I know what you were feeling and trying to say. I really didn't see the problem with you expressing your opinions about suicide. Your opinions are as valid as anyone's. Please don't let a few shut you down.

Do we really know if Chris committed suicide? Or are we just presuming? His "official death" was 12/9. What does that mean? Was he missing and just found? Was he here or in Australia? All we have is a FReeper posting a thread saying that Chris is "gone".

We have no facts, just mere speculation. No obituary, no funeral arrangements. Just that "Chris is gone". If I missed something, someone please let me know.

I just called my brother with the Saddam news and he was still up at 5:30am.

We DO need our own island.

you're on mine!

We have nthing we can trust. One hting that hurts so muc, is learning how we are totally incapable of changing things outside ourselves.

Events like this are not in our hands, and our pride, our flesh wants to rspond in some way, yet we cannot.

This is the perfect time to turn to the Lord for comfort, for only He can be trusted to be secure, to be honest, to be there when we need Him.

Friends will abandon us, family can disown us, but God, when we are rightly related to Him, will never let us go.

The emotions we feel are what we are supposed to feel. Pain is there for a reason, emotional hurt is there for a reason. It shows we loved or that we cared. It reminds us we tried to do something. But sometimes the reality of our situation does ot hit us until the loss occurs: We are not in control; God is.

That is where it begins, it is where it ends, it is what we are supposed to think first and what we are supposed to think last.

And this kind of surrender is a good one. It is a surrender to the reality we never think of, the reality that we are not in control of our everyday lives, God is.

This is the perfect time to discover the reality of a certain verse:

(Phil 4:6 KJV) Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

(Phil 4:7 KJV) And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

(Phil 4:8 KJV) Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

The final verse tells us where we are to direct our thoughts, especially in a time of emotional hurt: Think about the things that God has done for us.

I am sorry for the loss of yur friends. It has been years since I lost anyone close. I lost a friend once on his wedding day, he lost control of his car going to pick up the best man, and died in the ambulance. We have both seen people die and heard of people die in the Marines. We didnt think of th pain then at those moments because we had our minds focused on many other things, and most times, the pain came later.

As civilians, we dont have those other events to distract us, and we appreciate life more. Losses hurt faster, and we are often the ones who appear to be the rock others lean on.

I am so sorry for you to lose your friends. Remember: God wants you to trust Him in these times, He will never die on you, He wants you to turn to Him, He wants you to lean on His shoulder and ask Him to ease the pain.

That's why He is called Father.

So after Theology, what did you become?
A harmless teddy bear.

LOL Actually I got a degree in business with a minor in accounting. Picture the teddy bear with glasses and a computer and you have it right.

The good Lord doesn't put more on our shoulders than we can bear. Some people cannot see that, unfortunately.

When the burdeon gets to be beyond our capabilities, turn your eyes to Him.

My FRiends, know that I'm here, should anyone need.

Amen and Amen, (((((mhking)))))

That is a wonderful and comforting statement. I'd like to add my name to that.

May our Fellow FReeper TrappedInLiberalHell rest in peace in the comforting arms of our Lord and Saviour.

Please let us know that we can call on one another in a time of need. That's what we are here for - to support and pray for and love one another.

Let's use each other to bear each other up when the going seems to be unbearable. We are blessed to be a part of a large and giving community.

Lazamataz... Could be we're both floating down that river in Egypt. I'm prepared to take my lumps if that's the case. I'll richly deserve it for being so cocky. ; )

But actually.. I don't believe that will be the case. You see... I have an eating disorder as well.. and I began attending a step program for that. And low and behold... one can't abstain from eating now can they?? ; )

At some point then ...I realized I'd been just as obsessed with NOT drinking and doing drugs and although my life was better being clean.. I still was not at peace. I was still mean... uncaring... and at odds with the world around me.

Then one night... I heard an AA/NA oldtimer describe his life at that point as happy, joyous and free. I could see it in him and I wanted it. So, I went up to him and asked him how. He said, in general.. stop struggling. Find a Higher Power and surrender to it. When you do... a wonderful thing called intuition will occur. Listen to it . And if your smart... you'll try to never lose it. Some pretty incredible people in the program.

So.. that's what I focused on. Because it felt right to my addict as well. And I guess that's how we came to terms with each other.

I think all humans have the power to be at peace. But.. like a soul mate of mine says.. All suffering is a result of desire. and we all certainly want things our own way.
