
You can do an Audio Post Card simply by calling 1-800-330-5090. Your recorded personalized message will be played back on www.SoldiersRadio.com.
You can record a short message (30 seconds) to friends, family members or just a random message of good will. SoldiersRadio will then take your message and put it on the radio Web cast throughout the Holiday Season. Its very simple to do and works both ways ... from the field or to the Service member.
AnyServiceMember.org is also promoting the call-in holiday service in hopes of reaching a large group of people who would like to send a message to Soldiers serving away from home.
The cut-off date for the call in is tomorrow, Monday Dec.15. SoldiersRadio.com |
