I know of two people at the moment with back problems who have gone to pain management specialists and are receiving oxycontin. They don't take huge quantities, and it's helping.

"Thousands upon thousands" != "all". I'm glad your friends were lucky enough to get the help they needed without running into a brick wall.

why was he buying them on the blackmarket?

This has not been established or proven. It has only been alleged.

Unless you can supply a source that has definitive proof, you should refrain from making such comments.

No $shi*? Well, let's just tell Jim Robinson he can close this forum down this minute -- as nothing that hasn't been proved in a court of law can be discussed.

Give me a freaking break. You look and sound just like Sid Blumenthal when you say crap like that.

"Not to put too fine a point on it, but if he DID have a legitimate reason for taking the drugs, why was he buying them on the blackmarket?"

The fact that they're going after his doctor's records would seem to indicate that they didn't turn up anything with the blackmarket stuff.

My stepdad insists that no doctor would prescribe enough drugs that someone could get addicted to them.

Tell that to the millions that have become addicted to the prescriptions their doctors prescribed.

Your stepdad does not know the facts.

Or it could mean that what he got off the street wasn't enough for him, eh?

"Someone please help me here. My stepdad insists that no doctor would prescribe enough drugs that someone could get addicted to them."

Sounds to me like your stepdad doesn't know what the hell he is talking about. It doesn't take very much of an addictive substance to get addicted.

Broward woman charged with deceiving doctors to get drugs

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. -- A woman has been charged under a new "doctor shopping" law passed to prevent deception in obtaining prescription drugs.

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. -- A woman has been charged under a new "doctor shopping" law passed to prevent deception in obtaining prescription drugs.

Marilyn Georges, 53, was charged Thursday with six felony counts of "doctor shopping": obtaining the same controlled drugs from more than one doctor within a 30-day period by using deception. The law went into effect July 1.

"This is the first time we've filed such a case in this division," Broward Assistant State Attorney Sharon Mullane said. "I believe there will be plenty of others. This is a problem that has existed for some time."

Prosecutors said three unsuspecting Broward doctors wrote Georges eight prescriptions for oxycodone, a narcotic painkiller, and alprazolam, a sedative, in a little more than a month.

Police first questioned Georges last month after two people died days apart in her home. One death was due to a drug overdose, according to the Broward Medical Examiner's Office. Authorities are conducting tests in the other case.

Georges told police she "misled" three doctors into prescribing for her at least 130 tablets of alprazolam, the generic form of Xanax, during three days in August, according to police records.

Georges is accused of visiting three doctors to obtain prescriptions for oxycodone and alprazolam on July 24 and 25, and again on July 10 and Aug. 16, according to prosecutors.

Plans for a database to monitor an estimated 13.4-million prescriptions written every year in Florida failed to win approval during last spring's legislative session. State officials estimated it would cost taxpayers $1.5-million to collect the prescription data.

Walgreen's has a system that can track prescriptions filled at any of its more than 500 branches in the state.

However, that system does not interact with other drug stores and chains.

"There are more deaths from prescription drugs in Florida right now than illicit drugs. This is the drug abuse problem right now," said Joe Spillane, a pharmacologist at Broward General Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale. "There's got to be a way to make a better system."

Authorities learned two years ago during an investigation of U.S. Trust bank in New York that Limbaugh withdrew cash 30 to 40 times

That was according to ABC, whose reliability I question. ABC also reported Arnold was a Nazi sympathizer and failed to print Arnold's entire quote about Hitler. Rush actually outed the ABC reporter on the Arnold story on air.

Rush came on the air and stated 3-4 times this happened and explained the situation in total.

I'm glad your friends were lucky enough to get the help they needed without running into a brick wall.

Pain management specialists can usually be found in any phone book, and they will prescribe according to directions. What they will not do is put you on massive quantities, as Rush was alleged to have bought.

I think Jeb Bush's daughter doc shopped for pills.

And she's not in jail.

The rats are after Rush. He'll win. :)

"Or it could mean that what he got off the street wasn't enough for him, eh?"

Or it could mean that he's linked to Al-Queda!

Or, more likely, you're just being an idiot with reading comprehension problems. If they had the dirt to nail him for getting drugs off of the black market, why are they raiding his doctor's office?

He has stated that he was asked by the bank to do it that way; he said he told investigators that story, and his information is that there were multiple customers of this bank that were given the same request.

If memory serves, I believe the bank ended up paying a fine for suggesting these activities.

Feel like you're arguments are crumbling, pal?

If they had the dirt to nail him for getting drugs off of the black market, why are they raiding his doctor's office?

Because he was getting them BOTH places??????

It has been reported (Rush has confirmed this) that Rush took massive quantities of drugs, obtained from illegal sources.

I have not heard Rush say he obtained these drugs from illegal sources? Could you please direct us to this statement?

I'm seeing parsing like I haven't seen in years.

You've got that right. The statement Blcak gave today was about as Clintonesque as one can get. Yes, he probably did have a legitmate reason to obtain medication. But how about Doctor Shopping or obtainging the drugs illegally. Hmmmm, Mr. Black, why isn't that being addressed and addressed Candidly?

Does Rush need his own "Truth Detector"?

She may have but she was caught trying to use a fake prescription to get the drugs.....

I suspect a lot of addicts doctor shop.... or do many things to get their fix...... nothing new about that.

Not very nice language. The truth is that Rush had something in common with Clinton. It seems that both were big risk-takers.

The parsing is all on the side of Rush, his attorney, and tonight from Mark Levin on his NY radio show. All the whining about unfair tells me he is unable to accept the fact that he broke the law and there are consequences.

If what you are saying is true, he is hurting the conservative movement more than he knows. A key element of conservatisim is accountability, not hiding behind the fancy words of your attorney.
