The President today announced his next choice for Housing and Urban Development Secretary, Alphonso Jackson in the Roosevelt Room in the White House. Mr. Jackson is replacing Mel Martinez who resigned last week. Laura spent the morning at the Childrens National Medical Center in Washington, where she read to sick children, and watched the premiere showing of BarneyCam II: Barney Reloaded with them. Some goodies tonight, so enjoy your Daily Dose of Dubya!!

I saw the A & E special too! It was WONDERFUL!! The WH was absolutely stunning, so tastefully decorated. The storybook characters......exquisite.
One of my favorite parts of the show about was the childrens choir. What an opportunity for those kids. And that young 11 year old girl who was the soprano soloist....wow! At some time in their performances she sang a high "E"!! Just wow!! I have a solid "G", but an "A" starts stretching it for my range. She was 5 steps above that.
Whew! Anyway they were so wonderful. I'm so glad I saw it.

they sure don't know how much Americans support them. I guess all of them must have been only able to see CNN - and think most Americans are against this war and THEM.Oh no! Oh no, oh no, oh no! This distresses me to no end. TNt, please freepmail me with any supplies or things you need. Thanks for letting them know how much we appreciate and are grateful to them. Please keep telling them.
You are the Spirit of Christmas in visiting these brave guys. God Bless You.

Whoa! What a great idea, and I have one downstairs that I haven't used for so long, I forgot I had it! It's called a "library bag" - long black canvas bag, folds up to nothing, but has 4 wheels on the bottom. Thanks for the reminder. FReepers are so great.
I'm going to load that puppy up and then I can take everything that Mike gave me - quite a load: boxes of pens, pads of paper, note cards, Christmas cards, an assortment of cards, and envelopes, and STICKERS!!!! And then there's the candy, chips and pastry that I've contributed - sounds like multiple trips to me.
And MJY1288 said that tomorrow - weather permitting unless that monster black truck I remember him driving, can go anywhere and the "Wintry Mix" won't stop him, he's going to take stamps.
I want everyone to understand something. The prepaid phonecards were from an anonymous donor sent to MJY1288, which he passed on to me, giving me the pleasure of passing them out, along with the cards were Christmas cards, pens and paper.
MJY1288 saw how popular the paper and pens an cards were, he went out and bought more. A LOT more. A TON MORE!!
And then I have the privilege of greeting, talking with our warriors, explaining who we are and showing them some of the printouts from FR, and telling them how much we love them, how we've prayed for them. One guy wouldn't give me back the last copy of Kayak's prayer thread on the Dose - and I could hardly insist. I just need to go with more. I had no idea that our praying for them, so many by name, would mean so much. And of all of the soldiers, every one of them that I've asked if they'd like me to pray with them, they've all welcomed it and thanked me after.
I've seen it written here before. Where do we get men such as these?
God bless them, each and every one.

We should give them the web address to the FR "Canteen", They have access to computers in the Hospital, I would love to give them all the links I have to patriotic websites that support our troops, including making a bunch of CD's out the many MPEGS I have on this PC that show our military hardware and troops at work, many of them are produced by GrouchyMedia.com (Excellent Flash Video's)

"Where do we get such men?"
In case you (or others) don't know the source, the haunting rhetorical question is uttered by the Rear Admiral in the movie "The Bridges At Toko-Ri"...as he realizes some of his pilots won't be making the trip back to his aircraft carrier.
It's been a long time since I saw the film, but I just get chills thinking about that line.
And it's a film with real depth and application to today, with the main character, played by William Holden pulled reluctantly back to active duty and away from his wife and child.
The film was not simplistic; it left me feeling conflicted -- sad that there really are a number of unhappy endings to all the personal stories in a war, proud that some countries are ready to be part of a "coalition of the willing" and fight even when success is not certain and may be hard to recognize.
There's a good review at the following link:

TruthNtegrity,
You are truly an Angel of mercy. I think the visits to Walter Reed require their own after action reports instead of being hidden in various threads.
Folks from the DC Chapter were planning on going to WR yesterday. There was supposed to be a Christmas party.
God bless you.

Thanks for the ping, JVb. I agree. Suggested the same to TruthNt yesterday. A running Walter Reed thread is needed at FR, imho, for T's ~ and other Freeper updates. If T doesn't post it, someone will. Stay tuned....
