A Day in the Life of President Bush (photos) - 12.12.03

The President today announced his next choice for Housing and Urban Development Secretary, Alphonso Jackson in the Roosevelt Room in the White House. Mr. Jackson is replacing Mel Martinez who resigned last week. Laura spent the morning at the Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, where she read to sick children, and watched the premiere showing of “BarneyCam II: Barney Reloaded” with them. Some goodies tonight, so enjoy your Daily Dose of Dubya!!

You are terrific!!! Thanks for finding and posting what, in my opinion, is one of the best photos of the President. By the way, Barney is now a 3-year-old, if memory serves. And not to forget the ever-faithful Spotty, she'll be 15 come April. She's been by Dubya's side through some of the most significant times in the man's life, and I know he'll keenly miss her when God calls her home.

My two German Wirehaird Pointers, Annabelle and Wolfie, were also born in 1989, but November 9, a few months after Spotty. Mine were born the night the Berlin Wall came down. Always seemed to me a fitting day for two great dogs of German heritage to come into the world — and into a Republican household.

Wolfie.....GOOD name for your dog! ;o)

You can tell how much the President loves both dogs, and you're right.......it's an important time for him to have that.

I hope Spot hangs on for a while, and stays healthy.

Me too. Just as human life expectancy has been extended by a combination of better diet and advances in medicine, so too have the lives of our pets. It wasn't so long ago that it was very rare for large-breed dogs like mine to make it to 10 or 11 years, let alone 14+. The President's Spotty, being a medium-sized and obviously very well-cared-for dog, has a shot at staying around for another couple of years. It's a small thing in the overall scheme of things, but I do pray that Spotty lives an exceptional life-span and stays reasonably healthy until very close to the end. Dubya clearly loves her and they have a remarkably tender relationship.

PS: Wolfie is anything but wolf-like. The good Lord saw fit to make him extremely soft-tempered and easily frightened. Perhaps it was the Lord's way of growing patience, tenderness, gentleness, and compassion in my fiercely independent soul.

Do you know how long Millie lived? And do dogs have hereditary longevity?

If Spot's mom lived to a ripe old age, maybe Spot will too. We can always hope!

THANKS so much! It was wonderful! I like how all of the specials are a little different on the different stations. Last year there were several shows with Tom Brokaw's or whoever's interview with both of them, and there were a few different questions in each of them (editing, obviously). It was perfect timing--I didn't get quite as many truffles made as I had planned but I had a lot more fun doing it and watching.

That's all they know--sniping and yapping.

What an incredible couple! While it was obvious the President still HATES to dance, his love for Laura was equally obvious!

***And whoa! when W was "acting" his instructions to Barn to get with the program and do the work he "agreed to do," couldn't you just hear Papa Bush "giving the guidelines" to his girls? ouch!***

Yeah, I think he'd be hard to argue with--I mean, I think he listens to all sides, but when he knows what he wants, or what is right, that's it. I don't think he takes much cr** from anyone. I would not want to be on his bad side!

Our labs were born last Jan. We kept a black one and the chocolate one. They are soooo loving, unconditional love. We've had a really tough year with my father-in-law and it's been especially hard on my husb. He comes home all depressed and upset--and then the puppies jump on and lick him and you can just see the tension melt out of him. They just know when someone needs extra loves. I was and still am more of a cat person but these dogs have a special place in my heart--and obviously yours, Wolfstar, and obviously George and Laura's.

That was sooooooo sweet! And he looked as if he was really enjoying it. I'll have to tape it when it's on again--anyone know when that will be?

I loved seeing Ari too. Wish he was still at the White House. He did a great job. Took no nonsense from the press..but did it with a smile. Barney is a natural star!

Do you have or could borrow a small suitcase on wheels? Or maybe one of the wheeled kids backpacks? They would make a difference and save your back.

Thank you for going the extra mile for our troops.

"DrDeb, yes I have been to Glenn Beck's web site. BUT I can't seem to find the html code this thread is referring to. Can you help me find the html? I'll glady put it on my site."

It took me awhile, but I finally found the link:
http://www.glennbeck.com/news/12092003.shtml

Thanks for helping with this project -- we need to destroy Google's linkage between the President and "miserable failure" (the latter phrase should only be used to describe the 9 dwarves or Michael Moore!).
