Anjelina Jolie is so far from Lara Croft herself. I think the life of Hollyweird is mostly for a laff. Hollyweird thinks they can do whatever they want because they have money. All the money in the world won't save you from sickness and depression.

The Rat socialist ideology is designed to break the individual. As this ideology advances, individuals are oppressed. We live in depressing ideological times in our country. I get depressed when I remember how much freer we used to be.

Medication and reconditioning is not the answer. Restoring our freedom is.

As individuals of a certain profile, who love freedom, we are under constant attack and marginalization. There is a WAR going on in this culture. The Mental health of individuals who oppose the current trends is naturally at risk.

If you read his posts, he felt this oppression, and it was real. As a society, we are so screwed up, that sometimes being above it all is painful.

I have a depressive in my own family and have been trying so hard to get through to
her, to talk about the problem, but nothing seems to work. So, unconditional
love it is, until hopefully things get better.

If her depression is deep enough, she may be emotionally and intellectually unable to
respond to you.

I'll bet if you could get inside her soul, you'd find her extremely grateful to you for
being there for her.

It wasn't until I escaped the worst of my depression (via medication) that I was able
to sincerely thank those who stood by me during the worst of times. And when I
told them of little things they had kindly done for me many years before, things
they often didn't remember but which had huge meaning to me, they were
surprised.

You may think you're not 'getting through' to her, but you probably are.

Sheesh now we get the "militia" press release over TILH's suicide.

Just a question, AWWL, do you think that suicide is or is not a selfish act?

Interesting thread.
I agree that this all seems to be more common today than in previous generations. I believe it's not a simple subject. I myself can explain it by a life-altering experience I had about 10 years ago. I, like CS Lewis, am still not ready to reconcile the events with a merciful God, so am still in the Cosmic sadist stage.
But other factors have an influence here. Doublespeak, Brave New World, the hopelessness of seeing half the country embracing nanny government in a most serious way; a citizenry that actually believes that nothing is worth fighting for --- ever. The trigger for hopelessness is certainly there.

I survive with the certain knowlege that no matter how much the dummies screw up my world, my experience education and knowlege keeps me better equiped to deal with the consequences. Small comfort.

"...a complete disemboweling of you...."

You might want to reconsider even thinking about such a thing. The moderators aren't the only people you need to worry about.

Jim Robinson, you might want to provide copies of this to his local police department, and archive it, because if anything happens to her, I'm certainly going to remember it.

If you read my profile, you'll see I'm a person of diverse tastes in life, political topics, and family. I used to get invited to multicultural discussions all the time. The mental backwash of dealing with angry libs was too much for me. Eventually I stopped accepting such invites because they really would depress me. I find your post interesting and TRUE.

Yet worth every second of it. As silver refined and tested by Fire to the limit.

I said You were my Shepard, I said You were my All
And if by chance I stumbled that You would break the fall
But these were merely words I spoke when others were around
Until I got a chance to see what You'd do when I was down.

It gave me insight I would have gotten no other way. I never, from the time I was a tiny child, had a crisis of faith. Not to say I didn't have problems but I never doubted Him or His word. This, in some ways, made it much worse. Because if God was there and He cared then the reason I was feeling that way must be all my fault. And I didn't know how to fix it. (Bit of a egotist wasn't I?)

I had help getting out. The responsibility for another person was tossed in my lap and because she needed me to be more then a semi-functional person I had to become fully functional. And it didn't matter that I was too tired and ashamed to do it, it still had to be done. What I would never have done for myself I did for her.

I went to the doctor and got what I needed to get me out of the grayness. Once that happened it was simply a matter of learning to put one foot in front of the other again. I don't think I have ever done anything harder in my life.

Go already! You need to stop stinking up this thread with your last gasp hostility.

He is gone. Should we start a funeral thread for him. I've had four cups of coffee and could we "christen" his grave :-)

In all seriesness I am off for the day. Later

Dane, suicide is irrational to a non-depressive.

To a depressive, with a numb, confused, and tormented mind, suicide may appear
the only escape from a hell so brutal I remember thinking once that I would not wish
it on Adolph Hitler.

I used to think that if I could somehow isolate my depression into my right arm, I'd
grab a knife or chainsaw and cut it off.

As a kid, I recall first seeing drawings of Dante's inferno and wondering what hell was
really like.

As a depressive, I eventually found out.

And as a friend, I pray you never experience it.

Bless you.

Clinical depression is not about "feeling low," and it certainly has nothing to do with one's attitude toward God. Depression involves a chemical imbalance that is easily remedied with medication.

Some people have a type of diabetes that destroys the cells in the pancreas that produce insulin. No amount of diet or exercise will help. They HAVE to take medication. Same thing with clinical depression. It's not the problems in your life that are "getting you down," it's the chemicals in your brain.

I'm scanning the thread debating whether to read it or not and just wanted to thank both of you for trying to explain this. So tell me: Did the "SSRI's-Are-Satanic!" crowd show up and ruin the discussion or is it a rational thread worth reading?
