Call the WHite HOuse to Thank Bush for CFR!!!
Posted on 12/10/2003 1:09:18 PM PST by Maceman
For what good it will do, I just called the White House switchboard (202-456-1111) and conveyed my extreme outrage at Bush for not vetoing CFR when he had the chance.
I hope you all will do the same.
BTW, the operator told me "you are not alone."
Let's shut down the WH switchboard with howls of protest.
If I wasn't still even more terrified of the Democrats than I am of the Republicans (albeit barely at this point), I would never support Bush in '04 after this.

Gonzalez was part of the dissent on that Texas Supreme Court decision.

If that's the case then why would they even challenge it? Do you think all those constitutional lawyers were just faking it for those 4 hours of arguments in front of the SCOTUS?
I know your upset about this, so am I, but don't make a fool of yourself with Howard Dean like theories

Bush stated under questioning from George Will that he would not sign McCain-Feingold. I can probably dig up the transcript if you don't believe it.

"Bush's tap-dancing around this issue while well-meaning freepers fall all over each other defending the bum is quite similar to the Iraq debacle. While Bush waves the flag and talks tough, his buddies are cleaning up with their new rebuilding contracts in Iraq. And almost daily Bush gives some speech about how he wants the UN in Iraq and that he was really enforcing the UN's resolutions in Iraq. Since Iraq had no WMD's and had nothing to do with 9/11, I tend to believe Bush now rather than a few months ago when he was pretending to dis the UN."Dennis Kucinich could not have said it better

WHICH McCain-Feingold, there's been several? Not this one, he never stated he'd not sign this one. Quite the opposite in fact.

Welcome to Free Republic. I appreciate your comments and insights. It's nice to see a voice of reason here from time to time. Just don't be too disappointed by the RINO bushbots that patrol this site. There are lots of true conservatives here who support you even if we don't always invite the abuse of the usual gang of idiots. (You're meeting some of them now, I see)
Keep up the good work! Regards.

Well, I would say that rather re-defines the phrase "going for the ban"!

"So what is your alternative?" http://www.constitutionparty.org/ A choice, not an echo.
Thanks for the link, But im not about to help divide the Republican party so that a Dem could win. Wouldnt they just love that?
Im pretty new here, and i know this thread is out of my league.
But i bet DU is over there ROFL at the infighting, I wouldnt even put it past them to have helped instigate this fight. This looks alot like the same fight the CA recall produced at FR.
I see no ultra conservative with a chance to win 2004.(emphasis on chance to win)
Bush is not my lord, he is just the best guy i have right now.
In fact he represents me very well in many areas. Even in light of his mistakes and the fact that he isnt more conservative than thou. As long as that is the case, and it surely will be come Nov, Republicans will get my vote, we will win again with or without those who demand an unrealistic perfection. We will keep chipping away at the Agenda one step at a time. I agree with much of what MY2Cents posted.
I never knew politics could be so dramatic, so serious, yet at times so extremely hilarious or contradictory.

And Alberto Gonzalez on the Texas Supreme Court ruled that the Texas abortion parental notification law was unconstitutional. That is absolutely false. You are either ignorant or a liar. You can explain which.

It's the latter

Yes, this one.
National Review has the quote, in which Will asks, "In which case, would you veto the McCain-Feingold bill, or the Shays-Meehan bill?" and Bush responds, "That's an interesting question. I I yes I would. The reason why is two for one, I think it does respe res restrict free speech for individuals. As I understand how the bill was written, I I - I think there's been two versions of it, but as I understand the first version restricted individuals and/or groups from being able to express their opinion."
Pretty straightforward stuff.

I realize this is a ground quaking issue but I have been wondering, dont we as conservatives gain from this in this election cycle? wont the 60 day ban on ads cripple the barrage of Soros funded negative advertising by moveon and the like?? I must admit I havent had a chance to read much on it, just got the highlights off the radio.
