In a demoralizing message to U.S. soldiers serving in Iraq, visiting New York Sen. Hillary Clinton told them that Americans back home are growing increasingly skeptical of President Bush's decision to send them into battle.
Describing two meetings with G.I.s over turkey dinners in Baghdad, Sen. Clinton told reporters later that soldiers wanted to know "how the people at home feel about what we are doing."
Clinton said she told the troops, "Americans are wholeheartedly proud of what you are doing but there are many questions at home about the (Bush) administration's policies."
She also suggested that the U.S. could eventually loose the war in Iraq, contending, "We have to exert all of our efforts militarily, but the outcome is not assured."
Despite her sour pronouncements, the former first lady insisted that the soldiers were just as glad to see her as they were President Bush, whose surprise visit less than 24-hours earlier was greeted with standing ovations.
"It's a positive for the commander-in-chief to visit troops in the field," Clinton told reporters, adding, "the troops [also] seemed to appreciate seeing myself."
Speaking from a secure location just over the Kuwaiti border, Mrs. Clinton launched one verbal salvo after another at the White House, arguing that Bush officials had been "obsessed" with getting Saddam Hussein and saying the perception blinded them to the difficulties of deposing his regime.
"The Pentagon tried to make do with as few troops as possible, as light a footprint as they could get away with," Clinton said. "Now, we're playing catchup . . . Unfortunately, I don't think they fully appreciated the conditions we would encounter."
The top Democrat also reprised her charge that the White House is being less than candid when it comes to apprising the American people of the costs of the war.
"The obstacles and problems here are much greater than the administration usually admits to," she said, adding, "Everybody has to be honest."

I do wish someone would get the off-the-record comments that those troops forced to be near that sow had to say when they could speak freely (and with assurance that their name wouldn't be used). I bet they had plenty to say.

I notice the Clintons don't like to touch one another. There still seems to be love between the Bush's.

The trip marks Clinton's first fact-finding mission abroad as a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee. I don't think she was interested in finding any facts. Her mind was made up before she got there.

prairie - you gave me the best laugh today and after reading all these articles about Her Shrillness, I really needed to laugh!
I consider myself in good company with you and some other Freepers who had their "first time". LOL

Her dad must have had major issues with her and could you blame him? Apparently as he got older, he changed his tune and move to AK with her.
I guess he was afraid she'd pick out his nursing home

I have been following this thread closely to see what the reaction would be to hillary clinton's antics in Iraq the day two days after the President went there to build the morale of the soldiers, make our commitment to them clear and convey the love of the country to them.
I am sad to see that, for the most part, there is a lot of verbal outrage but little follow-up as to what people plan to do about it. Verbal outrage will get us exactly nothing. It is easy to sit at one's computer and tell each other how mad we are at what hillary has done. She has undermined our soldiers, our war effort and our President while giving comfort to the enemy and emboldening them even further.
I am just one of many freepers, but if this isn't a call to action against this woman, I don't know what is. Is this not 10 times more important than getting the Reagan movie off of CBS? Is this not a time to do all we can to publicize the remarks of hillary clinton, force this story into the mainstream and stop this vicious, power-hungry woman? Or shall we just sit here and type?
To: Eaker
You have my pity and I hope you don't perform any emergency surgery with your stapler on them!!!Only one of the lefties is here, and despite political differences, he is a very good friend of mine. When I showed him the article and the thread here on FR, he couldnt defend her statements, he didnt condemn them, but at least he didnt try and condone or explain them. When Hillary gets back here, she will cliam she was taken out of context.

I know that I shouldn't talk like this, but this report confirms what I have always believed about Hillary: she's a woman of no principles, a self-promoting little c#@* with a lust for power that is unhealthy.
To go to our troops and talk down the support of the American people for the conflict in front of them is beneath contempt.
I live for the day when Condi Rice gives her the Alabama ass whipping of her life in 2008. Condi will need a rather long bullwhip, too, as Hillary has one huge ass.
Be Seeing You,
Chris

I don't know if you saw this one. This is pretty stomach churning. I don't know how someone would go to Iraq and tell the troops this. Way to go Hillary.

Can Hitlery not speak English????
To: crabbie
What is wrong with that woman? What a horrible message to say to our soldiers' faces.
She can't help but act out what her husband put so plainly: That they "loathe" the military. Well, Hitlery, we "loathe" you as well.

I wonder how many times she said "You know, you know, you know" while she was there. What a complete moron and idiot she is.
Did you see the footage of her eating Thanksgiving lunch on Fox? She was so ill at ease that she was just shoveling 1 item at a time into her fangs: 1 green bean, 1 more green bean, etc. It was so obvious that she KNEW she wasn't welcome and didn't fit in.

Here Mrs. Clinton, right this way to your next speaking engagement. Just take RPG Alley over there.
What's RPG Alley?
Oh, it means Really Guarded and Protected :o)

Though I don't have the link handy, a quick run though this thread will produce several sources of these statements that are not from NewsMax. As I recall, one is a Buffalo, NY newspaper. I'm not doubting her quoted comments. What I'm finding fault with is the NewsMax "spin" in the headline. Hillary said a number of outrageous things, but contrary to NewsMax's headline, she did *NOT* say (directly or indirectly) that "support for the war is fading". In fact, she made no comment about whether support was fading, growing, or remaining constant.
Look, anything these seething pig excrement Klintoons do can set me off,
Agreed.
but this stuff looks pretty real to me...
Not NewsMax's headline, which hysterically "cries wolf" about what Her Nibs *actually* said. What she actually said was outrageous enough -- what good does it do for NewsMax to lie about it and get people stirred up over something she *didn't* actually say? It makes conservatives look like half-cocked fools with poor reading comprehension when they do stuff like this.
It's as bad as all the times that liberals get worked up into a froth over something that conservatives (especially President Bush) never actually said (e.g. "he told us Iraq was an imminent threat" or "he told us Iraq had nuclear weapons" [TeddyK], etc.).
To: O.C. - Old Cracker
thx. Outta Africa.
ABOUT FACE
What we see
on clinton's face
is rage...
but also abject fear.
clinton is
-- both clintons are --
ignoble,
narcissistic,
craven, gutless
and full of rage.
As are all rapists...
