I'm Looking for "Patriot Act" Success Stories
Posted on 12/08/2003 12:16:58 PM PST by PureSolace
All week long I've been talking with other students at the school I go to about the pros and cons of the Patriot Act, and I was wondering if any freepers had any information to contribute. Does anyone have a list of success stories or embarrassments because of the Patriot Act? From the searches that I've done it seems most of the websites on the net are anti Patriot Act because they say it can be abused and target regular everyday citizens, and even peaceful protesters? (That one baffled me) Anyway, Any information or insight you guys can give would be wonderful. Thanks :)

I guess technically some of those are US soil, but you knew what I meant. The Patriot Act wasn't passed to help stop terrorist acts against US interest in foriegn countries.

Some of you losers need to get a life....you can go march around your front yards, wearing your knickers and armed with your trusty muskets... Now without being "told on" to the authorities by those who feast on federally funded fearmongering.
Meanwhile the rest of us are living in 2003 and face a credible threat of Nuclear, Chemical or Biological Terrorism....[and idiots like you].
You are of course talking about China. How does the Patriot Act counter China's hegemonic ambitions in the Pacific?

If the rapists and child molesters are not terrorists, what are they? They're criminals. Yes, criminals are bad too you know.
Terrorism is the threat or purposeful use of physical force specifically against non-combatants for the purpose of instilling fear in a population and thereby effecting political change.
Everything else is just plain old crime, no matter how horrid it is.
Of course that's no fun for all the alphabet agencies, so terrorism will be whatever they say it is. And that's why the PA is so dangerous.

Let me understand this...
Is it your position that neither the Iranians or North Koreans have any nuclear capability and that even if they do...the federal government [which you seemingly loath] knows exactly where 'all' of their radioactive materials are at 'all' times?

0 [zero] Terrorists attacks in the United States since September 11th, 2001. OK That's a little over two years so...
How do we explain that there were zero terrorist attacks in the United States for the two years prior to September 11, 2001. Was that the Patriot Act?
Just playing Devils Advocate.

That was the point I was getting to. You made it much clearer, though!
To: TankerKC
Considering the planning for September 11th ran two years behind September 11th....I would find it more appropriate to look at the steps taken by the administration most influential prior to September 11th and it's track record against this one and it's current track record.
