SADDAM HUSSEIN CAPTURED

SADDAM HUSSEIN CAPTURED

Former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein has been captured in his home town of Tikrit, according to reports.

There has been no independent verification of the news but Sky New's Foreign Editor Tim Marshall says the source of the news is usually reliable.

The US Defence Department says it has had no confirmation of the claims, which come from Iraqi Kurd leader Jalal Talabani, says the Iran news agency IRNA.

Hundreds of exultant people have taken to the streets of Kirkuk, firing weapons into the air in celebration.

A press conference has been announced for 12pm GMT.

In Baghdad, a spokeswoman for the US-led operation notified reporters that a "very important" announcement will be made at the press conference.

I apologize if anyone's done this already, but it has to be done!

"When offered a glass of water by interrogators, he replied, 'If I drink water I will have to go to the bathroom and how can I use the bathroom when my people are in bondage?'"

You're absolutely right. You're way too smart for me.

Unfair, posting violation. You should be giving me sheite right now. I would give it to you if the roles were reversed.

I am not smart, I just like to antagonize people sometimes. Seriously, there are others out here who are very adept at that sort of business.

I am not like them, I am a good guy. I just wanted to help you reflect more on what you posted.

I think it is instructive to know what our enemies are thinking

Some people think that we can have rational debate with liberals, but I am coming to the conclusion that they suffer from a severe form of depression and paranoia. This can be backed up by reading any thread on DU

Damn straight!! I like to go to that site just because I love to see how stupid those so called educated idiots are!! They have a serious misconception that freepers are a bunch of rednecks! What a pack of clueless asses they are! I've never even posted over there, because I know I would get banned the first time I did.

Every time something like this happens, it puts another nail in their RAT coffins!! I love it!

I can't wait till Nov 04 when they think they're going to take back "their" country!! Oh, I think it's gonna be a great night if nothing out of the blue happens to throw this off track!!

I love to hate their stupidity, lack of logic, and their belief that the are the only ones that know what's really going on in the world... Yeah Right!!

I've only posted once over there.

There was a thread questioning Bush on flying the F-102, and whether or not it was very difficult, so I set them straight about the airplane and how many pilots that particular aircraft had killed in training. I got no replies, and the post was removed in less than a minute, and I was banned.

The truth is a dangerous thing to liberals.

Now you should be the one to apologize: I've got a headache and you are making me laugh with that last post. :) I can't help it if I feel sorry for a guy who looks like death warmed over pulled out of a rat hole with an exhausted look on his face. This whole thing just looked like an excuse to go in and pummel Iraq. I was all gung-ho to go in like the rest of you when it first started, but as it went on, I just couldn't see the point. Don't get me wrong: he's an evil murderer, but I never saw a connection with terrorism strong enough to warrent over-throwing another government. There must be a reason, but I just haven't seen it yet. He's killed a lot of people, but so have a lot of other tyrants around the world.
As for being envious of "sucessful" people; yeah, I guess I am. It's funny that people are good at many things: some people can blow a straw-cover the farthest, others can parallel-park better than anyone else, but it's only the people who are good at business and making money that are called "sucessful" I think that people are born with certain talents; I don't think that a person can be taught to be a business sucess: they just have it "in" them. My problem is I know a little about a lot of things but not enough about one thing to make any money. :) Have a good night. Maybe tomorrow I'll feel better enough to get in a real argument with you. :)

Insects react according to instinct.

Robots operate via their programming.

Humans have volition directed by judgment. Judgment is developed through a combination of information and experience. Unlike programming and instinct it can change itself or it can be over-ridden entirely. The danger in suspending judgment, or allowing bad judgment to develop, is that one runs the risk of putting one's well-being in danger. This is a violation of one's morality if the primary goal of one's existance is survival. If one encourages others to act similarly, it is likewise a moral crime. It is worse than acting according to instinct or programming because it is voluntary act of suicidal stupidity in contradiction of knowledge to the contrary. Empathy is indeed a unique human characteristic, but it is not always a qualifier of virtue. More often than not, emotions operate in opposition to judgment and must therefore be suspended when matters of mortality are at issue. One should not, for instance, forgo food for sex when starving nor consume poison because it tastes good. Likewise, one does not forfeit judgment to emotion when reacting to mortal threat - unless you are mentally retarded or a suicidal jackass.

I suggest that suspending one's sentience in such a manner, renders one lesser a creature than an insect, or a robot.

I really think North Korea is over rated as a threat. That Kim Jong Il, or however you spell it, is a complete loon. Some people in his gov't must know that. Who is he gonna nuke, South Korea? That doesn't make much sense. I'm pretty sure if he tried anything we'd take him out in a New York minute.

The danger with Jong isn't that he'll use nukes, it's that he will sell them to someone else that will. How much do you think Al Quida would pay for a nuke?

My little example of insects was to point out that I do not blindly follow what I am told, even if the a Republican President tells me. Emotions and "judgement", in my opinion are not two different things. To me, we intake from our senses and respond according to what is best for us. Our past experiances "tune" in our responses for future decisions. "Pity" is not something to discard; it's there for a reason. Just because I have it does not mean I am ready to turn a murderer loose. Good judgement is the abilty to take all of one's inputs, including compassionate emotions, and making the right decision. People are born varying levels of emotions where one may influence more than another: that's what makes us different. Only when one emotion really gets out of skew; sex instead of food, will we really screw ourselves up.
In short: I may feel sorry for him, but I will be glad when he is imprisoned or dead.

I do not seek to argue. You seem like a nice enough fellow to me. Dude right? My boy returned from Iraq some months ago. He is likely to return there again, for another deployment later, before his Military obligation service is fulfilled. I have no reason to be contentious with you.  Please just be aware of the simple fact, that those Troops who serve us over there in that shithole, all have family, and loved ones.

Your son, along with those other men and women serving our Country, have my highest respect. I have no children, but I have a friend of mine that was serving in Iraq for a while, until he had a minor non-combat accident and was sent back home. I hope that your son comes home safe and soon. :)
Good night

Sorry. Not meant personally.

In fact, I will even confess to a twinge of sympathy myself, which lasted all of about two microseconds, until I considered that we're giving him a bath in disinfectant, (I hope), but his prisoners got nitric acid. Slowly.

Humans have volition directed by judgment.

It seems that desires and feelings now dominate volition, and that rightness, reason, judgement, etc are not given their due.

No offense taken. :) Actually, a quick death may have been better: once the liberals here and around the world get him on trial, it may result in the demand for United States to apologize to the scum and give him back the country!
